I called again to reiterate that I didn't make it due to the flat tire and that I wanted to reschedule, but I reached voicemail and left a message. The following day, I received a text stating that I would be charged a $50 no-show fee because I did not give 24-hour notice. While I understand the purpose of cancellation policies, they should also allow for reasonable exceptions in situations that are clearly beyond a patient's control. What was most frustrating was that the office claimed there was no record of my 4:02 PM phone call, despite the fact that I provided screenshots of my call logs, photos of the flat tire, and a receipt from the tire repair shop as proof of what happened. None of this seemed to matter. As a physician myself, I understand the importance of respecting a practice's time and policies. However, I would never treat a patient this way in the face of clear, documented extenuating circumstances. This situation felt less like a misunderstanding and more like a rigid policy being enforced without any consideration for the circumstances. Experiences like this make it difficult to support a business that appears unwilling to extend basic understanding to its clients.
