I needed a quick oil change after the many attempts to go to my dealership...they suck! Anyways, i did a quick search on yelp and i found this place Insta Lube! after reading all the great reviews i decided to come here.....i was hesitant at first because i'm always so paranoid about going to places that i've never heard of. so, i go and i'm out in 10 minutes!! and first they told me it was $45 and they only charged me $37 for synthetic blend! I go back 2 weeks later because my engine light turned on, i was in and out in less than 5 minutes. after doing some tests, they told me it was gas cap! whew....glad thats all it was! and it was free of charge. these guys are great! i'll definitely be coming back here! This place is the most simple and fast way to get an oil change!! I've taken my old car here and my moms car here and they let you know not only if there are problems with the oil pan but if you have any leaks and they can often provide the solution or refer you to someone that can. First experience was great! Went for my second one and they did a quick job as usual but this time they didn't shoe me the dipstick which I thought was odd but I didn't think much of it. Come to find out, they broke the plastic part to my dipstick and placed it on the side, next to my engine. Who the hell does that? Like seriously?!!! I was coming up due for an oil change. I pass this place every day to and from work. Finally a decided to drop in for an oil change. I was greeted right away. I was given a very clear run down of my costs given that it was a BMW which I was already well aware of. All of the staff was very friendly and they all smiled. My oil was changed in less than 10 minutes. They also noted that the odometer had high mileage and offered a high mileage oil. I explained that the engine was recently replaced so it was not necessary. All in all, this was a great experience! read more

If you need a fast oil change, come here, if you want a good one who makes sure they're using the right oil and changes your air filter and all that id recommend elsewhere. They didn't ask for the type of oil I wanted, and used the wrong one even though they had the right one, and then they didn't even check the air filter. BUT! They were incredibly fast and nice and simple. Literally pulled up and 7 minutes later was pulling away. I was in a hurry and I'm sure I could of asked for the specific type of oil my manual says, and asked for a filter change but they didn't ask, and I was in a hurry. Super affordable, and fast and friendly, and I didn't even have to get out of my car. I usually go to Walmart, and generally have to wait 1hour or more, but they use the right oil and change the filter for $50, while this place only charged me $37. Overall I liked the place and would recommend it especially if you want the basic oil change, but in my case I was past due and probably needed an air filter change to. Fast and affordable oil changes. I was literally in and out in less than 15 minutes. The location is a little tricky, where if you miss the first right turn, you'll have to go all the way down and make a U-turn or pull into the next parking lot and make two left turns to get back. The owner and employees are very nice. There's not really a waiting room, more like an outdoor waiting area, so I would recommend coming solo or without kids. There's also a sandwich shop (Star Catering) and Jack in the box within walking distance if you're doing some service that would take longer than an oil change. I read through the reviews and decided to give this shop a try as I wanted the swiftness of a drive thru. I have a 3 year old VW Jetta. The oil change was super quick, but when they were done my winsheild washer fluid light was still on. Rather than check to make sure it was full, they said the light had to be reset, insisting they had put washer fluid in first thing. Exactly one week later my winsheild washer fluid ran bone dry. I tend to get oil changes about every 5K miles and have NEVER had this happen between changes, let alone within one week. I called and they told me to bring it back in. I reminded them that my washer fluid dash indicator had never gone off after last week's oil change. They added what I thought was fluid and went on to explain the possible problems my car might have that would have caused the problem including a leak, algae build up in the line, or clogged nipples. They allowed me to walk around to the engine and watch them add the fluid to my car. That is when I noticed all they had added was plain water. I asked why water and not washer fluid. I paid $41+tax and they only put water in the reservoir? So they added some washer fluid, too. Meanwhile, no leaks were found and I declined their offer to come back during the week to have them check the line. When we were done, I started my car and lo and behold, the washer fluid light indicator on my dash was OFF. Imagine that! So, I stopped and called the guy who had looked at it the week prior and showed it to him asking, if they had actually filled the reservoir last week (as he insisted) and the light did not go off, why now had it gone off this time? He continued to insist that he filled it himself. Why not just admit to an oversight? I could have respected that. It happens. But to try and make me feel stupid and imply issues (in a newer car) that do not exist feels pretty damned shady. I will not do business here again. EVER! On a final note, I need to seek a reliable mechanic to help me understand why my gas mileage efficiency would drop significantly after this oil change. I used to get up to 33mpg on the highway pre-InstaLube oil change and the week following, I topped out at 28mpg. Interesting. read more

Been going to Honda for all my service for years, decided to come to this place since it's right down the street from my work. I was pretty skeptical at first since I do baby my vehicle and in my mind I was thinking if it's not original it's not worth it. Came by today bright and early at 7:50, they don't open until 8:00 but they took me in right away. I was greeted by what I think to be the owner I didn't get his name but he was the most friendly guy I've met! I don't know much people that smile like him at 7:50 in the morning. He told me to pull in and it would take ten minutes, are you kidding me? And I could wait in my car. And it legit took only ten minutes. While they where doing the oil change I did notice the tech checked my fluids, and my air filter which was not expected. Pay cheap get cheap service? Wrong, not here. My vehicle is lowered and I had broken a few clips off of my engine cover, so the plastic was dangling. they informed me and I told them I knew, but they went a step ahead and removed it for me which I thought was great! Manager/Owner came up to me informed me on the services they do and I thought wow, I'm never going back to Honda. And it was more of an informative conversation, I didn't get the vibe that he was trying to make me buy his service like Honda does. Wow, these guys were nothing short of fantastic. I was about to go to jiffy lube when yelp listed this as an alternative on the side, and I'm extremely glad it did. I drove up and was immediately directed to pull my car into the garage. I was greeted by a very friendly and professional associate who confirmed the details of what I needed (oil type, etc). They got to work while I sat in the car and chatted with the person who greeted me. Less than 10 minutes later everything was done and I paid $41 for a synthetic oil blend and the filter. They also checked all of my other fluids while they were under the hood which was greatly appreciated. Everyone seemed extremely pleasant and professional. I've never had an oil change that quick or that pleasant in my entire life. My only regret is that I no longer live in the bay area and won't be able to use them unless I happen to be down here on business in my personal vehicle like I am now. read more

I have been taking my car to this place for about a year and a half without issue. That all changed on one fateful morning. It all started with a simple oil change in my 2005 Impreza. No big deal, right? I am standing there chatting with the nice manager guy like I always do and watching them get to work on my vehicle. There is a kid underneath doing what I presume is the usual... draining my oil pan and changing the oil filter. A number of minutes pass, and I notice this kid is still down there busily doing something that is taking way too long. Red flag #1. I ignore this, like an idiot. I pay, and the kid from underneath is now topside. The job is done, and he conveys a little message to me: "Sir I would like you to know that your transmission appears to have a slight leak." Hmmm..... no it does not, why are you telling me this? I check fluid levels in a very OCD fashion, there has never been any evidence of any leakage, and the transmission has always shifted smoothly and reliably. Red flag #2. I partially ignore this, but challenge him with skepticism. He tells me he just wiped it off where it was wet with fluid. Uhhh okay. I ignore this and continue on. All paid up, "services" rendered.... time to roll! A nice fresh oil change, my car always loves this! I pull out, making a right onto Winton. The car will not shift out of first like it usually does (an automatic, but I am perceptive to which gear it is in). I have perhaps made it 300 feet. The engine surges and the car upshifts into 2nd with a huge lurch, a terrifying jolt is sent throughout the powertrain. The torque converter is freaking out and the most ugly sounds are accompanying this terrifying situation. Slam, bam, groan... JFC my poor car. I proceed to make an illegal turn back to the shop while nursing the speed to keep it in its current gear. I make it back to the shop by some miracle (perhaps 1000 feet). Back at the garage, I see the kid (absolute moron) and Mr Ponytail (who seems cool) sitting at the back picnic tables waiting for the next customer. I get out and approach them, and as I near them, I immediately see this kid double, triple, quadruple take at the sight of my impending arrival. A wave of terror visibly overcomes him. I begin interrogating this imbecile. "What on Earth did you do to my Subaru? Tell me. Tell me right. F*ucking. Now." "Nothing, nothing, what do you mean?" "You warned me that my transmission was leaking - which we both know it was not - and now it is shifting horribly and my entire drive train is being lurched to the maximum. Fix this situation at once or I am going to lose it." Turns out, the idiot kid working underneath accidentally drained my transmission and lied about it. There was no leak. Just some idiot kid who couldn't find the oil pan. Apparently the transmission doesn't behave very well when it is driven sans fluid. No fault was admitted, and I managed to get them to refill and top up the transmission. The fact that the car took 4.25 quarts of ATF to "top it up" didn't even seem to register to them as significant. My assertions were brushed off. Fast forward 1200 miles or so. The transmission was not behaving correctly at all despite monitoring the fluid level very closely. This past weekend on I-5, the timing belt broke at 75 with about 15k left in its service life. The car is now f*cking dead and living at a junkyard in Ashland Oregon. I hope it likes Shakespeare. The extra strain this situation put on the engine and total drivetrain was just too much for her. RIP. And I owe it all to that idiot kid they have working there (chubby young asian fellow - if you see this kid tell them to get someone else underneath - preferably Mr Ponytail). Long story short... these guys are really fantastic until the day they destroy your car. Draining a transmission accidentally and lying about it? Absolutely unacceptable. If the dummy simply said "Hey man, I accidentally drained your ATF, I totes goofed broski... gonna be about 10 minutes more while we get this situation resolved" instead of "Uhhhh you have a very minor transmission leak, you might wanna get it checked out??????" and subsequently killing my car.... I would continue to be a happy returning customer. A little honesty goes a long way. Watch these idiots like a hawk. I have no recourse now for their very expensive mistake. I will be doing all my services myself in the future, like I used to do. There is too much risk taking your vehicle to these quick lube idiots. read more

OK, Im super picky where I take my 7 Series BMW to have an oil service...First off, they have IN STOCK (the only place around) MOBILE 1 0w Oil...this is what BMW reccomends...I saved $200.00 to have the same job done with OEM filters as if I would have taken my car to Weatherford BMW in Berkeley (where most my service are done)...They will also be doing my tranny service all OEM...which will save me $300...Everyone here is coherent with European vehicles, Top Notch Customer Service....Amazing Prices...seriously...and VERY quick....I cannot give this shops enough praise! The fact that they asked was really nice as I've had companies in the past do it without me wanting it done then charging me. After the oil change he checked the dip stick and showed me that it was good. In and out after maybe 15 minutes. Never even got out of the car. This is not just an oil change shop. They can do it all. I have a 2001 BMW and the young guy in the shop is pretty good with it. I bought it used and have had all sorts of problems. I took the car to the BMW dealer in Fremont and they tried to charge me three times what Insta Lube charged for a tune up and brakes. Their oil change service is fast and thorough but if you need a little more service to your vehicle, they are a one stop shop. I highly recommend this place. read more

I drive a Chrysler Sebring, and after inquiring at different places for a transmission fluid drain and fill (all of whom told me that it was not possible for my car, that my car needed the more expensive transmission flush), I called Insta Lube and went there because their prices were much cheaper than others and they were located near my work. They were very friendly and they let me watch (I had read about places that charged you for service without actually doing anything so I wanted to make sure I got what I paid for). They even explained to me what they were doing while they were doing it. With my own two eyes, I saw a mechanic reach under my car and unplug the drain (that supposedly didn't exist). I watched the transmission fluid drain out of my car and I watched them fill it back up. At that moment, I decided to get an oil change. Those were the only two things I paid for. In addition to great customer service, they checked all the fluids in my car, filled up the windshield wiper fluid, and put air into the tires. I am very happy with this place and I will definitely go back! read more
