Wisconsin vending machine
Michelle S.

Really surprised by this dog friendly, conveniently located find in Monroe. Staffed by a friendly crew, this is a clean and comfortable hotel with an "Only in Wisconsin" cheese and sausage vending machine! What??? Reasonable prices for an inn with a pool and spa and an adequate workout room. Only problem is that there is no elevator and if you have a bunch of luggage, I suggest you get a first floor room which they should have told me when I made reservation.

What an excellent experience we had here! The room was so clean! If we come here again, this is where we'll stay. A pleasant surprise!

When we checked in they had warm cookies, which I DEFINITELY did not pass up. Delish! There's a nice variety of channels to choose from when we want to wind down in the evening. They also have a nice indoor pool and hot tub, which I think we'll check out this evening. At breakfast there was a pretty good variety. I do wish I would have seen juice down there, but the attendant was very attentive to everything. This was my first time staying at an AmericInn, but they are definitely on my radar now.

Horrible customer service and ridiculous policy…read more In order for my 14 year old daughter and her friend to swim on a "day pass" that needed to be accompanied by someone over 18. Ok, fair enough. I was charged to be in the pool room, not swimming because their policy states an adult must be there. In the pool room, not in the lobby, which has a window to the pool. I was charged because they "fill to capacity and run out of chairs" there are literally 5 people in the whole room as I type this and not a single person sitting in a chair other than me. When I asked the front desk person about how I could get a hold of the manager to question the ridiculous policy I was told "no, it's the weekend and she will tell you the same thing". What a shit attitude. I understand capacity limits. How about not selling day passes if they are at capacity so you don't have to charge someone to sit and do nothing. I have reccomend AmericInn to out of town visitors in the past but will never again.

The Swiss hotel is very cute and located less than 2 blocks away from the downtown area where the fests were. The hotel is also dog-friendly, which was important during our stay. I'm giving 4-stars because the hotel needs a little upgrading and my husband didn't care for the breakfast he had. The scrambled eggs were watery and there wasn't any butter for the pancakes. Also to note, our room was neat and looked clean but we noticed the recycling hadn't been taken out and I'm certain the shower wasn't cleaned before we arrived because there was a white residue all over the shower handle. Overall, I would stay here again because of the location, it's dog-friendly, and I loved the Swiss charm.

The windows had cobwebs, the room was dark and dreary and looked like nothing had been updated probably since they opened. Not only all that but I brought my own pillow, forgot it at the hotel and when I called no one could find it. This was no regular pillow. It was a square pillow with a BIG blue circle in the middle of it especially made for neck issues. Anyone could have seen that this was no regular pillow. Where or where could it be???. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and if you do stay there, look out for thieves and bring cleaning supplies.

We live in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and didn't want to spend all our time on the road getting to our destination. It was July and most everything on the water was filled to capacity so we began looking into B & B's in WI. Green County came up in our search and Albany House was highly rated. We took a chance and were not disappointed. The home sits on about 2 acres, a very peaceful setting, many gardens and a lovely sense of tranquility. A large front porch with seating, a swing and plenty of mosquito abatement welcomes you! Our room was one of the bedrooms in the Eagle's nest at the top of the home. It was comfortably and thoughtfully appointed and decorated. All the conveniences were available and waiting. Breakfast was excellent, Margie is a wonderful chef and Ken made a wonderful server. We sampled some local cheese and had more than enough food to satisfy us until we were ready for a late afternoon meal. The guests were delightful, conversation flowed and we all lingered past 10 am just enjoying ourselves. Green County is a wonderful explore and Albany was a wonderful place base to travel from. We'd go back in a heartbeat, especially as the seasons change so we can see the area in all it's various splendor. And we'd especially go back to enjoy the hospitality of Margie and Ken and Albany House!

Green County provides a nice getaway, and Albany House is the perfect base for us. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and the third floor is a suite (two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a common area). Their website has pictures of everything so you can see the rooms before you make a reservation. Albany isn't a well-known destination, but if you want to relax, ride your bike on the Sugar River trail, sample lots of cheeses, visit the best brewery in Wisconsin (or any combination of those things), I would recommend checking out this B&B. The breakfasts are fantastic -- enough to get you through most of the day. And now they just opened a cottage (really a vintage bungalow on the Sugar River) across the street with two bedrooms and bathrooms plus a whirlpool tub (in a separate room with a fireplace) and its own kitchen, dining room and living room. It looks really nice (but we haven't stayed there yet).

My only recommendation would for them to improve shower heads . It shows signs of outdated. Towels I think needs to be replaced. They look too washed out (bleached out), too much. There are only ten rooms per floor so we thought it would be a quiet place. That evening, however, a large group of adults and children took over multiple rooms across the hall from us. From around 6:30 until around 11 there was constant conversations and children screaming while running from room to room and slamming doors. Thankfully it stopped around 11 pm and we were able to get to sleep. The peace was short lived, as they wound up again just after one am. The next morning, as we were leaving for the day, we stopped at the desk and asked for our room to be refreshed. The clerk said she would have it done. On our return to our room we found it in the same condition as when we left. I went down to the desk and asked when the housekeeper would be available and was told that they were gone for the day. I told her that we had requested that it be refreshed. She told me that if it hadn't been done it was probably because I had left the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. (It really bothers me when a staff member automatically blames me without any information.). She said that she would talk to the housekeeper and make sure it was done tomorrow. I told her that we were checking out in the morning and she merely shrugged. I asked for towels and went back upstairs. The two stars are for our initial impressions, though that's being generous.
