Populated with gifts, goods, clothing, accessories, jewelry, home décor (rugs! so. many. rugs!), hand-carved wooden furniture, and curious curios collected from the far flung corners of the world, exploring this place is a treat in itself. It's a self-contained bazaar in a building. The employee who greeted us was enamored with our newborn son, and gave him a free finger puppet, which apparently they do for every little tyke on their first visit, which was a sweet touch. My wife ended up purchasing a few trinkets and a necklace chain, but we spent more time ooh-ing and aah-ing, while conversing with the attendant, more than anything. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed to see paint scratches on the walls, baseboards, and door frames from the carpet install. After checking the contract, I saw that Jay's Flooring states they aren't responsible for any damage in these areas. While the carpet itself was installed fine, I won't be hiring them again. That said, I should have read the contract more carefully.

Well, that's kind of how we ended up with a new rug that didn't fit where it was supposed to. However, my wife refuses to admit defeat to any purchase, so we started to look for someone who could help us, which led to a trip over to Kent. Ward works out of his home workshop, which is a converted garage. We showed up with the rug and he welcomed us in. One of the nice things about visiting someone working out of their home is seeing the tools of the trade. It was interesting watching Ward split and reassemble the rug, like a live episode of How It's Made. Ward was very friendly and courteous. An hour later, our rug was resized and ready to go, with an additional kitchen mat made from the excess rug to boot. Ward's work is exceptional and worth every penny.

I always pick the middle grade of everything I buy. After I pick the carpet I wanted I should have googled the quality of it, but I had faith and I wish so badly. I can rip this out. I look at it every day and regret the thousands of dollars I spent. So if you go with this company review the product that you're having installed, I am so unhappy. The carpet became very mat and very aged. I've now had to put runners to cover places.
