Our private balcony overlooking the surrounding vineyards

Wow. The Inn at the Pinnacles is the perfect place to stay near Pinnacles National Park. Gorgeous vineyard surroundings, charming and comfortable suites (with a private entrance and private balcony: great for social distancing), and well-stocked amenities. For dinner, you can bring food and grill (a fridge and private grill is provided) or go out to the restaurants in town which is what we did. We loved El Rinconcito - there's lots of delicious Mexican restaurants in the area. The owners Jan and Jon (the lovely owners who we got to meet while they hosted a wine tasting for guests) have done a fabulous job making the Inn at the Pinnacles the premier place to stay in the beautiful Pinnacles area. We appreciated the information we found in our suite about Pinnacles and the local wildlife, and we had absolutely everything we needed to make coffee and breakfast then head out hiking! Hiking at the Pinnacles was fantastic and we saw upwards of a dozen highly endangered California Condors and while at the park. We will recommend to Inn at the Pinnacles to all our local family and friends, and we're looking forward to returning with our families!

This is a staggeringly beautiful location, high in the hills with views across the Salinas Valley to the San Lucia coastal range. We had blue skies for 3 days. And 80F temperatures in mid November. Absence of wifi in the Manzanita room (too far from the main house) meant I had to read the superb information on the vineyards and a fascinating book on the condor history. TMI. Jon and Janet provided an outdoor wine tasting of the wines produced from their grapes. The condors are easy to see at the highest trails of the Pinnacles. This Inn was a terrific base to hike the park. 10 minutes away. Comfortable bed, wonderful deck to watch sunset, moonrise and have breakfast. The querk was a shower system rigged up above the spa tub. I worked it out by the second day  The kitchenette and deck grill were adequate to assemble our two dinners. Continental breakfast and coffee machine are provided. Really great stay on the much quieter west side on the park. A worthy 5 stars.

Sunset during Wine and Cheese with the hosts and other guests

Let me first start by saying this place is spectacular, the hosts are wonderful, the surroundings are breathtaking and you cannot help but have a great experience here. The Pinnacles are a very untapped spot in California with beautiful and unique vistas and landscapes. The location of the Inn is very remote, although not that far from HWY 101... which is part of the beauty of it. The Inn is hosted by the owners John and Jan Brosseau. This team has the perfect attributes for Inn Keepers; Jan with her great cooking and attention to every detail for the well equipped rooms and pleasurable stay and John with the years of sweat and tears that he has put into the property and vineyard along with the great tales of the area, his family and it's wineries and vineyards. You can tell they are very proud of the wonderful experience that each visitors has. The rooms are very comfortable and stuffed full of details (that show they think about anything you could need) and include the perfect whirlpool tub to use after some great hiking in the park and gas fireplace when the evening chill creeps in. Cooking is left up to you so be sure to bring something to grill and/or microwave. The Saturday evening Cheese and Wine featured their family's amazing wines, cheese and other appetizers and fun conversation and star gazing with our hosts and other great guests. Breakfast could possible be the best we have ever had at a B&B. Served in the spacious breakfast area in the main building with views all around. Again... the details of such things as the plate warmers show they do not spare any expense for the sake of our experience. We did not have enough time to enjoy all the features such as the beautiful pool deck so we will have to be back sometime soon.

New favorite. It is pricey no doubt but worth every penny. Like being in Cape Town.

Inn at the Pinnacles is lovely, serene, comfortable, and surrounded by stunning beauty. Innkeepers Jan and Jon are welcoming and terrific. We brought our kids and had the place to ourselves, which was unbelievably relaxing. We swam in the saltwater pool, enjoyed beautiful sunsets on the veranda, and lay out under the Milky Way three nights in a row for the Perseid meteor shower. The beds are comfy. The rooms are well stocked. The breakfasts are yummy. We day hiked in Pinnacles (stunning/magical), enjoyed a pool day, and made a day trip to Arroyo Seco campground to play in the river. Arroyo Seco is a 40 minute drive away, but the drive is scenic and the trip worth it, especially during hotter months. Of course, Pinnacles is just 5-10 minutes away. The Brosseau wine is also terrific, and the organic vineyard surrounding the inn is gorgeous. On our way out of town, we also saw a flock (a "tiding") of blue magpies. Magical from beginning to end.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect on our first visit and all expectations were exceeded. Jan and Jon were fantastic hosts and even better company. They go out of their way to ensure their guests enjoyed the stay. A quick trip up the road gets you into the park and after a long day of hiking we were thrilled we didn't have to go far to get a nice shower or dip in the pool. The two rooms with balconies overlooking the vineyards are worth the extra $$.

I eventually found Motel Budget Inn, a one story, rambling old-school style motel. But after talking with Keyur at the front desk I was convinced to stay here (also there's not a lot of competition). He was warm and inviting and explained to me that most of their business came from weekly rentals, this makes sense as the Salinas Valley employs a lot of temporary labour. He told me that the owners had created two special nightly rooms on the opposite side of the parking lot and all the other rooms. I checked one of the nightly rooms and it was wonderful. A large room with a solid hardwood floor and lots of extras (mini fridge, microwave, etc). the bed was comfy with some sort of memory foam overlay on it and the water pressure was just fine. The whole place was spotless. My only complaint is the soundproofing. The two nightly rooms are side by side and the wall that separates them is paper thin. I could hear the actual conversations of the people next door as well as the TV. Luckily my neighbours weren't too loud/up too late and I was quite tired so it didn't take long for me to be dreaming of giant heads of lettuce (apparently that's what you dream of in the Salinas Valley). I can't recommend the town of Greenfield, but if you do have to stop for the night, you won't do much better on a budget than Motel Budget Inn. Keyur helped me make the best of an unexpected stop and for that I say, Thank you.

The location of the cabin is right off the creek of their property. Also It had rained the day before, so a small waterfall was flowing directly across from our place. That evening we sat by the fire, roasting marshmallows and sipping champagne while listening to the water and looking up at the redwood trees. It was just so magical. One detail I especially loved was the heated bathroom floors--such a cozy surprise and something I'm definitely not used to! The entire cabin was spotless and beautifully maintained. I'm very particular about cleanliness in hotels so I brought my mattress vacuum cleaner to inspect--the bed and pillows were not dusty, which gave me a peace of mind. Overall, our stay was perfectly the way I want to remember this trip. If I had stayed somewhere else, I don't think I would have had a great of an experience in Big Sur. Ambience and the aesthetics of the property grounds is important to me and it checked off all the boxes. April turned out to be the perfect time to visit: sunny, peaceful, and more affordable than peak season. I loved everything about this stay and we're already planning to come back. Recommendations: the pillows are goose down so it doesn't work for neck support. Bring a pillow you like from home if you have neck issues. Also, in Little Sur, your bed is underneath a window. Turn the blinds upwards so you don't wake up to the light in your eyes:)

I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. We hiked much of the grounds and every turn delivered something new. The kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Then the restaurant. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION -- IT MAY SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS…read more If you are considering booking an ocean-view room at Post Ranch Inn between May, June, July, or August, I strongly encourage you to do extensive research about Big Sur's seasonal coastal fog before spending your money. Based on our experience, I would never book an ocean-view room during these months again. We paid nearly $10,000 for two nights in one of the resort's premium ocean-view accommodations because the breathtaking ocean views shown throughout their website were the main reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, during our entire stay, the ocean view was completely hidden by dense fog. We never saw the spectacular view that was advertised and pictured online. What disappointed us most was the lack of transparency. The website showcases beautiful, clear ocean views but does not adequately prepare guests for the possibility that the view may be completely obstructed for an entire stay during certain times of the year. If guests are paying thousands of dollars specifically for an ocean-view room, they deserve clear information about the seasonal risk of persistent coastal fog so they can make an informed decision. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly asked staff whether the fog would clear. We were consistently told that it would likely clear within a few hours. Unfortunately, that never happened. The fog remained throughout our stay, and we never got to enjoy the ocean view we paid a premium for. What made this even more frustrating was that, after repeatedly being told by multiple staff members that the fog would clear soon, one employee later told us that they were not supposed to tell guests that the weather was expected to remain the same for several days and that these foggy conditions are common during this time of year. According to that employee, this type of weather often persists throughout much of the summer season. I cannot independently verify that statement, but if that information was accurate, it raises serious concerns about transparency. Guests spending thousands of dollars for an ocean-view room deserve honest information about the likelihood of actually seeing the ocean during their stay. The room itself also had maintenance issues. The bar sink was clogged, and the shower valve/faucet was loose and repeatedly fell while being used. We reported both problems, but neither was repaired during our stay. Staff apologized, but no one came to address the issues. For a property charging close to $5,000 per night, I expected much better communication, transparency, maintenance, and overall value. I fully understand that the weather is beyond the hotel's control. However, what is within their control is how honestly they communicate the risk of seasonal fog to potential guests. Had we known there was a realistic possibility of spending our entire stay looking at a wall of fog instead of the Pacific Ocean, we would have chosen different travel dates, a different room category, or a different destination altogether. The property itself is beautiful, but based on our experience, the value did not come close to justifying the cost. If an ocean view is important to you, think very carefully before booking an ocean-view room during the late spring and summer months.

Our rooms, the Kuschel Suite and the Captains Quarters, were upstairs and offered a cozy place to lay your head down at night. My room, the Captains Quarters, was themed very much as you might think -sailor-esque -  with a queen sized bed and a small half bath within the room. My friends room, the Kuschel Suite, featured a spacious full bath with a lovely claw foot tub with a great water pressure rain shower. Since I didn't have a shower in my room, the Kuschel Suite and the Captains Quarters shared the use of the shower/tub. One of my favorite parts of our stay was their sweet dog, SUGAR BEAR!
