A fantastic experience! My husband and I had a wonderful time going to Pelletier's fish boil!…read moreGetting to see the process of the potatoes, onion, corn and Lake Michigan native fish go into the pot with a fun history was a unique and fun experience. Everyone enjoyed their time on the patio seeing the boil itself before going in to enjoy the outcome. My husband immediately said that it was the best fish he'd ever had, and was shocked that it needed no extra seasonings or sauces. The salt that was used and the cooking process itself brought out incredible flavors in the fish and sides. The owner takes so much pride in his work and is excellent interacting with his guests! There is a lot of indoor/outdoor seating but you should call to make a reservation and get your name on the list! You have to get there about 45 minutes early before "the show" to get your ticket, which is no issue. There is also an option to choose from over a dozen other entrees if you're not interested in seafood (I saw a vegetarian option too), as well as a kids menu. The non-alcoholic beverages are included in the ticket but there is an option to purchase local and big name beers as well. The cherry pie at the end is the chef's kiss! It was such a perfect addition to our trip, even people who brought toddlers had a fun time with their kids. We'll come back to this fish boil every time we visit Door County!

I should have opted for the smaller portion because the regular portion was more than I could consume! It was over a pound of fish! The master boiler has been doing this for over 40 years so it must be a great place to work! That says a lot for a business these days. Dining options are indoors or outdoors, and we opted for outdoors the bread was a little disappointing as it was just sliced bread and not rolls. It includes a soft drink, which is a nice touch and of course, the cherry pie. It would be nice if there was seasoning on the table is a little bland.

We stayed in the Landmark Resort- Egg Harbor, Wi - and while it has some charm, the overall…read moreexperience was more "meh" than memorable. The property is surrounded by woods, which gives it a peaceful, cabin in the north-woods kind of vibe. The lake views are really gorgeous but good luck getting one... By the time we checked in all those rooms were taken, so we ended up with a stunning view of a parking lot and some trees. Postcard material, if the postcard is from a rest stop! Walking into the room, the first thing that hit us was this strong, leftover food smell - like someone had just cooked something super spicy and the scent decided to stay for the weekend. It wasn't exactly the fresh, clean place we were hoping for. And to top it off the other side of the building had its own thing going on - its own kind of funky, musty odor that hung in the air. Not AWFUL, but noticeable. Not the kind of scent that says "welcome" more like "something weird went in the walls". The room did not do itself any favors either, there were dust, and dirt in random spots, and when we made the mistake of checking under the couch and cushions, we discovered a little time capsule of old food crumbs and debris. Cozy! It looked like the furniture had not been updated in a while - unless " 1990s cabin chic" is making a comeback. On the bright side, the shower actually worked pretty well - hot water, great pressure. Honestly that was probably the highlight of the room. Outside there is some tennis courts , and a basketball hoop. Which is a nice touch if you are into that kind of thing, ( or if you need to burn off frustration from your room situation.) Overall the Landmark has potential - the location is solid and the grounds are peaceful - but the rooms REALLY need more attention and care. If they put in the effort to clean better and refresh the interiors, this could be a great spot. Until then, maybe bring some freshener, and DO NOT look under the cushions, and keep your expectations in check!

We had an awful experience at the Landmark. We were going for the night with two adult couples and…read morehad booked a 2 bed/2 bath. When we got to the room it was 53 degrees!! We called and had maintenance come to the room. The two men said they were really old units and took forever to heat up. They even mentioned we could start the oven to try and warm it up. They also shared that the pool had been closed briefly because a kid pooped in it. Um, pretty sure it takes quite awhile to shock the water so it's safe for swimming again! Gross! We were still being easy going about it all and decided to leave the resort and let the room warm up. When we returned 3 hours later the room went up one degree!!! After calling and asking to switch to another room we waited and waited and eventually went to another freezing room. We were told that all the rooms would be like that and there was no guarentee they would warm up. So packed everything up and headed to the front desk where we were treated extremely rude! The woman refused to tell us her name, told us she would sleep in a 55 degree room and didn't see why we wouldn't. While simply talking to her she claimed we were yelling at her and swearing and even said she was going to call the police. Long story short we wasted a ton of time with the rudest woman. She finally refunded the room and offered not other compensation or apology. We then drove to another hotel where they could not have been nicer. They even gave us a discount because they felt so bad about our experience at the Landmark. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere other than here. They clearly do not care about their customers!! 0 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a queen size bed. There was also a small fireplace (gas) and a whirlpool tub. Cute patio , that faces the bay. The view is slightly obscured by trees and marsh grasses. The usual amenities. Mini fridge, one cup coffee pot and hair dryer. Unfortunately, we found the bed to be extremely uncomfortable. It was like laying on the floor. The pillows were down, but the kind that flattened and stay flat. The water in the shower is just gross. It left you feeling slimy. Never clean. My hair was a giant knot, no matter how much conditioner I used. Unfortunate. There is no microwave in the room. However , there is one by the coffee bar in the lobby. They also had a mini fridge with juices and flavored water. They did not offer water or ice anywhere. This was a huge inconvenience. We drink a lot of water and ice would have been nice. We did end up buying a case of water. As cute as the Blacksmith inn is, I would not go back. If you're not getting a good nights sleep it really affects your vacation. And not feeling clean after showering ick

We went to Door County for a birthday celebration and sadly this is the first negative review I…read morehave had to write. We arrived on Friday 9/12, and the check-in process went well, the room was nice, and everything seemed ok. We were told that the housekeeping service would come in daily and remake the beds, cleanup the room, remove and replace any used towels and empty the garbage and resupply any coffee and toiletries needed. This was true only the first day. The second day we were out for the day and came back late and noticed that nothing had been touched? We went to bed and figured they would come back the next day. Nope...nothing. We had to empty our trash and reuse the "towels, etc. I had to go to the office get my own coffee supplies, etc. The only response I got was "Sorry"...help yourself to what you need. No....what is your room number? so, we will make sure they service you tomorrow. Nope...didn't happen. The worst part was the extremely loud pipe banging noise that began off and on from 12:00 midnight to around 4 am the last night we were there. It was intermittent and lasted 30 minutes each time it happened. No sleep for us that night. We went to the office to report it and were told.....we have had that happen in the past...and the obligatory "Sorry".....Very dismissive and after I explained the lack of room service and the noise that kept us up the response was an amazing," Sorry but we hope you will come back" followed by a smile? Very disappointing.....customer service? I hope future potential visitors have a better experience than we did... not a good birthday weekend. . They seem to not to care about living up to what they promise they will do. We will definitely not be returning here!!!

Rating: 2.5 stars…read more My family came to stay here for 2 nights while we explored Door County. We went on Wednesday and left on a Friday. When we first arrived Wednesday afternoon, the lady at the front desk was kind of rude, standoffish and didn't really want to answer any of our questions. Walking through the hallway, everything looked very antiquated. When we got into our room I was disappointed to see that our over $350 a night room was pretty dilapidated, old and tiny. However, there was a small mini fridge and microwave available which was nice. There is free wifi available but can be fairly laggy. The resort itself is located right across the street from the water so you get a nice view of the water and you do get a small balcony to sit on with some patio furniture; however, there always seemed to be so many mosquitos there so I never did go outside. There is free breakfast available for guests. There were a few trays available for guests to bring their food up to their room. The selection was pretty simple but filling with some fruit, cereal and frozen jimmy jones breakfast sandwiches. There was a guy working in the breakfast room one morning that was kinda rude but apart from him and the lady at the front desk all of the other staff were quite friendly especially the housecleaning staff. All in all, a fairly average accommodation that wasn't too impressive; however, if you're not planning on staying in your room for too long while exploring Door County it may be adequate.
