At the last minute my husband and I found ourselves with a free weekend so we decided to look for a…read moreplace to get away. We live in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and didn't want to spend all our time on the road getting to our destination. It was July and most everything on the water was filled to capacity so we began looking into B & B's in WI. Green County came up in our search and Albany House was highly rated. We took a chance and were not disappointed. The home sits on about 2 acres, a very peaceful setting, many gardens and a lovely sense of tranquility. A large front porch with seating, a swing and plenty of mosquito abatement welcomes you! Our room was one of the bedrooms in the Eagle's nest at the top of the home. It was comfortably and thoughtfully appointed and decorated. All the conveniences were available and waiting. Breakfast was excellent, Margie is a wonderful chef and Ken made a wonderful server. We sampled some local cheese and had more than enough food to satisfy us until we were ready for a late afternoon meal. The guests were delightful, conversation flowed and we all lingered past 10 am just enjoying ourselves. Green County is a wonderful explore and Albany was a wonderful place base to travel from. We'd go back in a heartbeat, especially as the seasons change so we can see the area in all it's various splendor. And we'd especially go back to enjoy the hospitality of Margie and Ken and Albany House!

I think we've been coming to Albany House for almost 10 years -- first to visit family in the area,…read moreand now we bring friends with us. Green County provides a nice getaway, and Albany House is the perfect base for us. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and the third floor is a suite (two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a common area). Their website has pictures of everything so you can see the rooms before you make a reservation. Albany isn't a well-known destination, but if you want to relax, ride your bike on the Sugar River trail, sample lots of cheeses, visit the best brewery in Wisconsin (or any combination of those things), I would recommend checking out this B&B. The breakfasts are fantastic -- enough to get you through most of the day. And now they just opened a cottage (really a vintage bungalow on the Sugar River) across the street with two bedrooms and bathrooms plus a whirlpool tub (in a separate room with a fireplace) and its own kitchen, dining room and living room. It looks really nice (but we haven't stayed there yet).

Came here for a Labor Day tubing trip down the river and decided to stay the night to enjoy the hiking the following day. This b&b tried its hardest on the breakfast despite the covid precautions with packaged snacks, fruit, assorted coffee and tea. The rooms are really unique, all very spacious with their own bathrooms. And the common space is super cool. Best part are the screened in porch and exterior wrap around porch with rocking chairs. I picked this place because it looks much like my grandmothers house from the 1800s and wow was it similar. Spoke with the owner for an hour about the character and all the special features. It was so cool to learn more and appreciate her passion. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the amazing breakfast she likes to cook and stay in another room to try it out. Please come support this b&b, you won't regret it!

I loved the attention to detail in the decorations and the amenities. There was a huge DVD collection, although we didn't have time to watch a movie, if we had it definitely would've been fun to look through them all and pick one out. There were cute little chocolates in our room and I loved the fully stocked kitchen that was open 24/7 because when we got back from the wedding we all needed a late night snack! The owners were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We stayed in the Somerset room and everyone was jealous. I think it's the best room! Very ornate and old fashioned looking. The house itself was built right after the civil war. I definitely recommend this place!

Cameo Rose is one of those B&B's just off the beaten track just outside of Madison, Wisconsin you should enjoy at least once in your life. With the Victorian Architecture, spot-on accommodations surrounded by 120 acres of rolling hills, and my wife's favorite Fireflies lighting up the early evening you'll ask yourself, "Is this Heaven? Nope, it's the Cameo Rose." Yes, I stole that line from the movie Field of Dreams, but it's still true. Over the past 30+ years, Dawn and Gary Bahr have created a magically delicious home that welcomes you from the moment you arrive. You can feel the stress leave your body as you drive up and meet Dawn. I say delicious because you'll be in the presence of a true culinary chef. Her talents and creativity in the kitchen are truly top-shelf. Just between you and me, Dawn doesn't know how good she is. From the tasty layers in her quiche to her handmade scones, her Eggs benedict, and desserts that can make a grown man cry. Every breakfast is created with the freshest ingredients that combine to become gifts for your pallet. My favorite part of the morning is her description of each ingredient of the meal and what detailed joy goes into each expression of her talents. On a personal note, Dawn knows I'm diabetic and changed my meals which became a diabetes-friendly experience. This just does not happen in most places, and I've traveled extensively. Each morning sitting on the large front porch drinking a coffee listening to the menagerie of birds singing their morning songs or at night with a glass of wine I realized these moments are the best and most wonderful ways to start and finish your days at the Cameo Rose. Thank you Dawn and Gary, Rick and Julie, Seattle PS: There are two beautiful cranes that wander the property. We named the Libby and Delbert. Please say hello for us.
