I cut my own long hair off last week by parting it in the back & bringing over my shoulders. Whack! 5"" inches off. Needless to say I needed some shaping up! Saturday night I looked for hair salons open on Sundays & Instyle came up. I called at 10pm & left a message. Catherine called back & set me up for 1 pm Catherine did a great job cutting my hair. 11/5/2023 I called today to get an appointment for my little sister's 16th birthday, the lady on the phone answered in a very uncaring and annoyed tone. It seemed as though she did not want to be talking to me and even hung up on me while I was trying to set up an appointment as soon as I said 3pm wouldn't work, she didn't even give me a chance to set up a later appointment. Very rude and very discouraging, I do not want to take my little sister to such a rude and uncaring environment, never going there for a haircut. Even Great Clips has better service. read more

I am thanking every star in the heavens for Chi and this salon! It has absolutely SAVED the hair cut that I got from the Shop down in Petaluma. I came hurrying in on a Saturday night, still distressed and recovering from that depressed and anxious self-esteem free-fall that affects those with bad-haircut-itis. Chi took a look at the photograph that I had brought along, gave me the truth of the matter (that my bangs had been chopped too short at the last place to get the exact same wave effect) and then set to fixing what was a truly TERRIBLE haircut. It took her less than 15 minutes to trim up the back of my hair and texturize my bangs, as well as show me how to style them properly with a curling iron. And she didn't even charge extra! I will be coming back here again and again for my haircuts and styles. Chi is incredibly friendly without being afraid to tell you the truth, which I value in a stylist. She does fantastic work, and she treats you with respect and actually listens to your requests. My hair was severely damaged from bleaching it 3 months ago and decided to get it cut, go back to my hair's natural color so it will look healthy again. Chi did an amazing job! As I was explaining to her the kind of look that I want, she talked to me like a consultant and was not afraid to share her thoughts, which I like. She cut off all the damaged parts of my hair without cutting it too short and adding more volume, which I truly love! Now my hair is healthy again, looking good and I get a lot of compliments for it. I stopped in to Instyle to see if I could get a trim without an appointment. It's a fairly large salon. Clean and accommodating. I only had to wait ten minutes and Rita did a very good job. Since I didn't have my hair washed she flat ironed my hair to insure the trim would be flawless. Price was great too. $30.00. I have never had a horrible haircut before, but this place destroyed my hair! I ask for a trim and layers and thinning since I have really thick hair and it is wavy. The lady who cut my hair literally murdered it! She cut off over 5inches when I wanted 2 and then her idea of layers consisted of a long layer and a short layer! WTH that is not how you layer someones hair ever, especially someone who thick hair. I have never been so upset about a haircut before. I hate my hair everyday and it has been almost 6 months now since I go it cut and it will take forever for it to grow out to a length that I can get another hair cut because my "layers" are so different that the shorter one is really short still. I found Chi 20 years ago and it was the luckiest day of my life. Before she owned Instyle Beauty Salon she worked in a high-end salon and she was the best stylist there. Then she opened Instlye and now my husband goes to her, my daughter, my son-in-law, and my daughter's best friend. She collects raving clients. It's the best cut for a fraction of the price, convenient, and all of the stylists are experienced and reliable. I have naturally curly hair and she is so helpful. She is also an expert in Color. I was so nervous getting my hair cut by someone other than the girl i have been going to for 9 years. But I didn't have time to drive back home to get it done. so I read other reviews here on yelp about Chi. And scheduled an appointment. She did so great at cutting my hair it was exactly how i wanted it. She really listens to what you want and knows what she is doing. She also critics here own work and checks multiple times to see that the length is matching. She will not let you leave there until as a customer your satisfied and she is happy with her work. As I stylist at InStyle Salon I have to back up this place with when Tracy cut your hair she didn't take off 4 inches I was standing two stations down and instead of asking Chi nice to come look at your hair u yelled for her to come over. I had a client as well as Chi and both of our clients looked at each other trying to figure out why you were demanding chi to come over. I'm sorry but as a stylist we can't please EVERYONE. As far as paying for the cut you only had to pay 16 dollars. Normally for your hair it's 21 dollars so we are giving you a deal. Instead of saying all the negativity towards the salon why didnt you bring up when Chi did your waxing for free. Sorry we didn't satisfy you but again we can't please EVERYONE! read more

Charlie does such a great job I don't go anywhere else. He's the best, ask for him at the Farmer's Lane location. No special cut is needed for me, so most mall cuts are okay. I started getting my hair cut at the Coddingtown location after a terrible cut I wouldn't let the original offender "fix" for me. Charlie's been the only one I now let touch me for a couple of years now. When Charlie moved to his new location (same business) I moved with him. My hair was uneven and she didn't cut my hair the length I requested. I also requested an a-line cut but there is none it's just longer on one side of my face than the rest of the hair. She also burned my scalp with the blow dryer and almost burned my ears with the straightener about 5 times. Also for the majority of the time my hair was put in front of my face so I couldn't see what she was doing until it was done. She also got easily irritated and halfway through a lady came around to sweep near my chair and hit my knee with the broom. I have never had a worse haircut in my life and they charged me 40 bucks for the dang thing. I have also never been scared while getting my hair cut but this place be scary. read more

The staff at Instyle are always so friendly. I'm pretty lazy about getting my hair cut, I usually only come in for a cut when I have a wedding to go to. The staff knows my name, knows my son's name and always asks me how work is going. Melissa is simply the best. She is so very accommodating especially when I call for last minute appointments, which is pretty much the only way I roll. My son hates getting his hair cut, he's got a Chia Pet growing up there and will pretty much only let Melissa cut his hair. Affordable as well! read more

I walked in without an appointment and was seated within a few minutes. Chi was very friendly throughout my haircut, engaging in comfortable conversation. I didn't have to spend long telling her what I wanted and she did exactly what I requested. It seems like Santa Rosa either has cheap places with questionable reviews or really expensive places. Chi I believe is the owner she's extremely rude she doesn't greet you when you come in she speaks to her employees as if she is superior to them. Some of the workers seem to have just gotten out of school my husband had his haircut took over an hour and left it really bad. Melissa... Thank You! I had been running all over the mall for the past hour and I had 30 minutes to fit in a haircut. My usual place was across town so I decided to stop by. First of all the back of my head was drenched in sweat since I was up and down trying to hit all the spots. I told her about the sweat and she proceeded to wash up my hair before the cut - which she mentioned was included in the price. I had never had my hair washed at a salon before and it was great! She was so personable, cool, and attentive it had me at ease. Once the wash was done my hair was clean, refreshed and it smelled oh so great! She noticed that my side hair grows faster than the top and she made that section shorter and higher without me having to tell her. She said "I knew it since I saw your hair- your sides are way longer so I knew it grew like that." Wow! The cut was even, clean and very nice. She also trimmed my beard a bit and even pulled the back of my shirt out a bit and trimmed some of my shoulder and back hair! That threw me off and it felt a bit invasive, but again, she was so talkative and told me her son had the exact same hair and the routine seemed normal- it was new and I appreciated it. After we were done I was expecting a high tab since it was wash, cut, beard (and back trim), and it was $20! You cannot beat that! It was all new and Melissa made it a great one. I love this Salon and my Hairstylist! The Salon is very clean, in both style and literally clean! It's very nicely maintained and classy and the staff is very friendly. My Hairstylist is Sandra I refuse to go to anyone but her from now on. She is a Hair Guru! The stylists I tried before were always afraid to cut my hair because I have long Native American hair and its really very simple and never needs any chemicals added to it. The stylist I had right before I found Sandra completely ruined my hair! She told me she was going to add a "conditioning treatment" because of the damage to my hair from blow drying/straightening so I agreed trusting her judgment and assuming she knew what she was doing because she was the professional. She actually put a relaxer in my hair and my hair was never the same. I didn't do anything to my hair for a year hoping to grow it out and slowly trim off all the damaged hair. Then I was recommended to Sandra and she fixed my hair!! All of the damaged hair is gone and my hair is the same as before it is a miracle! She always gets my cut perfect, to say the least. And any recommendations she gives about the cut or the style you want LISTEN! She knows what she's talking about! Now here is the icing on the cake; the price! My cuts and styles range from $20-$45 which is a steal now a days, especially for the care and precision they show your hair.
