We estimated that we would have about 100 friends and family members attending to share their grief and celebrate Karen's life. The space was perfect. The food was excellent. The service was outstanding. Rena was so helpful and easy to work with. She even fixed my wife's favorite desert, which wasn't even on her extensive menu. Where to begin with Rena- we checked this place out for our celebration of life for my brother (18)…read morewho committed suicide. When we first met with the owner, things seemed really awesome $75/hour (clock starts when you start setting up) they provide tables, chairs, a screen, and clean up (not shabby) or so we thought. We paid for 7 hours - $525. One rule about this place is if you have your event here you cannot bring in food, you must get food from her. We thought, wow that would be great - set up, catering and clean up, what a neat place. After first meeting Rena stated that we needed to pick a menu from her items. It's regular general items - so at first we picked the celebration of life "usuals" (pulled pork, salad, fruit, cookies, ice, and some cheese trays) we estimated about 150-200 people. Rena first quoted me $1800 - $2,000, I've never planned anything like this so I thought - okay, sounds good. We agreed and I thought we were good. 2 days later, she called and left me a voicemail at 9:30pm stating I needed to call her back. Upon calling her, she said "I just cannot do this for $10/plate what you want is going to cost $3,500 -$3,800 + 5% tax and + 30% gratuity (she said 15 at first but when we did the math, it came out to be about 30), she also said that at that price, we would only get 150 plates and when the plates were gone, even if there was food left - that was the end of eating for our guests. I thought to myself, kind of strange to count plates and then throw away food (seemed wasteful). I'm not a caterer by any means so idk maybe this is how it works. I said I wanted a quote in writing to get a second opinion bc again, I know nothing really about this business. After some research, I learned that her rules of counting plates was something more for like a sit down dinner, not for sandwiches and finger foods. So I declined and we decided to cut way back and said - 150 people worth of cheese trays, sausage and cookies/bars + ice - she quoted us $750 which included the tax and gratuity..or so we thought. The event was super successful, we ended up having 450 people stop through (not everyone ate) and we noticed that we had run out of food pretty early but thought oh well, bc we were having a dinner at Vince's later. Rena took it upon herself to set out 2 regular bags of Tostitos and salsa later on. Extra food and charges were never discussed with us during the event. Fast forward 6 hours, I'm at Vince's with my family and I send a family member to the event center to pay Rena, upon arrival she told my family member that the total would be $1800. $1050 more than what she quoted us. My family member didn't question it bc she thought the event center fee was included and she wanted to do a nice gesture for our family considering the circumstances. Not until later, upon questioning everyone (mostly to thank them) I found out that the bill was now $1800!! Rena indicated that because we ended up having so many guests she had to (allegedly) prepare so much more food (cheese, sausage and cookie trays) and she claimed she provided drinks (which we did not ask for) even though we brought our own. These 'extra' items were never discussed with any of us, no one was ever told that it would be an almost double charge of the original quote, just because of foot traffic. When we questioned how it became so much, she sent an updated very non specific/detailed "invoice". When further questioned and reminded of our original contract and quote she proceeded to send (imo) a very rude email in response. We already paid her and we're too sad to argue with her. If I would've known she was going sneakily overcharge us I would've just passed on the "food" all together. It's really too bad because the center and space is really great and it did meet our needs but the lack of details, the egregious upcharge, and rena's general demeanor is truly disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place.

My wedding reception venue was only available in the evenings (as it's a working museum all day),…read morewhich means we had all of about 90 minutes to set the place up. And these 90 minutes were while the wedding party would be taking photos. What's a DIY bride to do? Call up some wedding planners to get an hourly service, of course! Very few Madison-area planners would consider an hourly service, but Zoë and Kay were stellar. The price was absolutely right and they were totally flexible with what I wanted and needed. When the day arrived and we realized that the centerpieces and placecards got left behind (my fault!), they were superstars in getting those elements put out at the last minute (when the items finally arrived). A few things at the venue went awry, but they were totally great in going with the flow, keeping me as zen-like as possible and disappeared when their contract time was done without any fuss. Whether you need a little bit of planning help or the whole shebang of planning, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Zoë K Events. They're absolutely superstars. My wedding day left me a bit stressed, but without these two I would have been a wobbly puddle of jell-o in a corner somewhere. These 2 ladies really helped to make my day special.

(Your yelp hours are 9 pm) Fine. A bit rude but whatever. I order a salad and chicken wings. I was told 20 minutes. 15 minutes later I get a phone call saying they are out of wings. I call back and they told me they will not be making my food at all as the cook does not want to cook anymore and they are closing up now. If I wanted to I could come back tomorrow and order. Wow. It's like a child was left in charge of your resteraunt. She apparently had no control over the cook...and it did not seem like it was a big deal to her. I waited 2 days to write this review as I did not wish to be emotional. But the lack of professionalism is shocking. I realize this is a small town and getting any kind of help let alone actual people that take the tiniest amount of pride in their work must be difficult. But Taco Bell is capable of serving food until close. You hired worse than Taco Bell.

The ability to outright ban "Y.M.C.A." and the "Chicken Dance" from the very beginning took a lot of weight off of our shoulders. Parking is all in the surrounding neighborhood so you will park blocks away. This county fair had all the fair stuff with animals, rides, food, beer tent attractions and amusement games but it was oddly different because people weren't doing anything but walking around. The carnies were standing in front of empty rides as well as games of chance. We went back after 9 pm thinking that it would liven up but no, still idle games/rides and kind of pathetic for a county fair, is it the economic times ?.
