Monica was super nice. My husband and I were on our way out of town and we wanted a place to go get bottles that you can't get anywhere else. We were told to come to 750 Wine by a local. We were not expecting what we walked in to. This is a special place to come to taste the local wines that are not the big vineyards in the area. 750 Wine is beautiful. It has amazing local art and a huge wall display of some of the wines they sell. We wet not aware that this was a wine tasting kind of place. Monica was great and very accommodating. She was expecting a group coming in for a tasting and she was more than happy to pour 5 glasses for each of us. Monica really listened to what you like so that she can help you find what you like. 750 Wines is a fun, modern and amazing experience in St. Helena. Owners David and Monica Stevens put a fun twist on the run of the mill wine tasting experience. With dozens if not a hundred different winemakers products on their shelf, there is definitely something for everyone. Call ahead and schedule your appointment with them and they will ask you some questions to put the right kind of vino infront of you when you arrive. David and Monica are made for this. They have hand-selected some of the best wine from around the region. Their facility is extremely fun too. Clean, modern and funky, and they sure know how to show their customers a good time. This is a great way to switch things up in your day of wine tasting in the valley. With many great restaurants in the area such as Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, Cook, AKA Bistro and Gott's Roadside Gourmet, you can grab a great lunch before or after your visit to 750 Wines. An absolute must for anyone visiting wine country. David and Monica will introduce you to hard to find gems. The tasting experience is unlike any other. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing and the wines are a revelation. Have been there 5-6 times and each time has been great. Thought I would point out, since some people are surprised that they do not just pour half a dozen $100+ wines for free and then you walk out with one bottle of Chard, that this is not a store for everybody. It is geared towards real "wine geeks" who are looking for hard to find, high-end wines. Those who are not afraid to spend $40-$100+ per bottle and want to try and collect wines that you cannot find much outside of Napa. Tastings are private, and by appointment only. No one walks in on your tasting asking if they can get help buying a White Zin. This is not a wine "tasting room" where you can pay $20, sip some wines and then hop in your car to hit the next winery, all the while getting sloshed. This is for "collectors" not looky-loos or those hoping to replicate the movie "The Hangover." If you want that, go to the Amarosa castle. But if you want an experience you can't get in other wine shops (or even other tasting rooms) and you want to start building a collection, go to 750. read more

We met Monica and David at least seven years ago. They have an amazing palate and are able to match what you like with the perfect wine. We have been introduced to numerous small wineries through them and what they offer from their collection is always carefully chosen and spot on. We feel lucky to have been introduced to them and always have a wonderful Napa experience with their help. 750 is a cool wine shop in a semi hidden location with lovely owners. It's like hanging out in the modern loft apartment that I always wanted and that just happens to be extremely well stocked! Monica and David selected some great bottles for my friends and I to taste and introduced us to some producers that we were unfamiliar with. They have a range of wines for all tastes and the prices go from 20's per bottle to serious collectors items. Maybe it was their sparkling repartee or maybe it was the haze of the four previous tastings but I left there with a warm feeling and a tasty bottle of bubbly in hand! All joking aside, make an appointment on your next wine country trip and you are in for a very nice time and some great wines. read more

A wonderful, private appointment only experience leaves you marveling at their expertise and connections. Like having your own private wine sommeliers and buying counselors on call 24/7. They are accommodating to a fault and never mind spending as much time as it takes to lead you to wineries you may have never heard of or, at least, would never be able to visit on your own. My daughter and I visited 750 for a private tasting. It was lovely; such a wonderful space in the middle of a crowded area of Napa. It was a beautifully decorated, high-ceiling room and we sat at a massive table for our five pours. The wines were very nice and I bought a few and had them shipped. The entrance is off the beaten path and a sign welcomed us to "Private tasting. Welcome Barb and Kristen." It was lovely and I only wish I'd bought a few more bottles. Simply outstanding. We had 11 guys with varying levels of wine knowledge walk in for a private tasting. Monica and David could not have been more welcoming, fun, laid back, and open in the conversation. In an hour we tasted 4 great wines, heard some terrific stories, and ordered cases of hidden gems that we will never find back home in Houston. Wine drinking is so much about the experience for me - and Monica and David made this an experience that we won't forget - right down to welcoming our group on the chalkboard outside the shop and even calling in an order to Taylor's Refreshers so that we could spend a few more minutes enjoying wine with them. To a person, joining the 750 Wines list was a highlight. Not only do Monica and David have access to great wines - but they are they type of people you feel like you can trust to put great wines in your hands at a fair price. NOTE: the first part of this is written as part of my experiences. I will not take it down but I think it is important to write the aftermath. I cannot comment on the actual experience since I did not end up going. For my birthday, I wished to arrange a tasting for six people. I emailed and got a prompt response, which was encouraging. Monica was very much interested in the kinds of wines and price points I was looking at. She referred to the tasting as 'complementary' which I found curious because in all reasonableness, the establishment would lose money if the tastings were absolutely free. I was assuming there would be a tasting fee, or if there were bottles to be bought, So on my next email, I set out more details of my group's preferences and waited for her next response. Her next email responded to the preferences but failed to make any note of the actual tasting and prices itself. So I wrote point blank, asking her "is this tasting free?", expecting a no, but at least letting me know so I could tell people how much $ to bring. She responds and tells me that the 'preferred' expenditure is 4 bottles per person, or 2 cases in total for the group. I'm visiting from Canada and the maximum one can take duty-free over the border is 2 bottles, though I was planning to buy 2 bottles at $200+ apiece. Another person is also visiting from Canada, and there is not much of a chance my group would buy 4 apiece. Two each, perhaps, and I could even get some more so that I could just enjoy on my trip. I don't know what their thought is but to me, a 4 bottle minimum purchase is a material statement that they should have prefaced their first email with, or at least confirmed it earlier. So I wrote back, expressing my disappointment and wanting to confirm if that 4 bottle 'preference' is indeed 'mandatory', since I was willing to try and work out something. If it was mandatory, then I would cancel. I've heard nothing back since. It's been 2 business days since I wrote before. As such, I think that this experience may be wonderful and all, but I would give strong caveats to anyone else who seeks to make a reservation: don't visit from other countries, and don't come thinking 2 or 3 bottles a person is satisfactory to them. (though at most wineries, purchases of bottles will exempt you from tasting prices) NB: since the writing of this review, I received a personal call from the proprietress of 750 Wines. After a long discussion, I am still unsure as to what to make of the experience since I was not there, but I appreciate her efforts to articulate her position over the phone to me. What I interpreted as one set of experiences seems to have been viewed in a different light by them. Not being fully aware of exactly what I knew, when they asked for a reference and I pointed out a blog, they assumed I personally knew the blog writer and thought I was aware of all salient terms to a visit. That resulted in them thinking to state that the tasting was free, though I was seeking a better elucidation of the terms that would be expected from a tasting. I won't lie - the phone conversation was partly frustrating, because at some points I felt like my points weren't getting through. In the same vein, I would have to think their side must have felt the same. In the end, we came to an amicable conclusion and I will try it another time in the future, when I visit the area again. I appreciate their efforts in calling me and trying to find a possible resolution to the situation. That being said, I hope this serves as a good message to anyone in the future, because having not been a Napa familiar, I tried to understand certain terms and services in the context of someone from outside without much knowledge of the terms and conventions commonly used in the region. Hopefully, the management will be more alert to alluding to this to others in the future, because they do seem to be genuinely nice people and I hope they don't encounter misunderstandings like this in the future. read more

On October 24, 2014 I entered the store for a specific purpose, I.e. Purchase of 6 bottles of wine . I had checked the stores on-line inventory and my selections were available. Upon entering I observed preparation for a group tasting. I commented I would return on Saturday. At that point I was told the weekend was booked with tastings. This is a retail store that should be able to accommodate tasters and purchasers. Since customers have choices, my choice is to shop elsewhere.. Sorry 750. Once you set your appt, she puts a personal touch on not only the wines but on your time with her, right down to your favorite music. Her wine choices were spot on and we were introduced to some super high quality, lower production wineries and wines that we had never heard of. Not only did we buy a bunch of wine we set up a re-occurring bi annual shipment based on what she saw that we liked. It's hard to imagine giving 750 Wines anything less than 5 stars. 750 Wines owners Monica and David Stevens are inviting, knowledgeable, warm hosts that make the exploration of wines very interesting and fun. If you are serious about wine and are interested in connecting with the vineyard, winery, and people behind it, then call 750 Wines and make an appointment. Be sure to ask for directions - although 750 Wines is right by all the action in St. Helena, it's somewhat hidden on the quiet and peaceful side down an alley.
