(before they were even in the Amherst office, and it was just Dr. Mike) When things started to go bad 2-3 years ago, I excused it as a bad day at the office for them. But the issues are repetitive, and getting worse, not better. Problem #1 - They cannot seem to keep on time, if they can make or keep your appointment at all. The last 3 appointments in my family have gone: - sat in Orchard Park office waiting room 1 hour beyond appointment time to be called back - cancelled by the Amherst office 3 days before appointment (after waiting 7 months to get an appointment) - sat in Orchard Park office waiting room 1 hour beyond appointment time to be called back. For people with jobs, who need to take time off work for these appointments, this is a miserable mess. Problem #2 - The cost estimates are always lower than the bill. I'm sure they would blame this on the insurance companies, and if it was a one-time issue I would agree. But it is every single time. These can be big expenses, and bad estimates can cause major budgeting issues. Problem #3 - they just don't care anymore. They will fix any problems... maybe... if and when they feel like it. Had a filling fall out and you're in pain whenever you eat or drink? Maybe they will consult with you in a couple weeks, just consult. If they are in a good mood, they will give you a temporary filling that surely will hold for the 6+months until they will actually fix the problem (more appointments = more money). If you want your child's first experience with a dentist to be fun, go for it. They will be happy with the bright colors and such. But the second they indicate anything more than a cleaning be done, it is time to look elsewhere. Note: the "business manager" for this place has previously shown a phone number where they would prefer to discuss issues (under complaint reviews at other Winning Smile Offices). I called this number: - They do not identify who the number is for - it goes to a voicemail of someone other than the "business manager" - a little research finds this is a number used by National Dental Service organization based out of Pittsburgh, so you're not going to reach anyone who knows anything about offices in Buffalo. Maybe this is the problem. Maybe outsourcing to a conglomerate is when all the personality and caring faded from this office, and the patients are only dollar signs now.

The staff is super nice, very knowledgable and Dr. Trautman has a very calm manner of interacting with the kids. The folks that do the teeth cleaning are awesome and somehow have managed to make it an event for the girls to head over. They explain everything to them, and have never been the least bit pushy. I remember the first day my older daughter was there, sitting in the chair with huge sunglasses on, almost seeming to enjoy what was happening ... she left wanting to be a dentist. Now she wants to be a cat-unicorn though, so take that for what it's worth. The facility itself is clean and bright, with a big fish tank and a train that runs along the ceiling. It has an open floor plan so you can really see what goes on in the place and it's pretty interesting. The building itself is centrally located right off North Buffalo road, in the heart of Orchard park. I'm writing this review because after we left there today, my daughter was smiling like crazy and happy because she felt really proud of herself for having a great checkup and I believe that Dr. Trautman and his staff had a big part of that moment of goodness.
