Excellent studio with wonderful teachers in a great location at the perfect price point. I have gone to about four classes over the last three weeks, and I just adore this studio. I've been practicing Pilates for a while now in several places in the East Bay, but this is by far the best experience I have had! The classes they offer are all filled with dedicated classmates from all walks of life, with no emphasis on a "cool kid" vibe, even though it is a really beautiful new studio. Also, although I normally work out only on the Reformer Pilates machines, I have found Kiki's Pilates mat work to be more of a core workout than anything I have ever tried before! read more

Working in sessions with Miriam Drace, she has a wonderful energy, smart, progressive, Pilates, Aryuveda, and very intuitive. I echo the other reviews that she is an excellent listener, can pinpoint what you need and can talk thoroughly and as geekily as you need about your body, anatomy, and strength, as well as recommending classes and other instructors at Innerstellar that would be right for me. It's exciting to work with someone who can discuss issues so intelligently. Our work together, while only at the beginning phase, got to something much more difficult for me, heart opening. She was able to illuminate so much about this injury I sustained 7 months ago to this skeptical, cynical client, that I very much look forward to our work together. read more

I was first introduced to Forrest yoga at a weekend clinic at YogaKula, led by the fabulous Dr. Sara Gottfried (check her out if you haven't yet). The room was hot, it was uncomfortable and sweaty, and I didn't quite get what was going on. But by the end of the two hours I was hooked and the next morning I woke up feeling positive and energized. So when I heard that Kiki--who assisted at the YogaKula workshop--was opening her own studio, I had to try it. Now I'm a regular and a super-fan, thanks to Kiki, Marisha, Melanie, Sarah, Ruthie and all the great teachers there. I've never been a "yoga person" or a "pilates lady" but since finding these gems, I've been going nearly every day. It's a studio of acceptance and inspiration. Check it out. It might change your life. read more

Amazing studio and teachers. I've taken machine and mat pilates classes here as well as nearly every offering of Forrest yoga class, as well as several workshops. Across the board the staff and teachers are intuitive and skilled leaders. This is a great studio and an asset to the East Bay community. read more

I love this studio! I have been going since it open in November last year. I don't know why it took me so much to write a review... but here it goes! If you are a Forrest yoga lover, this is the place for you... you will find outstanding (and this is not an overstatement) Forrest yoga teachers (including Kiki Lovelace, Marisha Doan and Michelle Cordero) and Forrest yoga events. If you are not a Forrest yoga lover... this is also a place worthy to try, because it also provide vinyasa flow, hatha, restorative, prenatal and postnatal yoga classes. This place is definitely growing in their yoga variety so keep it in your radar :) Furthermore, you can also get Pilates classes which in my opinion is an amazing complement for your yoga practice. Both disciplines are so different but they work beautifully together, since you learn about precise and small movements in Pilates, and breathing techniques and the art of being present in yoga. Also, I think that the pricing is really good.. check it out $16 for 1 $75 for 5 $130 for 10 $99/month for Unlimited Classes - this is the best deal that I know of! So check it out! read more

Been going here for prenatal yoga since Jessica moved her classes here (love her!!). Great space, super nice owners and employees. Bright studio. Love it! read more

This place is truly a sanctuary. I started taking classes with Kiki, the owner, before she opened Innerstellar and I fell in love with her classes. I followed her to Innerstellar and I can't recommend this place enough! This is an amazing local business and it is run with love. Marisa, the manager, is super friendly and is also an awesome teacher. If you are looking for a community of fitness mixed with compassion and healing, this is your place. Pilates was never something on my radar, but after a bad back injury the Pilates at Innerstellar was amazing in my healing process. The yoga is my favorite, and the instructors are super knowledgeable about injuries and modifications to make sure that everyone in the studio has the most beneficial practice. read more

$20 for 3 classes, took an AMAZIN 1.5 hours innerstellar yoga class felt so great after, definitely bring a towel though :))

Love this place -- it is low-key, friendly, airy and clean and the classes are great. Always lifts my mood to be there. They serve tea at the desk. Going to Interstellar is a treat. :) read more

I like coming here for pilates classes with Alissa! I like the small class size and relaxing atmosphere. stay for a cup of tea after class :) read more

I bought the new student special, 3 classes for $20, intending to try several teachers there. But I found what i was looking for after going to Crystal's Monday/Wednesday night class and decided to stick with her. She is new to the area so the classes aren't full yet. I get lots of individual attention and much appreciated adjustments for my tight hamstrings and achey lower back. The room is slightly heated which helps me warm up. I got a good sweat (needed it) during the vinyasa flow and, with her mindful instructions about alignment, find myself going deeper into the poses. Crystal also has a subtle way of weaving yoga philosophy into the asana that can really heighten a student's awareness of the whole yoga experience. But it's always the day after class that I really feel the benefits. My whole body feels more open and there is a new lightness and lift in my step! I've been practicing (with some downtime) for about 7 years and have tried many different teachers, but rarely walk away with the total body experience like this. I have a regular teacher at another studio and was beginning to wonder if I was outgrowing him. I went back to him after Crystal's class and found that they compliment each other perfectly. Somehow the more familiar lessons in his class feel more fresh since adding crystal as a new teacher to my practice, and I realize i can continue growing with both teachers. Oh, and the studio is lovely too...very CLEAN! read more

Interstellar goes from strength to strength. I am very time constrained and practicing with Kiki never fails to be an extraordinarily wise use of my precious yoga hours. And each visit to practice with her strengthens my belief that she is truly compassionate and creative and authentic. Definitely make this place a stop on your yoga journey. From the moment you step through the door, you are transported out of city life. It starts from the top and Kiki leads by example. Yes, you will see her teaching and you will see her moving around the pilates equipment as well. Whatever level of practitioner you are, if you want to work with a top teacher, make sure you check out her classes and her studio. She is definitely one of the best. read more

I followed Kiki over from Namaste and I have to say I'm thrilled she opened her new place. It seems like most of the other Yelpers are talking about the yoga classes but I come here for the pilates mat classes. It's great to find a place that has pilates mat classes five days a week. At first I stuck to Kiki's classes but now i enjoy the variety and the flexibility of going any day during the week. The teacher all have their own emphasis, I like Ruthie's class which is a vigorous workout. Sara and Lila also teach good classes and I enjoy the variety of props they use which make each class different. Highly recommended, I've gone for the $99 monthly deal which works well for me and encourages me to go to more classes. read more

Just decided to take Yoga/Pilates classes as I (and my husband) thought I should challenge myself and try out different ways of exercising besides just being in a traditional gym (treadmills, weights etc...). Anyways, I used yelp reviews to locate this place and I have to say, so far so good. I am going through the tryout special and will go ahead and just be an active member. I really enjoy the new challenges and like the way the instructors guide you and help you understand everything. Very peaceful environment, welcoming. Highly recommended! read more

I love Innerstellar. Awesome, real vibe. Teachers and clients alike are cool, not cliquey or aggressive like some yoga places can be. I credit finding the place to pilates instructor Lila Heller. I followed her from another studio because of her awesome technical and knowledgeable teaching, and glad I found this new place! I take her Tues. and Thurs. classes whenever I can and my body always loves me for it. In addition to being an amazing pilates teacher, Lila is a wonderful and kind spirit, who always has her students' interests and needs at heart. Since being at Interstellar, I've tried yoga for the first time, taking Forrest and Stellarflow, and the teachers, especially Kiki, are super skilled and genuine. You can't go wrong, and the staff is dedicated to making your experience excellent and helping you get what you need. read more

Forrest yoga is just what's needed for deep, emotional bodywork. Innerstellar has great, professional instructors that help guide students through the process of reaching deep and opening up. Each instructor has their own style so be patient with finding the one that works for you, the heat and intensity. At first it can be intimidating, but the emotional and physical benefits are worth the work and wait. Kiki has created a beautiful and warm studio. read more

This is a truly great yoga studio! I started in Kiki's classes just before she opened Innerstellar and have been inspired to move from a once a week student to five classes a week of both yoga and pilates. As everyone says, she is an amazing teacher, but she also has the ability to hire fabulous teachers so you can look at the varied and full schedule offered and pick the type of class and time of day you want and be assured that each teacher is personable and excellent. I might particularly note Michelle and Marisha, but I've never had even a mediocre teacher there, including subs. Everyone at the front desk is helpful and friendly. Kiki creates a spirit of community that allows for friendliness and humor while maintaining the deepest focus and reverence within the classes. read more

Great yoga and teachers (I like Michelle and Aviva), class times are very awkward for someone working 9-5 (and commuting), though. I think the studio would be a better fit for me if I did pilates also. read more

First private session of Pilates with Miriam. Great experience. The studio is bright and clean. Miriam was very knowledgeable and a great teacher. I am of course going back. read more

This is a great studio for Pilates, yoga, and more! I really enjoy the Pilates Reformer and Forrest Yoga classes! All the instructors are great! Personally, I have never been to another studio that is so all-inclusive! Innerstellar offers not only Pilates and yoga but also massages, facials, and nutrition counseling (among other things). All of the instructors and staff are knowledgeable and approachable before and during classes and it's obvious that the people at Innerstellar are truly concerned and committed to the wellness of all. I have been struggling with lower back pain for a while, which is what brought me to Pilates and Forrest Yoga, and since I've been attending classes regularly at Innerstellar, I have noticed a significant difference in my body! I will defiantly continue to frequent this studio! Also, they have great evening classes during the week (for those of us who have obligations during the majority of the day). The only down side is that they only offer morning weekend classes, none in the late afternoon or evening... But if you're a new student at Innerstellar, they have some really good starting deals. Last thing, the studio is clean, small, and intimate, and accessible by BART and bus! read more

I've been taking the mixed-machine pilates classes at Innerstellar for about a year and a half now, and I really love them. The small-group format (max 5 people) means I get good personal attention without having to pay for private lessons (which are out of my price range). In particular, I take Megan and Alissa's classes regularly. They are both wonderful instructors who have each had a positive impact on my strength and on how my body feels day-to-day. I think the overall quality of the instruction, facilities, equipment, and staff are all really high at Innerstellar, and I would recommend it as a studio for anyone from a beginner to an experienced pilates student. . read more

My husband and I decided to give pilates a whirl, so we signed up as novices at innerstellar yoga and pilates. We have had an excellent experience! Our instructor, Ryn, could not be sweeter or more knowlegeable. She has been patient and encouraging with both of us, and knows how to gently and clearly describe how to do the pilates moves. We are really happy to have found innerstellar and their great staff. read more

Innerstellar is a beautiful yoga studio. I'm very drawn to Forrest yoga, which enables you to relax your neck during postures. The studio is a sublime space, with antique exposed timber beams and skylights with a view of the stars. I love savoring a cup of warm, fragrant tea after each class. One of my favorite instructors there is Kelsey. Her instruction is somehow motivating, blissful and playful simultaneously. She dedicates each of her classes to a different goal, like discovery, gratitude, or healing. It's always different and constantly broadens my perspective on what yoga can accomplish. Sometimes she will surprise you with her beautiful singing during shavasana. Once, she gave me a shoulder adjustment and I've never been so blissfully comfortable while laying down in my life. But the best part is how she connects with her students and inspires self-care. read more

I've been attending classes here for two years now. Every teacher is excellent. Each class I take is special, teachers really prepare and care about the quality of each class they teach. It's not hot yoga but it IS warm yoga (they turn on heater). The heat aspect as well as the Pilates infused, fast paced classes guarantees a serious workout. Seriously, most of these classes are relaxing and cleansing but they are major sweaty workouts. LOVE. Personally, 1.5 hrs is too long for me (I like hour long classes) but I go anyways because these classes are so high quality. read more

It did not surprise me that with 22 reviews this place had 5 stars. I have only been there a few times and that was as a guest musician. I felt great, felt welcome, loved the people, space, front desk, props. This is a place I would be going back to more if I was centered in this area. There was even a Groupon discount. Right across from Berkeley Bowl and parking even has been pretty easy. read more

I absolutely love this studio. I found them via groupon a while back and mostly took the pilates mat classes. I thought all of the instructors were phenomenal, each with their own style which I appreciated because all of the classes were different. I highly recommend checking out this studio, you won't be disappointed. read more

Every week I take Eyla Moore's Pilate Mat class (Wed 12:15-1:15). It is such a good workout and really helps my sciatica! Eyla is a fun, careful, attentive teacher who cares about how I do in class. This yoga studio has changed my life! I created a Yelp account just to review it. I started taking classes here around a year ago. At the time, I had so much neck and back pain that I had to take off a few days of work a month. I tried chiropractics, massage, and Pilates with some temporary relief but nothing seemed to help for more than a day. I tried yoga classes all over the Bay Area, but never found one that I liked before coming to this studio. Within a few classes, my body felt better than it had in years. I absolutely love Forrest yoga, the feel of this studio, and every instructor here. These classes are great for core strength building, improving posture, fun inversions, and deep relaxation. Instructors ask at the beginning of class if anyone has any injuries and will help each student modify their practice accordingly. Each teacher has a different strength. Some use their excellent anatomical knowledge and detail oriented attention to help push your practice to the next level. Others are more intuitive and relaxation oriented, and help you to settle deeper into your physical experience. I love that teachers sometimes sing or use bells during Savasana. Their voices are beautiful and it feels like a positive heart-warming thing. Highly recommend this studio to anyone who has injuries, wants to improve core strength, posture, or just for all around grounded yoga practice. It's the best! read more

I am a retired dental hygienist and suffered from chronic pain in my neck, shoulders and wrists. I took a private session with KiKi, the owner of this amazing yoga/pilates studio. She knew exactly which exercises I needed to do to heal these areas. She made sure that I understood how to do these exercises at home and wrote them down in detail for me. Money well spent as I am pretty much PAIN FREE which is a miracle! read more

I am completing my Forrest yoga mentorship program here with Kiki and Colleen. Each weekend has been very powerful and a great space for learning, practice, and sharing. Innerstellar is a gem in Berkeley! I would have given it 10 stars if I could. come here because i accidentally bought a groupon. what a nice mistake :). i've taken a few forrest and vinyasa classes (and also one hatha class) by different instructors and they've all been great. marisha is particularly great - walks around and helps correct your posture/pose, which i appreciate. everyone is friendly and the studio is clean and well-kept. i haven't had any problems with the booking, either. i like the warmth of the studio to help relax and the proximity to berkeley bowl is a bonus. read more
