HRC is now HearUSA, but nothing else has changed. This is a very good thing. I have been a client…read morefor well over fifteen years, and I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Brock and his staff. They're just WONDERFUL! I have an uneasy relationship with my hearing loss and hearing aids. I don't particularly care that I'm hard of hearing, and I just train people to look at me when they speak. I don't like hearing aids and consider them a necessary evil. I either haven't worn them, or only wore one, most of my life since age 13. Things changed when my son fell on the stairs in NY, and I couldn't hear him crying for me. My mother, who has acute hearing and a terrible temper, brought him upstairs and yelled, "You need to wear a damn hearing aid!" Well pfft. Upon our return to Colorado, I shuffled my feet off to Hearing Rehab Center, as it was then. I sulked during the hearing test. Dr. Brock fitted me with a top-of-the line LEOPARD-printed hearing aid. I LOVED it. It was tiny, amazing, and LEOPARD. Dr. Brock suggested that I get two, but I refused. Ex-husband and kid(s) were extremely noisy. He never pushed me to get a second one. Over the years, I've stopped by many times for batteries, new domes, new tube thingies, and the occasional overdue hearing test. I've also run over in a complete panic when my aid didn't work. This was usually because of a loose wire. I had to eventually replace the leopard aid, and Dr. Brock guided me to what he thought was the best choice for me. A tiny Oticon aid, in an unfortunate shade of burgundy that matches Oriental rugs perfectly. I am exceedingly grateful to Dr. Brock for making a bad situation (hearing loss) better. He's a genuinely kind, very nice, and thoroughly professional audiologist. He REALLY knows his field, and keeps up with the latest developments and technology. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He's also very pleasant in that he won't push you into making a choice. I really appreciate that. Excellent hearing aids are expensive, even with special pricing. HearUSA has partnered with a couple of major manufacturers in order to offer discounts on some aids. HearUSA also offers the OTC aids for$999. These are suitable for people with mild to moderate loss. Unfortunately, mine is more severe, so those won't help me. But for metalheads or age-related loss, these could work.

My tinnitus is terrible and it finally got so bad, that I needed help. I went here and got a hearing evaluation. I was then told I needed a 1K MRI to determine whether or not there was a benign tumor putting pressure on the inside of my ear. I could not afford it so I didn't do it. 6 months later, I can't stand it so I go back and get another evaluation. This time I am told there is another, very inexpensive test that can be done in the office and it would determine if I really need a MRI or not. I went for the test and I had a migraine brewing all day so it wasn't a good day to begin with. I told the PA that I just wanted to have the test done and leave. She did the test , then put me in a room with bright flourescent lights. My migraine went into hyper drive. After 10 minutes of not being acknowledged, I stormed out. So far this doesn't sound like it could be a 5 star review but here's where it gets good. Dr. Pingree called me after I paid the bill and enclosed a note voicing my displeasure. He asked me to tell him in detail what happened and what led to my negative experience. Has anybody EVER had this happen before? I haven't. I was happy to relate to him the details and he was very happy to tell me that this experience will be used as a way to train staff to be more respsonsive to patients and their needs. The point is that Dr. Pingree took time to listen to me and I could sense that he was deeply concerned about his customer care. I will defenitely give them another opportunity to help me in the near future.

Before seeing Dr. Hepworth, do your homework and take the negative reviews seriously. He relies…read moreheavily on fear to push vulnerable patients toward surgery--particularly those who are exhausted, undiagnosed, and desperate for answers. He presents himself as the first doctor who "finally understands" what's wrong. The relief is overwhelming. You feel seen. You may even break down in his office because, at last, someone claims to have an explanation. That emotional response is part of the problem. If he gives you a diagnosis, verify it--twice--through independent specialists not affiliated with him. Dr. Hepworth sent me down a frightening two-year rabbit hole with a diagnosis of a CSF leak. He claimed I had a possible cephalocele, a sinus infection that had eroded bone at the roof of my nose, a CSF leak through a skull defect, and a possible skull base fracture. He explicitly warned that if I became ill, bacteria or a virus could travel into my brain, causing meningitis and death. When I sought a second opinion, he referred me to one of his neurologist colleagues, who supported his conclusions. After extensive evaluation and testing at the Mayo Clinic, not a single one of Dr. Hepworth's diagnoses was correct. The actual cause of my symptoms was orthostatic hypotension. Do your research. Be skeptical of fear-based medicine. And don't give up on finding accurate answers--but make sure they come from unbiased, reputable specialists.

I spent a night at SkyRidge hospital that haunts me. I kept asking the nurse for help but I was put in a floor where the nurse didn't know much about the aftercare. I kept telling her that I have had this surgery multiple times and I know I need medicine afterward. She kept apologizing and said Dr. Blake did not prescribe anything. I called the office from my personal phone while in the hospital. I was told Dr. Blake was on a plane- going on vacation and I would have to wait until the morning. By 8am, I was bleeding, my body felt so weird. I wasn't getting any help and the only way I could get medicine was to go to Walgreens. I literally walked out of the hospital so I could help myself. I do not blame the nurse because she was tending to so many other patients and she kept calling for help. I got my medicine from Walgreens. The office only prescribed pain medicine. By the evening I was so sick and out of it, I went to Littleton hospital where I spent several weeks fighting septic shock due to Dr. Blake's mistake. At my follow-up appointment, Dr. Blake was not allowing me to speak until his 5/6 year resident stepped in and showed him that I was not prescribed medication. It was only then he took a moment to apologize. Dr. Blake needs to learn human empathy.

It has taken me a while to write this because I was traumatized by my experience. The 2 stars…read morerepresent that the end result is the size and type of implants I wanted that are even and sit nicely. And for the excellent care his STAFF provides. The lack of additional stars has everything to do with Dr. Buford, his arrogance, his inattentive care, his insulting conversations. I was being treated so poorly by Dr Buford that I forced my husband to come to every appointment as protection! I've never had to take my husband to see a doctor before. I was very specific and insistent about what size I wanted, but Dr. Buford still gave me smaller implants than I wanted. When I woke up from surgery and saw what he did I flipped out and became hysterical because this was the REVISION after my first augmentation years before were a complete disappointment (by another doctor). He agreed to do a 2nd surgery the next day at no additional cost (also part of the 2 stars). I paid $31,000 for implants and lift, plus lipo under my armpits. AFTER I was given the anesthesia for the 2nd surgery, he came up close to my ear so my husband couldn't hear and he whispered "I don't want to hear A THING about the lipo" in an angry and menacing tone and I was too out of it from anesthesia to say anything to my husband who was there to protect me from this menace. The healing process was a disaster. I had allergic reactions to the pain medication, I couldn't reach him post-op as he was out of town golfing and not taking calls. It took hours to days to reach the on call doctor. They treated me like I was drug seeking when I couldn't tolerate any of the pain meds. My incisions kept coming apart and my skin was dying along the incision line, along with seromas that had to be drained with needle aspirations every two days for months after surgery. I felt like sally from nightmare before christmas trying to keep my incisions together. The scarring from the surgery is giving very Frankenstein. The lipo under my armpits is very uneven so I have a couple of pockets of fat surrounded by flat areas. I thought maybe he treated me so poorly because I was a fat, 50 something woman that he didn't want to work on. I would have rather he just said that FROM THE START than treat me like crap. I have lost over 50lbs since surgery but the little fat pockets in my armpits are still there. At my last follow up appointment with Dr Buford I told him how angry I was at the way I was treated and that I never wanted to see him again and he replied "yes, but do you like the results". So, yes, doctor, I like the way my breasts look with a bra or clothes on, not so much the FrankenTits scarring or the LumpyLipo underarms. I'm just grateful I didn't die, because I thought for a while I was going to die.
