I'll start off my saying Jared was amazing as our DJ for our wedding! After with chose a DJ service, Jared was right there with us the whole time in helping us with pricing, services they offer and of course provided some great suggestions on the playlist and an overall understanding of how the music portion of the evening would go. As the bride, I obviously wanted all moat of my songs to be played. Once the dancing began, I just remember having such a great time and dancing the night away. Song after song that played was something I wanted to hear so as you can imagine I was on cloud 9! As a former deejay myself, I think I'm in a unique position to provide accurate feedback regarding this company. In short, go with ANYONE EXCEPT A Personal Touch DJ. In addition to filling out the extensive online forms stating what music to play when throughout the reception my wife took the time to provide a timeline. We hired a photographer who was only available for 4 hours and wanted to ensure we got all our desired photos taken. We spoke with the deejay a week before our event to ensure complete understanding that we had to adhere to a strict timeline despite documenting that in the Word doc. He assured us "I am here to make sure everything runs smoothly so you can just relax and enjoy your day." These were precise words as that is most certainly the entertainment's job. Unfortunately, the reality of this company was anything but. Little Joe was our deejay. The wedding started 30 minutes late through no fault of his own but he was too clueless to add 30 minutes to the timeline to keep things on track. That should be simple math for someone who has supposedly been doing this job for 22 years. The first job the deejay had was to make sure the music was cued properly when my bride-to-be walked down the aisle. He failed to do as he promised looping the music and, as a result, my wife came in long after the music for which she was supposed to enter. After the ceremony, we took our pictures. The deejay was supposed to announce the bar was open, there was a photo booth, and to leave well wishes on our tree. He did none of these things so the vast majority of the guests stood around outside unsure where to go. He had next promised to play 2 specific songs roughly 10 minutes total before hitting play on a projector and starting a slideshow I had built. I'm not sure if he ever played the songs but I do know the slideshow did not begin for at least 40 minutes later as we were queued up for our grand march by the time he (or someone else) started it. We literally stood around for 25 minutes waiting to enter our reception because of this. The deejay's next job was to play slow selections from our music list throughout dinner and to announce each table in turn to get food. He failed at both of these tasks also, playing songs neither the bride nor groom had ever even heard before until I, the groom, had to walk up and tell him to play the proper music. Also, as a result of the extra 40 minutes behind we were as a result of his ineptitude, the food was cold. Thank goodness both the pastor and photographer were professionals as both stayed an extra hour beyond their allotted time to do their best to make our day special due to the deejay not doing his job. A bit later the photographer walked over and asked if we were doing a garter toss or bouquet toss as she had asked Little Joe and he had said "I'm not sure". I'm not sure how we could have made it any clearer as we had documented we were on their online forms, picked music for those events, given guidance on the timeline we provide, and mentioned it on our call with him the week before. I heard from a guest at the wedding today that he was also very disappointed as he had requested songs to be played and the deejay just blew him off. I tried to contact the manager, Matty, today about our concerns and he put the blame back on us for being 30 minutes late to start the wedding. He also said since the projector was not theirs, it didn't matter that Joe said he would hit play, they're not responsible. He became very rude anytime I put the blame back on the true responsible party...them. I'm sure there are other details I'm omitting at this point but I hope you get the point by now and see the pattern. These guys take in the cash but do not do their job. When I played weddings in my late teens and early 20s, I took ownership for my job and pride in a job well done. These people should be put out of business. There are far better options out there. Maybe I need to go back into the business myself. read more

My wife and I had such a great experience working with Joe (DJ) and Matty (co-owner). During the pre-planning process Matty was able to answer all our questions and was SO FAST to respond with a text/email/call anytime something was needed. Once we got closer to our wedding, DJ Joe did a fantastic job of working with us through the details. The wedding went perfectly and we had so many compliments on the music and MCing, and the dance floor got packed! Lil Joe DJ'd our wedding last night at Lake Lawn Resort and it was amazing! He was personable, didn't really need any direction from us, and kept the night going smoothly. I am not lying when I say that the dance floor was full all night long! The transitions were smooth, he never played a song for too long if people seemed over it, and it was just perfect. Working with A Personal Touch was great from the start. A beginning phone call with Matt, then a few months before your wedding you fill out a form with your "Must play" song list, your "play if possible" song list, and your "do not play" song list, along with the names of your wedding party and certain songs. Matty Collins was the best DJ we could of had for our wedding!! From the day we called him to setting up appointments to meeting with him to our wedding night, he was perfect! There website was set up perfectly so you can choose songs to play and not to play from the convenience of your home. We had him set up the back lighting in the reception ballroom which looked amazing! The songs we chose were played, he added some popular ones in there and made sure the ones we didnt want played were never played!! He customizes everything to the couples which I loved, we wanted him to get people involved and later at night make it a huge party with the lights off and the music loud. We're not quite sure what was more disappointing the DJ A Personal Touch DJ sent to host our wedding or the fact that when we asked to share our feedback the owner was either so overly confident or didn't care to hear what we had to share and literally told us to just publicly post our feedback as a review without even wanting to hear what we had to say. Prior to our contract we met with the owner and he did what seemed like an interview with us to get to know more about us. The energy we got from him was great and throughout talking with him and learning about their company and their process from start to finish sounded great. Part of the reason it took us so long was that we committed to filling our "must play" and "maybe" lists because we wanted full control of all the music that was played at our wedding and not have "filler songs". We even took the time in planning stages to get suggestions from our guests in order to not leave it open to requests the day of our wedding. It literally took us a few hours because we filled our entire wedding time allowed based on music run time for both lists. We outlined the whole evening using their format and felt confident that the company and DJ would review it and follow our wishes. It was a bit tedious but we felt good once it was done and were looking forward to our big day. However as the wedding approached, no one contacted us to go over our event. My wife had to contact the company to learn who our DJ was and then had to initiate contact with the assigned DJ. When talking with the assigned DJ about our day she learned that he did not take the time to read anything we filled out. So all of the hours we spent filling out their form was for nothing. More concerning was the important notes and wishes we had in regards to our music selection were never even noticed which impacted our wedding day in a negative way. On the big day of our wedding things felt good. DJ arrived on time to set up and be ready promptly. Right after the ceremony, which took place in the same hall as the reception, things became notably less than what we expected. Once the reception started our DJ had no momentum, no energy, barley spoke on the mic and when he did it was barely more then a few words. He truthfully didn't appear to want to be there. It was noticeable that he was at our event because he had to. It was a job for him and not a passion to entertain or provide quality entertainment. After the maid of honor and the best man gave their speech my wife's father and myself wanted to give a speech as well. Rather then asking if anyone else wanted to speak the DJ cut us off and started to announce the food and a toast. We had to go to him and intervene then awkwardly take the center of attention back and say we wanted to speak to our guests. During dinner the background music was fine. After dinner when our "must play" and "maybe" music was to be played was when we really felt like it we were taken! Our DJ did play all the music in our "must play" however it had no flow whatsoever. Our DJ simply did not blend music well and seemed to skip around between those genres a lot to find a flow that worked. Another and probably the second BIGGEST issue we had other then obviously noticing the lack or effort, energy and appearance to wanting to be there from our DJ, was the fact that my wife clearly gave him directions to NOT take requests. We had taken care of that weeks before through directly asking our guests and formulating a list. Had he FOLLOWED these instructions there would have been more music within those genres to mix and work with and not jumped around so much without landing a good flow. That is why we spent several hours on the second list. We knew we wanted our "maybe" lists as much as our "must play" list which is why we spent so much time on it and literally gave the DJ instructions to NOT take requests. Sadly that was not the case! After the music was over we went back and fourth really asking ourselves if we should tip gratuitously or hold back and really base it on results and per our satisfaction. Ultimately we felt bad and also didn't want to come off cheap so we tipped what the standard is. When our DJ was wrapping up he told us that the owner would be in touch with us with a survey of how it went, we were happy to hear this as we wanted to share our disappointment constructively. Several weeks went by and nothing. My wife emailed the owner to ask if he wanted to listen to our feedback and this is truly my reasoning for giving 2 stars and not 3 as our wedding DJ experience was not great or even good but also not entirely horrible either. The fact that the owner did NOT care to hear what we had to say or share with him was another disappointment. He literally told my wife (in an email reply) to just share our review of his company on wedding social media sites without even just asking to hear what we had to say! That's downright troubling! read more

We had our wedding reception on New Year's Eve at the Best Place and we used A Personal Touch DJ. The music selection was great, and we had people on the dance floor from beginning to end. The company has an easy-to-use portal and pre-questionnaire for planning, and both Matt and Jeff were easy to work with. Jeff, our DJ, was great with requests and did a midnight countdown for us on NYE. They were great about having all of the details ready, and suggested up-lighting that looked excellent in our space during our reception. I would recommend A personal touch DJ for any event! We had Matt as our DJ for our wedding in Oct (referred to us by a friend) and he was AWESOME! The dance floor was packed the entire night! We had numerous people compliment us on the DJ choice. He also did our up lighting for the room which was just what we wanted. It added a lot to the look of the ballroom since we did not go crazy with decorating and flowers. Could not have asked for a better DJ service for our wedding. We had a small wedding and there was some debate on whether or not we actually needed a DJ. In the end, we decided that we didn't want to handle the music ourselves, or have any family/friends have to deal with it. From the moment I reached out to A Personal Touch, I knew it was going to be the right decision. Our DJ was Aaron. I met with him prior to the wedding to review the music for the event. He provided music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception. He listened to what we liked and didn't like, reviewed the timing and venues and overall got a good idea of what we wanted in the reception. On the day of the wedding, everything went off perfectly. Even though we were a small crowd, he was able to get ALL of our guests out on the dance floor -and keep them out there for the entire evening - and played a great selection of music to appeal to everyone there.
