I suspected that my best price would be outside of Santa Barbara, and these guys had THE BEST PRICE! They are from Oxnard, and perhaps because they are in house, their pricing was way better??? I don't know. But I took a chance on them and they not only delivered the best price, they delivered great work! Ours was a tricky project: an old Victorian in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, designated as an historic, "of merit home"... whoever bid on this project would have more hoops to go through before they could begin the work. Jose patiently took care of the permitting process, (I did have to get involved a couple of times as the city planning department is difficult to work with), but once we got the permit, Avila roofing got down to business like the pros they are! We had 6 layers of roofing material, yes, 6! I don't think they'd ever seen so many layers. The demo process was a lot more arduous and time consuming than they had initially anticipated. No matter, they did not complain. They took on the job and they were going to deliver. It took them a good week to demo, and then the repairs started: replacing old and rotten wood with new ones, installing insulation where needed, and when problems arose, (like when they found a bee hive with over 30,000 bees, they waited for us to clear the problem) before they progressed. No complaints. I'm under construction at the house, so there were a bunch of other debris... they worked around the mess, and at the end of each day, they cleaned up before they left. Huge thank you for that! Try them out, I've been in the construction business for a long time. I don't mess around with fancy names and marketing. CRIMINAL! I had an…read moreextremely distressing experience with DBR Roofing & Architectural Metal aka DBR Premium that resulted in over $300,000 in interior water damage--damage that occurred just two days after they supposedly completed roof repairs. At the first rainfall, the roof failed catastrophically due to what I can only describe as negligent workmanship. The leak was not a minor issue--it was extensive and clearly the result of a failure to properly assess the roof's condition and execute a repair that would actually protect the home. In desperation, I requested immediate tarping to mitigate further water intrusion, and shockingly, DBR denied the service outright. There was no concern, no urgency, and no accountability shown for the defective repair they had just completed. Despite the severity of the damage, they ignored all attempts to resolve the matter with professionalism or even basic human decency. Worse, their communication during the dispute over payment was not only bullish and dismissive, but unprofessional to an offensive degree. The owner, Fredy Josef, outright refused to meet outside his own working hours to discuss the damage and treated my availability as a nuisance rather than respecting the enormous inconvenience and financial harm his company had caused. I was treated as though I owed him a favor just to have a conversation about the disaster his crew left behind. Ultimately, and most insultingly, Fredy filed a small claims lawsuit against me for the full amount of the service--a service that directly resulted in massive structural damage and no resolution. After replacing the entire roof with another company, Fredy purposefully cancelled our meeting only to come to my property unannounced and walk all over my new roof to take pictures of someone else's work as false evidence in court. It is, at best, shameful and at worst, a clear example of how not to conduct business in any trade, let alone one where people rely on your work to protect their homes and families. As a woman navigating this experience, I can't help but feel that my concerns were not taken seriously, and that had Fredy been dealing with a man, the tone and treatment would have been very different. If you value your property, your peace of mind, and basic respect as a customer--I strongly advise you to avoid DBR Roofing & Architectural Metal / DBR Premium. There's nothing "premium" about this company. It's a racket and a mafia.
