One of the managers, Stephen, stopped by our table and welcomed us with complimentary glasses of Prosecco for the birthday celebration, which was such a thoughtful touch. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. We started with the Pasta Fritta con Prosciutto--crispy, rosemary-scented pasta dough wrapped in prosciutto with mascarpone espuma, honey, and Parmigiano Reggiano. It was the perfect balance of savory and sweet. We also shared the Caesar Nero, made with little gem lettuce, black garlic, and Parmigiano crostini, which was fresh and flavorful. For cocktails, we both ordered the Porch Punch. Made with Redwood Empire Pipe Dream 101, yellow peach, oolong tea, lemon, vanilla, and clarified using the milk punch process, it tasted like a refreshing peach tea. The etched ice cubes with wine glasses and utensils were a small detail that made the presentation even more memorable. For our entrées, Face ordered the Salmon Risotto, while I had the Carbonara. The carbonara is topped with an activated charcoal Parmesan tuile, and while it looks dramatic, it doesn't change the flavor at all--it simply adds a beautiful presentation. The pasta was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Bottega didn't just serve us an incredible meal--they rescued what could have been a very disappointing birthday dinner.
