This is a very nicely kept hotel. Our room is clean, and it is very convenient to have a…read morerefrigerator and microwave in the room. When we checked in they had warm cookies, which I DEFINITELY did not pass up. Delish! There's a nice variety of channels to choose from when we want to wind down in the evening. They also have a nice indoor pool and hot tub, which I think we'll check out this evening. At breakfast there was a pretty good variety. I do wish I would have seen juice down there, but the attendant was very attentive to everything. This was my first time staying at an AmericInn, but they are definitely on my radar now.

Horrible customer service and ridiculous policy…read more In order for my 14 year old daughter and her friend to swim on a "day pass" that needed to be accompanied by someone over 18. Ok, fair enough. I was charged to be in the pool room, not swimming because their policy states an adult must be there. In the pool room, not in the lobby, which has a window to the pool. I was charged because they "fill to capacity and run out of chairs" there are literally 5 people in the whole room as I type this and not a single person sitting in a chair other than me. When I asked the front desk person about how I could get a hold of the manager to question the ridiculous policy I was told "no, it's the weekend and she will tell you the same thing". What a shit attitude. I understand capacity limits. How about not selling day passes if they are at capacity so you don't have to charge someone to sit and do nothing. I have reccomend AmericInn to out of town visitors in the past but will never again.

Pluses: Good location for Spring Valley attractions. Good breakfast, nice lounge area, good pool…read more& exercise room. Friendly staff Minuses: Lousy wi-fi, and the area is in a cell-phone hole as well, so you really notice it. But the big complaint was were the incredibly damp and moldy accommodations. Strong smell of mold in our room and to a lesser degree the hallway. Any clothes that we had hanging in the room got damper by the day. As other reviewers have noted, every room needs its own dehumidifier. Carpets should get ripped out and air conditioners checked for mold. This is a health hazard and made our stay much more unpleasant than we expected.

Breakfast was much better than average for a free hotel breakfast. The room was very clean and neat. Beds were fine. Now here was the big problem. The wing we were in was extremely musty to the point I was getting concerned about what I was breathing in. I think the ac unit just added to the problem. Ended up sleeping with the window open......which not everyone would feel comfortable doing. Now when I mentioned it to the staff they did offer me a room a few doors down but that room did not smell a whole lot better.....apparently nothing else was available. Now it had been extremely hot with high humidity the several days before our arrival. The hotel had fans going in the hall which was our first clue there was a problem. The smell of the room was tolerable but just barely. Clearly an on going problem.

The room was clean and had a great mattress! Which is so important. Two slight problems that may be specific to the room we were staying in. The padlock on the door was pretty touchy. It took us at least three tries to get into our room each time. I would've much preferred a card key. The second problem we had was the volume on our TV. It didn't work properly. It was very loud, but you could not turn it down, nor could you turn it up. We're pretty tech savvy and we could not figure out how to solve this problem. And since there's no one on site, although the ladies were very good at getting back to us quickly, I didn't feel like walking into an empty lobby at night to try to grab a remote. That was the solution. That being said, it was a lovely stay. And the two women who run the motel are very responsive if you have a problem.

We first stayed in a single room ( sorry forgot pictures) but it was super clean and neat. Simple queen bed, small bathroom with shower but all top notch. Even had an smart tv. Since we were here for a festival, our two kids decided to join us. The staff was awesome to help us out with what I would call a suite. Basically 2 rooms joined together. SleJust as nice, had everything we needed. They even moved over the items we forgot in the first fridge. Every room has a bench to sit outside and enjoy the country air. They also have a nice sitting area outside if you have a group who wants to gather. It's right on the edge of downtown so walking to the main streets is easy and you can even walk the sugar river trail which goes by right in front of the place. It also has a drive thru coffee stand being built which looks really nice. As a whole, very nice for an updated motor lodge. It's kind of nice to stay at places like this instead of the corporate places. It is a slight bit pricey but worth it for the service and experience!

The Swiss hotel is very cute and located less than 2 blocks away from the downtown area where the fests were. The hotel is also dog-friendly, which was important during our stay. I'm giving 4-stars because the hotel needs a little upgrading and my husband didn't care for the breakfast he had. The scrambled eggs were watery and there wasn't any butter for the pancakes. Also to note, our room was neat and looked clean but we noticed the recycling hadn't been taken out and I'm certain the shower wasn't cleaned before we arrived because there was a white residue all over the shower handle. Overall, I would stay here again because of the location, it's dog-friendly, and I loved the Swiss charm.

The windows had cobwebs, the room was dark and dreary and looked like nothing had been updated probably since they opened. Not only all that but I brought my own pillow, forgot it at the hotel and when I called no one could find it. This was no regular pillow. It was a square pillow with a BIG blue circle in the middle of it especially made for neck issues. Anyone could have seen that this was no regular pillow. Where or where could it be???. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and if you do stay there, look out for thieves and bring cleaning supplies.
