The fantastic golf course is run by former colleagues of mine and we had arranged an outing for a few groups. The course is immaculately groomed, with generous undulating fairways. The rough is fairly forgiving but if your ball goes into the dense brush forget about looking for it. It's very dense! Trees aren't much of a problem on this course, except for the finishing holes. Water comes into play on only two holes. Kudos to the staff for keeping the course in such great condition. The driving range is a modest setup, with several flags as targets. The distances are shown on a sign in the tee area. There is also a club washer. Golf carts are electric so they're quiet, and especially nice on this really hot day. They even have a cooler attached to keep you beverages cool. And USB ports to keep your devices charged! There was a group of ladies playing a mini tournament ahead of us. They were walking the course. Good for them! Several of us stuck around for a bite and some drinks on their large patio overlooking the 10th hole. The food was decent but the wait time was very long and the execution could have been much better. Proper French fries would have been preferred over the potato chips or home fries. One carrot stick with my wings? Really??? This needs to be improved. Some of our group had reservations at the resort. Despite the hot weather, everybody enjoyed the day and loved the golf course. I'm sure we'll be back!

The customer service beats any competition by a mile with the nicest people greeting and taking care of your every need. This year Peter and Bryan have levelled up the food and kitchen as well as made for entertaining mens league on Thursday evenings. I've golfed almost every course nearby and will continue to spend my days practicing and making bad golf shots here.

We were a group of three who also rented a golf set for CAD20.00. Before we teed off, we hit a few warmup shots at the range which is very appropriately located within a few metres from the pro shop. There's ample parking for you to park your vehicle, very close to the pro-shop. Tha pro shop and the parking are what sit between the first 9 holes and the remaining 9 holes. The course offers a good mix of Par 5 & Par 3 holes, with quite a few water hazards but not as many bunkers. Or maybe I was having a good day. There are locations brandishing the QR code, which I believe, is for refereshments. We didn't utilise the QR codes but we did visit the bar or the 19th hole as it's called after completing the first 9 holes to quench our thirst. Given it was one of those colder autumn days, I drank the Hot Chocolate, which was way too watery for my liking. The management makes it pretty clear that they do not support the concept of BYOB but that's understandable. All in all we enjoyed our round!

Hawk Ridge holds the distinction of being the nicest golf course in Orillia. As a result of being a…read morebig fish in a microscopic pond, the staff are generally pretty high on their horses and seem to think that they work at Glen Abbey. The course is 45 holes, which might make you wonder whether Orillia's population could possibly support that many holes. The answer appears to be that it can't, as it's almost always dead. You can get a tee time in the middle of summer at 10 am on a Saturday by calling the day before if you are so inclined. They have an 18 hole course called "Meadow-Nest", another 18 called "Timber-Ridge" and a par 3 called "Hawk's Island". The Timber-Ridge is terrible. The Timber portion could be nice but it is always soaking wet so the grass doesn't grow properly and the Ridge aspect is just really boring. Everyone knows that Timber-Ridge sucks so they are constantly offering deals like $45 for 18 and a cart, while Meadow-Nest would cost more like $80 for the same thing. The par 3, like any par 3, is a waste of your time. The Meadow-Nest is really quite nice. The Meadow portion is pretty long and fairly open, while the Nest is more treed and shorter. The entire course has a creek running back and forth that makes it more difficult than it would be otherwise. The driving range is also really good. It has real grass to hit from, instead of mats, and it is deep and wide so there is no need for netting or anything. They also serve good food and have a lot of options with a gazeebo at the turn, a small restaurant that includes a nice patio and a large space that usually hosts weddings and things of that nature.

Snow tubing review…read more Great price, it's $25 for two hours of fun which is more reasonable than lakeridge being $40. Both places have 4 tubing lanes that seem roughly same height. This place has smaller tubes for minimum height of 40 inches while Lakeridge is minimum 42 inches and only one size. So this is a friendlier place for little ones starting their tubing experience, as they need to be able to reach the grip. We love going as a group of tubes, lots of fun spinning down the slope. Only down side here is there is only one lift for all users. So the lift gets shared with tubers, skiers, and snowboarders. It's a standing carpet that seems to get stuck often. Approximately 3-4 rides per hour, due to crowds or stalling of lift, and it wasn't that busy on our visit. Staff here are all friendly, free parking. Easy booking online for slotted time, check in outside the building for passes. Washrooms are small but clean. Lots of indoor cafeteria seating. Small outdoor seating by wood burning fire pit. Small cafeteria, Dina's which serves decent burgers, poutines and simple snacks. The prices are reasonable, it's just really slow service. Waited 12 mins for poutine ($8) and it wasn't busy. Tip: There is a free sledding hill but you need to bring your own sled and walk up the hill. For reference, this hill is a good training hill for those new to ski/snowboard. Pretty narrow and short but great to learn from. It wasn't busy when we were there so that helps learners. Jump ramps were highlighted in blue on the snow.

I got my first tubing experience here, the hill is pretty small, but the overall experience is not bad. As I said before, this place has only one small hill, it is shared between tubing and skiing. We went on a Sunday afternoon, and there are so many kids. Each ride takes 20 mins wait time. There is only one magic carpet shared among all people. Also, there are only 3 slides for tubing. Small, but a good place to spend afternoon with family or group.

It's pretty loosey goosey, instead of this system a stamp system should be used or a passport system because if they are using this for liability is a signature request under duress (is what I understand from my legal eagle knowledge). Considering the risk, I would say more needs to be done. The whole course are supervised and the summer hired students are trained to radio each other when a new person is going on the course. The two customer limit on platform are loosely reinforced. I did find that some of the platforms were short on the landing for the mini zipline sections. And on the course the student hires warned us it's slippery because it was wet. Perhaps add some slip grips just because you're flying in at high speed into the landing in some cases (especially when you're pretty large). Good things is that if you wanted the zipline experience you get it through the whole course. You can get away with just paying for the whole course. If you're a parent you may want to go in and just have a look how things are run before putting your kids through the track for the peace of mind. The other thing is that you also want to have a telephoto lens on your slr if you're watching from the ground or hookup your child with a go pro for the fun of watching later. Overall difficulty was intermediate. I think to level up try the course without holding on anything. This was my first time doing this. I would have preferred more physical challenges on the course. There are washrooms behind the sign in cabin. Two toilets in the female. But if you want cleaner go back to the resort. So I rated this four star for the following reason. 1. Price point is steep on a single visit, even with coupons. Season pass may be better; 2. The course liability on-site could be better, I just wonder what happened if there was an accident and if the location did enough to protect customers; 3. The course is full of student employees, surely trained well. But considering young kids on the course a few adult staff would make it feel safer. There were times when I know none if the staff we watching me because I was sloppy on the security straps-without realizing until my date warned me (thanks); 4. Washrooms are not clean on the premise of the trekking. Go to horseshoe resort.

It's down a bit of a hill from the road, and you'll see a parking lot on the right which is where you park. While you can continue to drive down to the beach, there is no parking and you would be blocking emergency vehicles in the event of a problem. The bathrooms are pretty good here and there were lots of people on that warm and windy day in August. This is a great spot to keep in mind when in Barrie as it's close to downtown.

This beach is great for young families as it's shallow for a really really long stretch out. The sand is very fine and one of the best in Ontario. Beautiful views of the Blue mountain and distillery side on the left. No life guards here though. Two washrooms on either end of the beach with a foot wash tap. There are a few retro wooden playgrounds in the middle of it. They even have those old style metal slides that give a second degree burn when the sun heats it up but the kids love to run up it. No restaurants or food stalls here so pack well. Rules are more relaxed here, people are having coal burning bbqs, pop up tents are allowed. No dogs allowed and an atv patrol rolls back and forth to keep an eye on things. Very relaxing day.

The water is generally clean, allot cleaner than Lake Ontario. Wasaga is actually know to be the largest fresh water beach in the world. The sand is fine and there is a tractor that grooms it and cleans any garbage from the beach in the early morning hours. If you don't mind the larger crowds on the weekend this is the beach to visit.
