Based on consistent good reviews, I contacted Shelter in August of 2025…read more We had experienced numerous electrical power outages for several years, so I began to investigate possible solutions. What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

I am looking at about 10 different excellent solar companies for a solar panel and battery system…read more I was interested in getting the new prepaid ppa and actually receiving the 30% of the system by using a 5 year lease and buyout by paying the full amount either cash or with my own Heloc. Jason was the one that came out and he did a smaller system quote for me and my wife. Jason couldn't for the life of him tell me how the system was even more expensive than not using a prepaid ppa. I was also ignored by phone calls and "I'll get back to you" was what he told me. I would stay away and use some other company that is very clear about how the new incentives work.

He was very professional and took extra time to explain the materials that will be used and the entire process. The pricing was right in line with all other quotes we received. We had a horrible experience with our solar company trying to remove the panels before the work from AAA Roofing was able to start. Lee and his team were extremely accommodating and flexible and they were able to move the start date multiple times to match the solar take off schedule. Anita and Gigi were very responsive to all questions we had throughout the pricing, contracting, and scheduling steps. The entire crew that worked on the roof was very nice and respectful. They took their clean up job seriously after each day of work and left my yard and driveway cleaner than when they started.

Then, he explained the services they provide, the warranty, any additional services we requested be completed, and more. When I asked him questions about the process, he didn't make me feel dumb; he explained it in a very easy-to-understand way and definitely helped me understand the roofing process a lot better. After about 20 minutes of measurements and calculations, Ryan was able to email me a quote before he left our property! Unfortunately, this company had one of the highest quotes among the other roofing companies we met with, but I can't emphasize enough how professional and knowledgeable Ryan was. If only their pricing were lower, we'd love to consider working with them.

Since then, the wait time to speak to a customer service rep is long, messages are not returned, and I'm being given different answers to the same question by different people. This small, privately owned company has become a large conglomerate, and the personal service that they once had is gone. Very sad and disappointed that this has happened.

We opted to keep the same style - Spanish tile - but wanted all new tiles. Did a considerable amount of research and asking around, about which company to use. We received a few quotes, which were all similar. But Statewide Roofing stood out for the number of customer reviews received. And the reviews were all 5 stars. I know reviews can be shill/fake reviews, but these all seemed legit. They have someone answering the phone. No voice mail. Once we were under deposit, Cody came to our home to tarp two vulnerable sections of our roof before a rain storm. Once they started working, they moved efficiently and quickly. One crew strips and cleans your roof. Followed by a carpentry crew who replace any bad wood. Then the roofers come and lay down a double layer of paper and then install the tiles. They work cleanly and they work hard. Lastly, they brought our roof up to code by adding attic vents and installing a bunch of vents that we need, but which our previous roof was missing. Statewide roofing earned this 5 star review!

Fortunately, my garage (which was storing much of what I had that wasn't in the house) was the only thing that suffered damage, Unfortunately, most of my mementos were destroyed. I reroofed, and now almost 30 years later, with rumors are that El Nino is making a return visit, I thought (since we had suffered minor leaks during some of the recent rains) it was time to reroof, so I put Yelp to work to find me some people to interview. I picked five for the information I could glean, asking few questions, since I knew opening my mouth connected to a brain that knows little about roofing, would be a bad idea and also seeing if people were helpful with their explanations. Everyone (maybe except one) was personable enough for me to think I could work with them, but much of the information was kinda the same thing (although I noted some improvements in roofing since 97 that were useful to ask each about). The prices were more or less the same, and close enough that I knew I could find a point that would be roughly around the general price for them all, so it wasn't money. It was rapport and ultimately who gave me the greatest sense of trust. And. I learned, information that no one else told me. Roy, with Top Roofing was the ONLY one of the five that I saw who discussed the solar pool heating on my roof with me; each of the people I met with went on the roof. Not one other person mentioned it, and if you have solar panels on the roof - it's a consideration in doing the job. When I called the others who'd come to the house to say I'd made my choice and asked why I picked someone else I told them this - it was determinative that one person told me this was a job that needed to be done in addition to the roofing. He hooked me up with a solar heating company, he'd worked with before and I got on the phone with them and felt reasonably satisfied that between them and Roy it would get done on time, on budget. (It's not a small add-on to have them remove and reinstall the works, so if this affects you, be warned). Roy stayed in touch with me throughout - He came by and we spoke on phone daily. We had agreed that in the cost we he would completely replace and repaint a tongue-and-groove porch which was pretty rotted out) and aside from some permit forms I had to fill out, gave me a date of less than a week every date was kept. His crew was punctual, and so neat - the pool was covered, they cleaned up each of the five days they worked. Roy walked the yard with me before they started so I could make sure my gardener trimmed where he needed to, then walked it again, to tell me where we might need to keep trimming. He touched base with me every day, and when it was over gave me a video of the roof (both the main house and the garage were reroofed), and the porch which looked haggard now looks beautiful. I can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. And it looks really good. And since the last time I put on a roof, the tile now cools down the exterior which is good to have in an LA summer. The roof is up, the solar heating is back in operation. Let's go. A roof is an expensive proposition, and I think it's ok to know little if you hire someone you believe in (and, I'll admit, test out a little bit at the onset), who speaks to you in a way that is helpful and doesn't overwhelm you, but I think this was an incredibly positive experience in terms of labor, cleanliness, schedule and most importantly communication. We asked for a quote from My WIndow Solutions, got one that was quite good. We had explained the rationale for getting a replacement window (the leak). Parry sent over his crew right away to caulk around the existing one so we wouldn't get any incursion while waiting for the new one to arrive and get installed. Nice! For this job, I had also asked to have a custom window casing and deep windowsill built. We agreed that I'd buy the materials (a particular trim profile and hardwood species), prime them, and they'd do the cutting and installation. This collaboration worked perfectly.

Never use this company !!! I spent $5800 for a double wood front door 3 years ago. First off, it…read morewas supposed to be primed before installation. It was not. Second, it was a green door, meaning, it was not totally cured and oozed out sap for 4 months. 6 months later, the door cracked. After several months, they agreed to a new door. When it came, it was not measured correctly so I had to wait another 6 months for the next door. so now the door is installed, I had to pay again to get it repainted. Guess what, 6 months later, that new door cracked. They will not replace the door so I have to live with a cracked door since they told me it is past warranty. their solution...pay another $1500 to install a fiberglass door as a replacement. I would not even give this company 1 star if I could.

Most definitely recommend 1000% ------- Storytime: My neighbor was considering installing solar panels and during his roof inspection, the roof guy noticed that my roof had shingles blown off of it due to the big Santa Ana winds of 2025 that started all the dreaded fires. When I realized I had a literal hole in my roof protection, I reached out to about 6 or 7 roofers to get multiple quotes done. During this quoting process, we also reached out to some of our buddies, and this is when Ben came in. He came in ready to run. His pricing was on par with most of the roofers that visited. Since our buddies had a good experiences with Ben, we decided to go with him for the roofing job. We chose a date and paid him the initial fee to get the ball rolling. We chose May as our date. From the time of signing to the installation date, Ben was responsive on showing us the permit that he received at the city. We also verified the installation details (color, etc). He asked that we keep our driveway open during the whole project since they have a demo truck that will need access. On the date of install, Ben's crew came in the morning and got to it right away! The crew came at about 7:45AM and started working right at 8am. They didn't stop until about 8:30PM. Vision Roofing has been doing roofs for a while and it shows! Their crew came, had a whole process that was smooth, efficient and quick. My 3500 sq ft roof was done in 2 or 3 days There was a slight hiccup during installation, where his crew broke a water valve in the backyard. When I told Ben, he took care of the damage and took made sure that I was taken care of. All this was happening through text, so I was a bit nervous about everything, but I can vouch that he handled the issue professionally. On Thursday, inspector came. Walked around trying to find the sign off sheet. Once he found it, he signed it and left. Not sure if he actually inspected anything since he didn't go up the ladder that Vision Roofing provided for him. Government workers... lol Ben came and we did final payment. Couldn't be happier! After the sign off, the ladder stayed until Saturday. Ben and his foremen came off and on during this time to inspect and maybe do finishing touches. Ladder disappeared on Saturday. Things to note was the only time I actually had a face to face with Ben was during the initial inspection for quoting the job, handing him the first payment, and final payment. All others (initial deposit, and broken water line resolution) was done over text messages. Trying to resolve a broken water line through text was a bit frustrating at first, but once Ben felt that I was a bit frustrated, he picked it up. He was able to get a plumber the next day to fix the broken pipe. I mention the broken pipe incident bc I felt it's necessary to show how Vision Roofing resolves issues. I honestly feel he was very professional, and very understanding and sympathetic to the issue. I am very happy how he handled the situation. All in all, definitely 5 stars for Ben, his team, and Vision Roofing! You expect great service, quality workmanship, and great communication from a contractor. I got all three. I also understand that sh*t can happen during a big project like this. And when it does, this is where a company can shine, or can bring uncertainty into the equation. Vision Roofing was top notch. Thank you Ben! Here are some tips.... Won't bore you with the details, but here are some things that I have observed: 1. All the roofers use pretty much the same shingle manufacturer (Owens Corning) 2. Look into seeing how much a roofer includes in replacing damaged roof plywood. The most I've seen was 10% of the square footage (Ex: We had a 3500 sq ft roof, so some will cover up to 350 sq ft in roof damage). Roof damage is almost always certain (due to wear and tear) so be sure to get coverage. 3. Roofers have to bring their work up to code. We have a house built in 1993, so roofers needed to add the eave condensation thing (I am not a roofer), and added some inclines for the chimney meets the roof (so water does not pool there). 4. Roofers will also install new vent facades when they do the roofing. Some will paint the new facade to the same color as the roof, some will charge extra. 5. The timeline of events is contract sign, delivery, demo (removal of your old shingles), inspection (city needs to make sure roof is installed on proper, and healthy plywood), install, inspection (make sure roof is good).

He was recommended by our realtor who uses him for all her clients. I recently had a re-roof (as well as replacement of my attic vents with fireproof ones) done in order to install solar panels. Ed came out and gave me a very detailed bid, which was very reasonably priced. I was facing a tight deadline as the solar installation had already been scheduled. Ed made sure he completed the project with plenty of time to meet my deadline. His crew worked very hard and completed the job quickly and efficiently. No non-sense type people. Unlike other contractors, his crew did not pull away to start and/or finish some other job. They were here the entire time until they completed the job. One of his foremen had 8 years working with Ed. After completing the job, they cleaned up and left our home as if they had never been there. When they completed the job, they mentioned that one of the vents did not fit properly. They said they would get a new one and retune the following morning to reinstall it. So often, contractors say they will come back on a timely basis to fix or finish something they weren't able to do during the job, but they don't do it right away. Ed's people showed up the next day as promised and replaced the vent. That's service and develops trust. Lastly, Ed indicated he would return after my solar installation to check the roof to insure the solar installers didn't break anything, at no additional cost. Once again, that is service.
