Buyer beware! This company defrauded our HOA! We solicited proposals from 3 companies for installation of synthetic turf in a front landscape. Steve Brown, Install-it-Direct representative, visited the property and met with our Board Member for at least an hour and a half, viewing the property and location of the installation prior to providing a proposal. His proposal came in the lowest and they were hired for the job. Install-it-Direct requested a deposit of 10% of the contract price, but refused to provide an invoice for the deposit prior to payment. They informed us that they would send the invoice AFTER payment was made. The invoice is required to maintain proper corporate books. They informed us that they could not schedule our project until deposit was paid. We reluctantly paid the deposit and did not receive an invoice or receipt afterward until specifically requested multiple times. Scheduling was a whole other nightmare. We were informed that someone else would reach out to us to schedule the job. It took over 2 weeks to get the job scheduled. From there, it was a 2 month wait to have the job actually done. On installation day, materials were delivered curbside and all was ready, when I received a call from Steve letting me know that his installation crew was unable to perform the job for the contracted price due to the landscape being on a slope. Steve informed us that the crew would need to hand-compact the base rather than use machinery, and this would increase the labor cost by $3,000...on a job that was bid at $7,800 total! This suddenly brought the price above all other quotes we received. Steve mentioned that we needed to make a decision very quickly since the materials were at the curb and if anything were to be stolen, we would be responsible for the cost! Unbelievable! Decisions like this for an HOA cannot be made on a whim, as we are bound by law to have a public meeting for the Board. I explained to Steve that we had a contracted agreement for the work to be done and that they should honor the price they quoted. Since he had clearly seen the property before bidding, I asked him how the slope of the property suddenly increased the cost so dramatically. He informed me that he did not have the installer view the property prior to creating the bid, but instead created the bid based off a similar job with similar topography. This whole experience has felt like a "bait and switch", not to mention a huge waste of months of our time waiting for the job that never happened! The Board opted not to move forward with the job and we requested return of our deposit funds. Steve let us know that accounting would be returning our deposit within a couple of weeks. He was deeply concerned that we would leave a bad review for the company based on our experience. I informed him that we would part ways without prejudice if the deposit was returned by November 30, 2020. Today is December 12, 2020. It has been 45 days since we requested return of our deposit and we still have not received our $765. The company unilaterally cancelled our contract, and is holding our deposit hostage. Attempts to call the company for deposit return have been futile. Again...buyer beware! I see a large number of satisfied customers on here, but our experience has been far from satisfactory. read more

We are so happy we chose Install-It-Direct for our backyard project! We can't stop bragging about our project manager Kyle Howard and foreman Francisco! Before choosing Install It, we had 7 other backyard companies come out and send us bids. We ultimately chose Install It because of the price and great customer service Kyle provided. He was available through text/calls from start to finish. Francisco and his crew arrived early every morning and worked well over 8 hours everyday. The weather was outrageously hot one of the weeks they were here but that did not stop them from working their behinds off! The crew cleaned up everyday, swept, and kept their tools neatly in the backyard. Kyle stopped by every couple of days to check on the progress and made sure we were happy with everything. He also responds to texts outside of business hours. (Sorry Kyle!) We got pavers and turf installed along with a retaining wall and the crew did a great job. Technically, 2.5 stars. I had Install-it-direct work a large project on my house back at the end of 2018. I have given this a little over a year to see how the project held up. Front yard paver driveway, back yard patio, (also with pavers and alumiwood cover), full on turf with a retaining wall for a large area and a fire pit. Needless to say it was a very expensive project. The reason for 2.5 stars is half the projects is amazing, and the other half just isn't holding up. Trust them to do all the pavers. The driveway look incredible. The retaining wall is unbeatable, and the patio / fire pit is honestly so awesome. Where you get the bad is the Turf, landscape, and accent rocks. Within 5 months 8 of the shrubs and plants were dead, while some of them were thriving. They don't care that the plants they put in didn't make it. After I called they just told me that I would have to re purchase them. then comes the weeds. We sprayed, constantly. Seem that whatever weed barrier they put in didn't work at all. Then the Turf started sinking, alumiwood roof has started molding due to poor drainage. Some of the weeds, regardless of how many times we've had it sprayed are just crushing through the turf. It's awful. This is not a low maintenance yard. All that to say, if you're just thinking about getting Pavers done, these guys are great. But anything else, I would look somewhere else. read more

Our yard looked great after the work these guys did! It only took 3 days to finish. It was a day late than was planned (we were notified only the day before that they were rescheduling due to the weather). The cobblestone we initially ordered were not delivered so we had to change it last minute but John (our Install It Direct agent) pulled it through. The workers were very prompt and Noe (the foreman) was very attentive to our needs. We were satisfied with how everything came out. We would definitely recommend them. Update: we used their company again to do our front yard. I admit they took only 1 week to finish and they left everything in good condition. My only complaint was their new agent (if that's what you call it), Brandon. He just was not as good as their previous agent John. He ordered too much rocks than what we needed. (Like half a ton of each rock instead of a few bags). He could have suggested a cheaper alternative if the rock we wanted is not available in smaller quantities. He knew what the rocks were for (what area to put it). We already paid for everything so instead of letting them take it (the excess) back, we just used it for our backyard. He is also not very good at keeping promises (like saying "I'll email you tonight about ...." and I won't get the email till a few days after). Also we were notified that they were going to start our project only 3 days prior (instead of 1 week that Brandon promised us). It was a lot of communication issues which could have been handled more professionally. The project itself was great, except for when we (my husband and I) changed one part of the project and started digging, found some dirt under the rocks that were not disposed of properly and there was a hole left that was not covered by turf as promised (they simply covered it with rocks so it won't be seen). Last year we had turf installed along with tree rings and a bordering wall, Wilber and crew did a great job, Brittney, our designer and contact was awesome. There were some needed touch ups that were a bit delayed but Brittney and Tim (the owner) followed up directly to ensure the work was completed properly. The office manager/scheduler Lidia was on top of everything throughout the job and after. We're really happy how it turned out. Fast forward to last month- we have three very active greyhounds that love to run on the turf. After a year it was becoming worn down in certain areas so I contacted Brittney about having it powerswept to clean up tree debris (they're now gone) and have additional infill put down in an attempt to "renew" the turf. Alan came out and worked really hard to clean the debris (excellent) which was successful but the turf unfortunately didn't bounce back the way we had hoped. These guys realized that the job was not up to expectations and didn't charge us for materials or labor, nada. They stand behind their work, are responsive and take pride in what they do. When we contact them back they had no record of our appointment, we made a second appointment for 4 PM on Friday. This is our first yard project. We bought a new-construction house and need to construct a roughly 3000 sqft yard (including front yard, side yards and backyard). We requested design and Cost estimate from two companies, finally we chose Install-It-Direct for the project based on expected high-quality, good honesty, and less hassle. Now our project has just finished, it turns out our choice was right! We had Big-pavers area: 1400 sqft, Small-pavers area: 450 sqrt, Concrete: 600 sqrt, Turf: 200 sqrt, a retaining wall, and a small area of planting. (1) In the design phase, we had a lot of change requests on the design details, since we are not familiar with the yard design and are learning from neighbors and internet. Sometimes our ideas are based on our previous interior re-modeling projects, which may not be applicable to exterior yard projects. Thomas was very patient and tried his best to meet our requests, and pointed out some problems in some of our requests too. The cost of our initial design exceeded our budget, due to big area of pavers, he gave good ideas of how to reduce the cost. (2) Then we waited for about 2 months for the project to start. In my previous interior re-modelling project, I chose the contractor that can start the project early, but the experience was not good. I learned a lesson from there, so now I chose the contractor primarily based on quality and honesty, and secondly on cost. The cost is at the average level, after comparing with my neighbors costs for similar yard projects and comparing with estimate from another company. (3) During the construction: I want to say, communication is very important, I reminded the construction team some details that was not put into the design plan/figure. You have to think from the construction team point of view, they are doing project by project, those details were nailed down 2 months ago, they may easily forget details unless it is on the design plan, and there are 3 layers of communications here, homeowner -- Project manager/designer (Thomas) -- construction team. I checked the construction results at least once a day, so that if there is a need for change for reminding them, I can request it early, before it is too late to make changes. Thomas accoromandated my request of a design change of the paver pattern, of course I need to pay for the extra labor work because I made the request after the pavers were paved and we realized there is a better pattern. (4) construction schedule: the construction goes pretty fast. Weather is cooperating, the construction team comes to work on it every working day and finished all the pavers, concrete area, Turf, retaining wall, and planting in about 2.5 weeks. The leftover small items (e.g., re-install yard gates, install irrigation timers) was done in the 4th week. (5) Overall, the quality of the project is good, the yard looks really beautiful and unique on my street. The cost is reasonable compared with my neighbors' costs. I had Install-It Direct come out to give me a quote on redoing my backyard with artificial turf and pavers. I'm the kind of guy who gets multiple quotes so I know what range of pricing I'm looking at. Dustin came out and walked us through the process, costs, pros and cons. Their bid came in not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive either so we ended up going with them as I got the best feeling from them as a company. Dustin was helpful in getting some of the design elements arranged as well as offering advice on some alternative ideas. Fast forward to the time for the work to be finished and Santiago and his team showed up. They were very friendly, professional and efficient. They really hammered out the job pretty quickly, did all of the grading as well as installing my pavers and border. Came out the next day and worked until the rain shut them down, then came back out the following day as soon as the sun started to shine to get everything finished. We ran into a slight problem where the drainage wasn't going to work out like it should have when I discussed it with Dustin, but he worked with Santiago's crew to identify a solution and then they took care of it without trying to squeeze more money out of us. All in all we're really very happy with the finished product, our backyard is vastly improved and it was done quickly. This was now our second time working with Install-It Direct with our second home. They installed pavers in our backyard 7 years ago and I never forgot their incredible work ethic & attention to detail. This time around, we needed to landscape our weedy, dreadful frontyard. Our backyard was a hot mess with ugly weeds and dirt. We were tired that we weren't able to enjoy the big outdoor space as much. So this year we finally decided that we need the backyard makeover. We researched multiple paving companies and finally settled on Install-It-Direct. We were not necessarily looking for the lowest cost contractor, but Install-It-Direct's pricing for the project was very competitive plus their great Yelp reviews gave us confidence. We also liked how Shawn (the Sr. Design Consultant) provided us with a very detailed estimate of the project's cost and timeline. We mostly had design ideas done by ourselves, but Shawn had some good input on how we can improve it. With his help we could even lower the cost a bit. We wanted pavers, putting greens, fire pit and a sitting wall around the fire place. The total work from beginning to end took almost 4 weeks (estimate was 3 weeks but there was small delay due to weather and some material shortage). We were very excited when it was done. We had expected longer construction delays, because that's pretty common with construction work schedules. Overall it was a great experience to work with Install-It-Direct. Shawn was very responsive and his team was also very nice to work with (Alfredo and Francisco and their crew). There were few minor things we requested the team to fix, and they completed all. Going through a total remodel (inside & out) I had many experiences working with different type of contractors from plumbing, electrical, etc... While searching for a paver/turf company, I spoke with 2 other paver/turf companies and Install Direct stood out and with the Yelp reviews, the obvious choice. I have to say working with Brittnay and her crew was a very refreshing experience. They were very professional and knowledgeable and were able to explain the processes and timelines. Since this was my first time, I had many questions and never felt that I was a burden. The project started when promised and the Alan and crew started the paver preparation and installation. These guys worked hard and you could tell this was not their first rodeo, they worked together and were truly efficient and thorough. They are truly artists in this trade. Once the pavers were finishing up, Sergio and his team came and to installed the turf. It was nice to see the cohesion between them. Once the project was complete, they did a great job cleaning up the site. I can't say enough about Brittnay, the project manager assigned to my property. From inception, she was very upfront and transparent, which I found very helpful and trustworthy. During the job, I would receive periodic updates, pictures, and any questions to make sure, I was completely satisfied. I am sure you will receive great service and a superior result with Install Direct, but if Brittnay is available, I would highly recommend you try to have her assigned to your project. Had a great experience. Elio was really helpful and way ahead the competitors I met with. Introduction, appearance, backyard design and no hidden fees - this what makes me pick IIT! Definitely worth the money. My yard looks amazing. They were able to start the project as soon as the weather is good and completed in a week. Update 10-2020: Year after the installation. The pavers are still looking great! The turf unfortunately was shedding and IID was able to address this issue without any questions. We tried first to use a rake to clean the fiber but it appears to always come back again. IDD agreed to provide warranty repair free of change and replace the turf in 1 day. It took a little bit of a time due to busy summer timing, but everything was done and we are happy with the new turf. Thanks again for the quality service IID! read more

I decided to go with Install-It-Direct for my backyard remodel because their initial interaction was the most professional. They provided a detailed, itemized, written quote and their prices were competitive (right about in the middle of the 5 quotes I received). They quoted 2 weeks for completion. Not only did it take them 7 months to complete, they did a pretty subpar job. They didn't slope the pavers correctly, so had to continuously send workers out to make corrections. The raised planter had so many issues, they had to send out an entirely different crew to correct all of the issues. They damaged stucco on my house, splattered concrete all over my wrought iron gate that I had to buff off with power tools and refinish myself, poured polymeric sand in the tracks of my sliding glass doors and then wet it so it solidified and didn't bother to clean it up. I could continue to list out all of the issues, but there were so many, it would take too long. Apparently the subcontractors they hired to do my yard were fired the week after they left my project. The project manager, Sam, has apparently left the company as well. I feel like the crew I was assigned was the worst of the worst and I'm left with the aftermath. read more

We had our sidewalk and entryway replaced with pavers by Install-It-Direct. Our project manager was Steve and the installation crew was led by Luis. The project eventually turned out nice, but challenging and some items, such as an operational sprinkler system, remain questionable. The project was originally scoped at 3.5 days, but turned out to be more than 8.5; excluding repeat visits for missed items, such as the optional sealant, a broken pipe that required removal and reinstallation of a section of the pavers and reconfiguration of the sprinklers, which was already mentioned above. Install-It-Direct uses subcontractors for all of the work, which limits their control when projects run behind or have issues. Escalated issues are typically answered with "I can't reach the installation team.." or, "It's been escalated and they aren't calling me back..." which aren't reassuring or actionable responses. Expectations aside, the installation team assigned to us were clearly experts at their job, and willing to put the time in to complete their work, but scheduling after completion spanned nearly six weeks due to their workload. So, word of advice; treat your installation team well and don't pay the full balance until the work is done - period, no excuses! We have two other larger paving projects scheduled, which won't go to Install-It-Direct, since I set a high bar for the projects I pay for. However, I am satisfied with the overall quality of the materials used and end product looks very professional. read more

I wish I could rate Install-It Direct with 1000 stars! I had a full front yard and driveway demo and re-build project (pavers, turf, rock, hardscape, landscape) which seemed daunting to me at first. Mostly, because I couldn't picture what I wanted. From the start of the project design and estimate, to follow up, demo, and install - every step of the way was professional. Thomas, Frank, Nicolas and the entire crew were exceptional. Thomas' design work was amazing, Frank's project oversight totally on point, and Nicolas and the crew were professional, skilled, and did phenomenal work. I felt like I was part of the team the way everyone communicated with me. Everyone that supported this project was fantastic and the design and workmanship is perfect.
