Never have I had the opportunity to glamp before, but Treebones hits a bullseye for the perfect experience. From the moment we parked, we were treated with the friendliest staff you can ask for. The views from the lobby overlooked the coast with a pizza oven on the outdoor bar and a wall of local wine. It was breathtaking. Not only was it a base camp to one of the most beautiful ecosystems in the world, it hosted the most elegant 18-course omakase enhanced by a sunset on an endless horizon of the pacific. This special place will be apart of my travels for the rest of my days.

Where do I start? The food? The organic garden? The views? The wildlife? If you're looking for a place to have a huge party, fly a drone around, play obnoxious music, get drunk and/or act like a toddler, and bring your kids along, this is NOT the place for you. Go up the road to plaskett or Kirk and have your fun there. This is an older teen/ adults only, basically couples retreat for people to relax. You are thoroughly vetted before being confirmed for registration and the people who work here/own treebones are incredibly kind and go out of their way in accommodating people, HOWEVER if you want to come here and start problems no one will tolerate bad behavior, especially the other guests. I could go on and on about what a great time I had a treebones. Good vegan options. Had a pizza and a salad and a sardineless toast for the three course meal plus dessert. Better than all of the meals I've had in L.A. Im not kidding. Worth the price. Breakfast was yummy chia seed pudding and granola which was included free for registered guests. I'm glad they sell sleeping bags because I wasn't expecting it to be so cold and windy at night. Bring warm gear, even in summer. You are on the coast. I know it's an operation in the middle of literally nowhere so I commend them on the set up they have. That being said, I find the yurts a tad over priced but that's a personal opinion. Tent camping is key for me. So many amenities and flushing toilets/hot shower for only $130/night. Super! What a gem! (Check the website for multiple accommodation offers. Also, the prices can vary slightly depending on peak season, call for info.) I have tons of photos and am limited to 20 here. If anyone needs additional information let me know. We saw whales, and could hear seals all night. The local bobcat meowed by my tent the first night here. There is also an unnecessarily large spider around the lodge living its best life at night. This place is unbelievably beautiful, immaculately clean, and you are one with wildlife. No bears here. no raccoons that I saw even though there's a note in the campsite to keep food secure. I kept my food in a big plastic tote box with a heavy object on top all night with no problem. You don't really need to bring food though. Treebones has delicious options. I didn't try the sushi but lots of guests said it was the best sushi they've ever had (most of them from L.A. and that's really saying something since us angelenos really love our sushi....) It's a lot of courses of raw fish. GF. No vegan or vegetarian option for sushi. Notes: if you're coming from Los Angeles, the 154 has a major construction project going and is doing alternating one way traffic. delays are immense. Stay on the 101. Nearest electric car charging is only available in Gorda about ten minutes south. I saw a few teslas around Treebones. So plan well. I strongly recommend getting gas in Morro Bay before heading into the canyons if you're coming up from the South. Also, Apple Maps allows you to download offline maps. Do not enter the 1 past morro bay without this or a paper map. There is no cell phone service for miles. Be on the lookout in San Simeon for Elk, zebra (check out Hearst Castle for why zebra), cows, whales, seals and more. I recommend a trip to Piedras Blancas and the many beaches in Big Sur. Places I wouldn't recommend: Ragged Point. Expired food items in an old convenience store and nothing else to do. Tourist trap. Sad looking faces everywhere. It's too bad. Time didn't do this place well. Be mindful that treebones is off the 1, so you can hear traffic at all times *however* due to the road closure further north there's not much traffic and it is very peaceful. There is one ADA accessible yurt by the main lodge but the rest of the grounds are mostly dirt road with protruding rock. Ask about ADA accommodations. Please give treebones a try, but don't take all the campsite reservations because I'm coming back in April for whale season. LOL.

It is hard to put into pictures and words how peaceful and quietly beautiful this place is, but in just a few days it turned into one of my favorite places in the world. From the minute we parked to the minute we left we had a wonderful experience and truly did not want to leave. From hearing the ocean and the seals from our room, to the very photogenic sunsets and sunrises, to the unspoken agreement among guests to keep the environment quiet and tranquil I can't think of a better place to find peace. We stayed in the Cove tiny house which was decked out with everything we could want. We had our own coffee machine, a fridge stocked with milk for the coffee, a very clean bathroom with a Dyson hairdryer, an outdoor soaking tub, fire pit, outdoor table and chairs, a very comfy bed, heater, even a towel warmer and our own WIFI. Even without these things though, the view and the sounds of the ocean would have been worth the stay here. We had dinner at both onsite restaurants while there and were so happy we did. The chefs are so talented and we were served some of the freshest seafood we had ever tasted at both wild coast and the lodge. Every single thing we ate was noteworthy. Both restaurants were cozy and comfortable and the service and wine were perfect. The fireplace in the lodge was the icing on the cake for breakfast and dinner. The owners of Treebones obviously invest in doing things right from the creature comforts in the rooms, to the talented and friendly employees and it pays off. The location is incredible but the experience as a whole is even better and I cannot wait to go back.

Our stay at Treebones was easily the highlight of our Big Sur/Monterey Trip! First time ever staying here, and in a Yurt for that matter, and it will defintely will not be the last. Stunning ocean, sunset and sunrise views to just relax and take in, as well as beautiful grounds to just walk around and explore. The weather can shift quite quickly, so you'll want to be prepared for some cooler weather, especially when the fog rolls in. The thick fog banks just add some mystery and additional welcome atmosphere to the stay. The Yurt was spacious and very comfortable and there was also a heater for the cooler nights. Our Yurt was located right by the pool and the main lodge which was super convenient for any nighttime bathroom trips. Speaking of the bathrooms and shower area, these were always very clean and well maintained. The Lodge was an awesome place to hang out and meet the other guests during breakfast (free with stay) and enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee as well as simple but enjoyable breakfast fare. HIGHLY recommend making reservations and staying for dinner!! The food was absolutely amazing and any foodie would also appreciate the menu being offered. One might not expect such gourmet meals in this type of location, however, it was so good we ate there every evening...fantastic wine selection too!! Located to multiple hiking trails that are just a short drive away and the sunsets will just make you keep wanting to come back. Truly a magnigicant experience and the staff are also amazing and make you feel very welcome.

I can only speak from my experience with the restaurant. I stopped by while camping at Plasket Creek campground just for dinner, the sign on the street stated the times for lunch and dinner service. I was a little surprised at first that the dinner offered was a four course meal. I figured I would go for it at $98 for myself, the server told me I wouldn't be disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing and I couldn't have been happier with my experience! Not only was the food and service great, the seating, ambiance and views were to die for! Can't wait for my next visit to the area!

The most luxurious yurt you'll ever sleep in. The lodge is gorgeous and the food is exceptional. The staff next level. I could spend the entire day on the campus entertained by the pool, yoga, food and fellow visitors. Tons of beautiful trails off the highway and 45 min from Cambria. I yearn for my next Treebones visit!

Lunch bento box. Pre-order by 9pm for next day pick up at 1pm. Feeds 2 hungry ppl for sure.

I've stayed at Treebones twice now (just this past week for several days with my wife and solo last month). Both times I fully appreciated the great and friendly service, the curated offerings in the store (food/drink), and the high high high level of quality in both restaurants on site. I brought my wife this past weekend for an early anniversary trip because I wanted her to enjoy the experience, the food, the ambiance and- of course- the views. We dined at each on-site restaurant each night and We were NOT disappointed! The sushi we had at Wild Coast in particular is probably the best I've ever had (sorry Japan-I loved your sushi too, buuuut..) Thank you Treebone team !

Nothing short of amazing! Treebones staff sure know how to make one feel welcome from our arrival to our departure. It was great time to relax, great eats and the views!!!

TLDR: Best place to disconnect and recover! Treebones is a resort tucked away just far enough away from the hustle of the bay area and close enough to drive down without any hassle. The lack of mobile network and limited Wi-Fi availability forces one to disconnect and enjoy the experience they offer. One of the most beautiful sunset I have ever experienced. Their rustic glamping experience is an complete offering with the tents having all the amenities of an modern hotel including couch and coffee tables. They have a small hot tub and a heated pool with yoga classes being offered on certain mornings. Appreciate the staff and all their contributions to maintain the offering! Highly recommended!

Perfect for a very expensive weekend off the grid- it is California prices you pay for but oh man it's worth it. The service there is so great everyone was friendly and it is clean and worth it. There are bathrooms located by the front office which is also the only place for wifi. You can walk the whole property and there is the garden to see. The restaurant is good for dinner and they serve breakfast which was very good. They have a little store in the front office for wine, goodies and other stuff also. I stayed in yurt 14 and they tell you it can be loud from the pool area but it was perfect and no one disturbed us plus we got the front parking spot so no complaints here from check in to check out!

The rusticity of camping meets gourmet cuisine and elegance. This eco resort was amazing. I did not want to leave. The views were phenomenal. The food was delectable. The atmosphere is serene. The staff is accommodating and pleasant. I would live here if I could!

Bucket list item, check. I finally pulled the trigger and booked a stay at Treebones Resort. It was a long time coming and so very well worth the wait...and price tag. Treebones Resort is an incredible eco friendly glamping destination in Big Sur, California. The resort is home to some very unique accommodations: several yurts with ocean views, a treehouse, an autonomous tent, a twig hut, and a human nest. Some camping spots are also available on the property. I was lucky enough to book the Treehouse for two evenings (Friday and Saturday; note there is a two night minimum). We arrived later in the evening on Friday and was greeted by Dan who helped us check in. He told us all about parking, breakfast, showers, yoga, pool hours, etc. We parked and hopped on a golf cart driven by Corey who took us and our luggage to our magically cozy accommodation. Corey was so nice and told us all about the resort, including many different plants we passed by on the way. Upon making it to the Treehouse, we were floored. It is so amazing and to think it was actually built by Peter Nelson. Amazing! The other unique wood structures (twig hut and human nest) were built by Jayson Fan. The treehouse has the best swinging bridge that must be crossed in order to enter the house, complete with queen bed, propane fireplace (heater), sink with running water, table with chairs, etc. There is even electricity!!! After several photos of our humble abode, we returned to the lodge to have some wine and enjoy Wood-Fire Fridays. Most days the lodge has a prix-fixe three course menu, albeit Friday is not one of those days. I will leave a separate review for the food - I was able to dine at The Lodge Restaurant for dinner as well as Wild Coast Sushi for the Omakase experience (OMG, drool). Although, I will speak to the breakfast as that is complimentary for overnight guests. Let's just say breakfast was not my favorite and could really be improved as soon as possible. I hope to someday return to stay in a yurt. Until then, I will remember my time at Treebones Resort fondly - from the treehouse to dinner to coffee/tea, phenomenal views, tranquility throughout, yoga, and even the lovely garden and bunnies abound. Very thankful I was able to finally experience Treebones Resort - a family owned, five star, environmentally friendly, premiere glamping destination.

Beautiful views and very peaceful! Yurt was nice and very comfy and the staff was really friendly and helpful greeting us with a complimentary glass of wine. Highly recommend the 4 course dinner at the lodge - perfect way to wind down before sunset.

Ask the Community - Treebones Resort

My husband and I will be staying in the Twig Hut in May. Is there a BBQ at the hut for guest use? How far is it from restroom facilities? Also, what type of weather is typical in May? I'm SO excited!!

I didn't see a bbq grill. Fires are not permitted. May is a nice time of year. The chance of rain is low. Restrooms and showers are less than a five minute walk. They are close to the check-in/restaurant/pool area.

I read somewhere children under 7yrs old are not allowed is that true? What are the age restrictions?

New policy is no one under 13 is allowed

    Are children allowed?

Yes, some yurts are equipped for families.

Can someone post a photo of the granola?

Yes it's true children are asked to be over the age of 7 . This is because the yurts are not soundproof , younger children , toddlers and babies can't possibly maintain the type of quiet and serenity the resort in known for.

    Is the resort let friendly?

I'm assuming you mean "pet", and no, pets are no allowed.

I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. We hiked much of the grounds and every turn delivered something new. The kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Then the restaurant. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE MAKING A RESERVATION -- IT MAY SAVE YOU THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS…read more If you are considering booking an ocean-view room at Post Ranch Inn between May, June, July, or August, I strongly encourage you to do extensive research about Big Sur's seasonal coastal fog before spending your money. Based on our experience, I would never book an ocean-view room during these months again. We paid nearly $10,000 for two nights in one of the resort's premium ocean-view accommodations because the breathtaking ocean views shown throughout their website were the main reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, during our entire stay, the ocean view was completely hidden by dense fog. We never saw the spectacular view that was advertised and pictured online. What disappointed us most was the lack of transparency. The website showcases beautiful, clear ocean views but does not adequately prepare guests for the possibility that the view may be completely obstructed for an entire stay during certain times of the year. If guests are paying thousands of dollars specifically for an ocean-view room, they deserve clear information about the seasonal risk of persistent coastal fog so they can make an informed decision. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly asked staff whether the fog would clear. We were consistently told that it would likely clear within a few hours. Unfortunately, that never happened. The fog remained throughout our stay, and we never got to enjoy the ocean view we paid a premium for. What made this even more frustrating was that, after repeatedly being told by multiple staff members that the fog would clear soon, one employee later told us that they were not supposed to tell guests that the weather was expected to remain the same for several days and that these foggy conditions are common during this time of year. According to that employee, this type of weather often persists throughout much of the summer season. I cannot independently verify that statement, but if that information was accurate, it raises serious concerns about transparency. Guests spending thousands of dollars for an ocean-view room deserve honest information about the likelihood of actually seeing the ocean during their stay. The room itself also had maintenance issues. The bar sink was clogged, and the shower valve/faucet was loose and repeatedly fell while being used. We reported both problems, but neither was repaired during our stay. Staff apologized, but no one came to address the issues. For a property charging close to $5,000 per night, I expected much better communication, transparency, maintenance, and overall value. I fully understand that the weather is beyond the hotel's control. However, what is within their control is how honestly they communicate the risk of seasonal fog to potential guests. Had we known there was a realistic possibility of spending our entire stay looking at a wall of fog instead of the Pacific Ocean, we would have chosen different travel dates, a different room category, or a different destination altogether. The property itself is beautiful, but based on our experience, the value did not come close to justifying the cost. If an ocean view is important to you, think very carefully before booking an ocean-view room during the late spring and summer months.

The vision behind this place is truly inspiring and heartwarming. Built from the ground up around sustainability, human energy, and the balance between light and dark: allegretto, as a name, captures it perfectly. There are structures and masterpieces from six continents woven throughout the grounds, and as you walk through, you feel transported: one moment you're in Europe, the next in India, the next rooted right here in the American West. Astrology, art, intention, and the practice of living in the present moment are threaded through every corner. The wine selection has something for every palate. The tasting room mostly outdoors and so relaxing + beautiful, and the club membership is def worth it! What truly sold me were my wine tour hosts, Rosemary and Ryan. From the moment I walked in, they were warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about this place. The spa was great too! Jackie and Denise were warm and I got an amazing facial. Started the morning with yoga in the chapel, which was serene and restorative in the best possible way. The restaurant, Cello, is also excellent. Renee and Devyn were kind & welcoming. Lisa and Ava at the front desk were gracious and warm every time I crossed their path. Also found the most thoughtful, reasonably priced gifts for my family at the wine tasting room: a rare bonus. Heard they're building a second pool that will include both a family pool and an adults-only pool too. A few small notes I'm sharing in the spirit of the brand itself: not as complaints, but as easy wins for mgmt. For a resort so deeply rooted in sustainability, plastic cups at the water stations felt out of place. Switching to paper would be a simple change with a meaningful impact. Similarly, the mats in the chapel were the Amazon brand, which didn't feel aligned with the intentionality of everything else here. And one logistical thing worth noting: a portion of the grounds was blocked off for a wedding the morning after I checked in (pic included) Had planned to wander early and would have really appreciated a heads up at booking so I could plan accordingly. None of this changes my overall experience or my enthusiasm for this place. Allegretto is one of those rare destinations that if the above aligns with what you enjoy, you will be transported. Highest possible recommendation.

As a hotel, it's massive, with huge grounds, all spa services, wine tasting, sitting rooms, courtyard with fire pits, pool etc. And it is immaculately clean throughout. And every staff person we encountered was professional, friendly and competent. Our room was very cozy, with king size bed, comfortable appointments, and nice bathroom with huge shower. We sat by the campfire and made smores, bought an inflatable donut at the store near the lobby, crossed a bridge, floated along the lazy river, and walked the beautiful lush grounds under the towering redwood trees. If I had stayed longer I would've put one of those yoga mats to good use. Cabins are clean, stocked, and cozy. I highly recommend staying a few nights in this peaceful place.

The location of the cabin is right off the creek of their property. Also It had rained the day before, so a small waterfall was flowing directly across from our place. That evening we sat by the fire, roasting marshmallows and sipping champagne while listening to the water and looking up at the redwood trees. It was just so magical. One detail I especially loved was the heated bathroom floors--such a cozy surprise and something I'm definitely not used to! The entire cabin was spotless and beautifully maintained. I'm very particular about cleanliness in hotels so I brought my mattress vacuum cleaner to inspect--the bed and pillows were not dusty, which gave me a peace of mind. Overall, our stay was perfectly the way I want to remember this trip. If I had stayed somewhere else, I don't think I would have had a great of an experience in Big Sur. Ambience and the aesthetics of the property grounds is important to me and it checked off all the boxes. April turned out to be the perfect time to visit: sunny, peaceful, and more affordable than peak season. I loved everything about this stay and we're already planning to come back. Recommendations: the pillows are goose down so it doesn't work for neck support. Bring a pillow you like from home if you have neck issues. Also, in Little Sur, your bed is underneath a window. Turn the blinds upwards so you don't wake up to the light in your eyes:)

I spent three nights here with my husband and our small dog and we had an absolutely lovely time…read more We were greeted warmly and taken to the lobby via cart where we were checked in very privately and all of the amenities were explained to us. Our room was well appointed with a comfy bed and fireplace as well as a place for us to work. The bathroom was nice with a large tub for soaking and we had a private hot tub on our deck that we made very good use of. All of the food, whether it was room service or happy hour plates or meals at the restaurants (with the single exception of the Big Sur Smokehouse which was terrible and I do not recommend) was very good. As a matter of fact, I would say that the culinary experiences here were some of our best experiences overall, and that is saying a lot considering the level of customer service you receive at this establishment. We also hiked the trails with our small dog but unfortunately as much as they advise this is a dog friendly place, dogs are not allowed in the pool or soaking areas and you cannot leave them in the room, so by bringing our dog we did miss out on use of the pools and some of the other amenities. We were able to dine at the dog friendly restaurants though and again the food was delicious. Overall, this was definitely a five-star stay from the amazing service and accommodations to the delicious food to the ability to appreciate being surrounded by nature. We spent a lot of time relaxing in in our hammock or our hot tub, as well as snuggling in front of the fireplace. enjoying each other's company. This is the perfect location if you are looking to relax and unwind and was very romantic for us. We are planning another stay here soon and I am very much looking forward to it.

There was a Nespresso coffee machine and hot water pot for tea. The room was maintained well. Turndown service replaced used towels and included pillow gifts. The towels were soft and absorbent. The bed was comfortable. The fireplace included bags with wood for easy starting. It was quiet and the scent was soothing. We took the foragers cocktail activity. Karen was very energetic and cute. We started muddling strawberries then mixed them with bitters and shook up a cocktail. We then took our drinks into the garden and Karen told us which plants were what. After we collected some herbs we went back and made our own bitters. They suggested some combinations. We chose nettles, orange peel and vanilla bean. We both had deep tissue massages. They were done in a cabana overlooking the hills. It was peaceful and relaxing. We ate our dinners and breakfasts at the restruant Sur.
