You are about an 8 minute drive from the "hustle" that is Door County during the fall season which suited us perfectly.

I'm adding an update since it's been 4 years since my last review of this park, but please also see…read moremy 2 earlier reviews. They have completely rebuilt the fire tower adding an accessible ramp. While we are able to climb stairs, we enjoyed the ramp a great deal. I'm not a huge fan of open stairs and found this wide ramp that is intended for both wheelchair users and walkers to be a very pleasant way to reach the viewing platform and return to ground level. The view from the top is amazing on a clear day. We also walked part of the sunset bike trail as an out and back which was lovely. We started at the beach, headed toward the lighthouse and continued on to the bluffs/cliffs before turning around. It was about 6 miles round trip and had lots of wildflowers and beaches along the way. This is a great trail for anyone who doesn't want to navigate a lot of tree roots or rocks. Other updates: The lighthouse is being refurbished and is scheduled to reopen later in June 2026. There are now food trucks near the beach if you don't feel like bringing a picnic lunch!

To access the park, you have to pay a vehicle admission pass at the visitor center. Daily pass for out-of-state plates is $16. The rates are different for Wisconsin plates and senior citizens. 12-month pass is available as well. The small gift shop in the visitor center has magnets, stickers, paper weights, shirts, etc. There are also comfort rooms inside. It was raining when we visited. The rain stopped for a bit and we were able to see Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. We weren't able to go in the lighthouse because it was still early and not yet open. It was okay from the outside. We also went to see the Eagle Tower. Since it was raining and dark clouds were all over, we did not see the nice view that this spot is known for.

Come for the beautiful sunsets, Instagram-worthy selfies, fishing, and make your own dinner by the water, but don't forget to check out the gallery and paint your name on the building. Whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth, Anderson Dock and the Hardy Gallery are a classic Door County experience that never gets old.

Sadly, the markers/paint was not out for people to leave their graffiti due to COVID but we had a great time finding the markings we left 2 years prior (and we found one!!!). The outside of the gallery is much more interesting than the inside; you could spend a good chunk of time just looking at the messages and artwork on all 4 sides of this shed-like building. They must clean it up so people can paint over the bottom 6 feet, where most people can reach). We only were able to find our initials as my husband creatively wrote them up very, very high (I think at one point I may have been trying to hold him up, hahahaha). Outside and around the gallery is a fantastic location for photos and to sit and enjoy the sunshine and/or water. I have been there when the Lake was wave and the waves washed over the dock - so be careful when you visit if you do not want to get wet or cold! I would say the Hardy Gallery is a must-see, even if you only stop for a moment and especially if you are on the western side of Door County.

We had two different rooms with two queen beds each room and the beds were all the same. Each day took half a day for my back to recover. Also, the electrical outlets would not support my husband's CPAP in either room. Would not support proper iPhone charging either. Odd, like voltage under par (is that a thing?) Cell phone service dropped calls with most phone calls. On the plus side, everyone is friendly and individuals do try hard. Location is excellent for Door County activities. Rooms seem clean and the view is nice. The pool and whirlpool are great! And the upstairs restaurant is very nice. We enjoyed the restaurant's ribs, tuna and breakfasts. Owners most surely should invest in decent mattresses (really REALLY terrible). With their current mattresses we CANT be back.
