My roof was badly in need of replacement before the predicted 2026 El Niño arrives. They worked to fit my roof into the schedule. Any problems that arose were discussed, and the additional costs were negotiated to mutual satisfaction. NEMA provided me with a 25-year workmanship/ 50-year warranty on the roof materials for the Shingle roof. Also, a 10-year workmanship warranty/ 20-year warranty on the roof materials for the Flat portion of my roof. In my opinion, the entire interaction with their crew exceeded my expectations and requirements. A good value, it was well worth it for me to have NEMA Roofing complete the work for the house that I intend to keep in the family. I would recommend.

The work that Tyler did for us was over 2 years ago. The work went very well. It was a very busy season for roofers at that time but Tyler was able to get me into his busy schedule. His price was reasonable and lower than another estimate from another roofer who has done a lot of work in our neighborhood. His team did the work well and on time. They cleaned up well after each workday. The best part I think is that Tyler is an owner/worker who was with his crew everyday and gets his hand dirty besides making sure that work is done properly. I highly recommend this business if you're looking for an honest and highly competent roofer.

What I wanted ideally was a system that would automatically power our home in the event of a power failure. I initially looked at generator systems, but discovered several downsides to that technology. Generators need fuel, which could be be gasoline, diesel, or natural gas. Of these, natural gas was the most attractive, but that would require significant trenching for a new line around the house. In addition, placement of a generator was a problem, due to zoning requirements. Also, gasoline/diesel/natural gas generators have an internal combustion engine, which needs maintenance, like oil changes. The best solution for me was to have a battery backup system installed. This type of system is also known as a "power wall." Shelter recommended a 2-battery system made by FranklinWH (WH stands for Whole House). The batteries are 15 KWH each, for a total of 30 KWH. In our case, this is sufficient to power our home for 24 hours, even during the summer when we are using the central A/C. Other times of the year, 30 KWH would power everything for 48 hours or more. Since installation we have had several power failures, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. In all cases, the backup system kicked in so quickly that didn't even notice. We didn't even have to reset any clocks. When then grid power comes back online, the batteries recharge automatically. Shelter did a great job of understanding what we wanted, and provided an excellent solution. We had a very minor issue that we noticed several months later, and Shelter responded immediately to remedy the issue. I recommend Shelter Roofing and Solar without hesitation.

I am looking at about 10 different excellent solar companies for a solar panel and battery system…read more I was interested in getting the new prepaid ppa and actually receiving the 30% of the system by using a 5 year lease and buyout by paying the full amount either cash or with my own Heloc. Jason was the one that came out and he did a smaller system quote for me and my wife. Jason couldn't for the life of him tell me how the system was even more expensive than not using a prepaid ppa. I was also ignored by phone calls and "I'll get back to you" was what he told me. I would stay away and use some other company that is very clear about how the new incentives work.

As luck would have it, Angel Carrillo just knocked on my door. He saw the tarp on the roof and offered to give us a quote. And boy, am I glad he did. Angel showed me how they use a self-adhesive layment that is more expensive but much stronger and longer-lasting than what other companies go with. I checked them out online. I spoke with Anthony, the young owner and Angel's older brother. His dad taught him the business. Well, after Anthony described the whole process and timelines, etc., I went with them, not only because they were extremely price competitive but because I felt very comfortable that they would do what they said they would do...and they really did. First, he arrived within the promised two-hour window. Additionally, he called me, and I received a text message with his approximate arrival time. Then, he explained the services they provide, the warranty, any additional services we requested be completed, and more. When I asked him questions about the process, he didn't make me feel dumb; he explained it in a very easy-to-understand way and definitely helped me understand the roofing process a lot better. After about 20 minutes of measurements and calculations, Ryan was able to email me a quote before he left our property! Unfortunately, this company had one of the highest quotes among the other roofing companies we met with, but I can't emphasize enough how professional and knowledgeable Ryan was. Since then, the wait time to speak to a customer service rep is long, messages are not returned, and I'm being given different answers to the same question by different people. This small, privately owned company has become a large conglomerate, and the personal service that they once had is gone. Very sad and disappointed that this has happened.

Parry sent over his crew right away to caulk around the existing one so we wouldn't get any incursion while waiting for the new one to arrive and get installed. Nice! For this job, I had also asked to have a custom window casing and deep windowsill built. We agreed that I'd buy the materials (a particular trim profile and hardwood species), prime them, and they'd do the cutting and installation. This collaboration worked perfectly.

Second, it was a green door, meaning, it was not totally cured and oozed out sap for 4 months. 6 months later, the door cracked. After several months, they agreed to a new door. When it came, it was not measured correctly so I had to wait another 6 months for the next door. so now the door is installed, I had to pay again to get it repainted. Guess what, 6 months later, that new door cracked. They will not replace the door so I have to live with a cracked door since they told me it is past warranty. their solution...pay another $1500 to install a fiberglass door as a replacement. I would not even give this company 1 star if I could.

Says I'm really busy, No apology until I call them out on what they promised. I didn't set the expectation, they did. I tell them, if we don't even have a contract and you're being like this, what am I to expect? Next day, I get a text about the room to be done, is it upstairs or downstairs, and the bathroom, is it being done? I'm totally confused, we never spoke about a bathroom and the room is upstairs. I get the quote finally. It's ~$30k more than another quote I got from a 5 star Yelp business. WTH. Looking deeper into the quote, it's talking about terracota tile and grout...we never spoke about that, we spoke what I already have downstairs, which is laminate. They even stated, that's a manufactured piece we can't get anymore but we can get something close to match. Don't always believe Yelp reviews, but I'd believe this one.

I have an atmospheric river of respect and appreciation for Great Way Roofing! We had an older roof on our home in Camarillo, CA, with a number of leaks and outdated lightweight tiles that broke if you looked at them funny. By Dec 2021 it was time for a replacement with something that we can walk on when necessary. We had to wait a few months (there's a reason this team is busy!), but once the work commenced in late March 2022, we could not have been happier. Rod, Tony and the crew treated me like a brother, the tear-off took just 3/4 of one day, and we had our beautiful new 40-year CertainTeed Shingle roof in place in just four days. I waited until Jan 2023 to write this because the measure of any new roof is its water resistance. After record rainfall in Dec and Jan I can't find a single leak on our large roof, and believe me I have looked. When you're writing the checks you can't imagine the warm, fuzzy feeling something mundane but expensive like a quality new roof will give you, but believe me, when it rains in buckets, you will be oh-so happy you did it right. One great part of the Great Way process is the estimate. Unlike many roofing companies (I got 3 other estimates), Rod & co were honest about the unseen possibilities following the tear-off and included some basic plywood sheathing/other wood replacement costs in their estimate, and detailed additional wood cost down to the dollar. Two other companies told us that they couldn't estimate wood replacement costs until after (we committed with them) the tear-off, and when I followed up with some of their customers it was clear that they had been ripped-off in this area. Caveat emptor -- roofing companies like to tack on exorbitant and often unnecessary wood replacement costs. Great Way went over every inch with me before and after, and in fact gave me a break on some additional fascia boards I asked them to replace. The other Great part is the follow-up. I asked for several special considerations (involving a skylight, ridgeline shingles, etc) that had to be dealt with a month or two after the main install, and GW sent their main man over to deal with every one in a timely manner. Look, how often do you get a new roof? Just call Great Way and get it done right. The next time Ma Nature sends an atmospheric river our way, you'll be happy you did! read more

Greatway was recommended to us several years ago when we needed a repair done. Matt came over to give us a quote. He gave us two options, one to save money (small local repair) and a more expensive one he could guarantee (repair up to the ridge). He talked straight and was very easy going and made us feel very comfortable, so we went forward with using Greatway for that repair, which was proven successful in the next rainstorm. A few years later, we sprung another leak and didn't hesitate to call Matt again, and again another successful repair. When it finally came time to replace the whole roof, there was no question who to call. This time, Brandon came out. He was every bit as straight and easy going as Matt. We spent a long time deciding on materials and colors, and Brandon and the office staff were very accommodating in providing us with addresses nearby where we could go see our choices on other homes. With our decisions made, a date was set. Greatway showed up when they said they would, and over a few days the old roof was gone and the new one installed. Tony oversaw the work and was very patient with our questions and special requests. Brandon came by to check in. They both stayed in communication via text message, even sending us periodic photos and videos from the rooftop to show us progress along the way. The crew left the entire property clean and orderly each day and everyone conducted themselves absolutely professionally. The job was completed slightly below the contracted price (given our special requests, we were expecting it to be more!). We could not be happier with the experience and highly recommend Greatway Roofing to anyone who wants to deal with people who are friendly, reliable, professional and do great work. read more

I contacted GreatWay for a quote on replacing my old and rotting 2x4's on my slatted patio cover with a flat roof, something that I had wanted to do for several years and did not want to take on myself. It was a relatively small job, essentially a 14 foot by 14 foot area, and I was afraid they would think the job was too small to bother with. They promptly came out following my initial call and had a price for me the next day. The quote was well within the amount I had budgeted for the job, and within a week they had me scheduled for the replacement. All the work was completed in a few hours, the slats replaced with plywood siding, metal flashing and caps installed, and peel & stick roofing roll installed and trimmed. What a difference it made, I couldn't have been happier! Rod, Tony, and Fernando left the place cleaner than before they started the job, not something that many contractors seem to think or care about. The work was done in between the rains we had this spring, and after one of the heavier downpours Rod contacted us to make sure we had no leaking issues (which I was happy to tell him that we did not). I found GreatWay to be a "great way" to upgrade my patio cover and enhance my outdoor experience in my own backyard. I don't post many reviews; if I have an issue I with a business I prefer to handle directly with them rather than through a "digital soapbox." Needed to replace my 40 year old roof, and got estimates from 4 companies. I selected GreatWay because (1) I had received personal recommendations from two other people, and (2) they provided the best price for the full roof installation, whereby two other companies had estimates about $5K-6K higher. Tim R. was assigned my project, and he communicated with me at every step of the way, from the initial estimate, to the preparation for the job (including personally moving a pile of tiles from a neighbor's house, who was giving them to me), the job itself, and the follow up afterward. The project itself took about 4 working days, and the lead worker, Emilio, was professional, and I was texted updates on the project (with brief films) each day. The only follow-up I had to do was to arrange a painter to paint some of the unpainted boards that required painting after replacement of wood rot. Also, there were nails on the back sides of the fascia boards that the painter said needed to be removed, but Tim and Emilio came out right away and removed and sanded down the nails so the painter could paint over the nail spots. The roof is now replaced with a lifetime warranty (Tim said to just call them if we notice any future issues). Lastly, no up front payment was required. I was allowed to pay in full with a check once the project, and its follow-up, were completed. read more

I first contacted Greatway Roofing four years ago to do some repairs. Their bid was pretty much right in the middle, and the entire team was nothing but professional. Then, things happened and I had to postpone the project. I contacted them again this year. Based on my interactions with them in the past, I didn't even seek other bids, just an updated one from Greatway. I ended up going with a new roof, from plywood to tile, and couldn't be happier. Shane and Matt gave me a detailed contract. They answered all of my questions and were patient while my husband and I chose the new tile, vent and flashing colors. They let us salvage some of the old tiles for a few of our neighbors, as it's been discontinued. They were courteous and cleaned up after themselves, leaving the yards in better shape than when they started. We couldn't be more pleased with GreatWay. They met or exceeded all of our expectations. Matt, our project manager, communicated with us regularly and was always available to answer questions. The crew worked hard and they were very respectful and friendly. The work took 4 days to complete but they cleaned up every day and didn't leave messes for us to work around. Our roof was 35 years old and had been repaired a couple of times by other roofers, but the repairs didn't hold up for very long and we had big leeks over the garage for several years. Finally we bit the bullet and decided to get a full "lift and replace" job done. The recent rain storm was a very good test and we have a great looking roof that doesn't leek. We reviewed several bids and GreatWay was not only the lowest price, but also offered the best quality materials and process. The crew was super. They were skillful, respectful, and professional. The job was done extremely well and on time, including clean up. Prior to installing the new roof, GreatWay repaired some construction gaps caused by the original builder. We were so satisfied, that we used Greatway to also replace roofs on our two children's homes, a rental property, and have referred them to other neighbors. All have been extremely satisfied with the quality and professionalism, which demonstrates a pattern of "great" work by GreatWay. We had a possible leak in our roof so we called GreatWay to come out and inspect. Tim arrived on time and we explained the concern. Within 15 - 20 minutes, he got up on the roof, found there was a crack in one of the tiles and sealed it up. He took pictures and explained everything to us about how it may have happened and even checked out the rest of the roof. The best part was he didn't charge us anything! Tim was so professional, informative, friendly, and personable. This is a company that any corporate leader could take a lesson from. They are the true meaning of integrity. GreatWay Roofing was timely, professional and competent. We needed a roof replaced on one of our outbuildings and roof maintenance completed on the main house. The project was managed and carried out in a well-organized manner and within the time frame outlined in the proposal. When we discovered a leak while waiting for the project's scheduled start date, the supervisor came out and put tarp over the leak to ensure that no damage would occur until the roof was replaced. We have worked with GreatWay Roofing for approximately 5 years. This company is professional, reliable and trustworthy. Each time they come for our our roofs, Matt would take pictures to show the areas that needed repair and what they were going to do in replacing and repairing the roof areas. We then discussed the cost and the time schedule. I will say that each time they came their bid and research were always right on. I've now had GreatWay do two repairs on my roof (different parts of the roof at different times). In both cases, Matt explained the problem, gave me different options for repairing at different price points with different levels of warranty and was upfront, honest and dependable in every aspect. The work was done quickly, professionally and everything was left clean and tidy when they were done. The quality of workmanship was proved with the next rainstorm: no more leaking! I'm extremely pleased with my experience with GreatWay Roofing repairing the roof on my commercial building in Santa Clarita. Two previous contractors had failed miserably at fixing multiple leak issues, even after multiple tries over several years. Despite some complicated conditions on the roof, like an added solar system and some tricky design details, Matt and the GreatWay crew successfully eliminated all the leaks on the first try. I just had my roof replaced in Thousand Oaks and the whole experience was 5-star. From the first phone call to get an estimate to the completion of the job, the staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Tim, the sales rep, was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions with patience and understanding. So great to work with. We interviewed three contractors for a new roof and GreatWay made a great first impression by being professional, responsive, a customer oriented. Since all the quotes we received were the same, we went with GreatWay and are glad we did. They took care of everything, and handled an encountered hiccup professionally and with flying colors! Most definitely recommend 1000% ------- Storytime: My neighbor was considering installing solar panels and during his roof inspection, the roof guy noticed that my roof had shingles blown off of it due to the big Santa Ana winds of 2025 that started all the dreaded fires. When I realized I had a literal hole in my roof protection, I reached out to about 6 or 7 roofers to get multiple quotes done. During this quoting process, we also reached out to some of our buddies, and this is when Ben came in. He came in ready to run. His pricing was on par with most of the roofers that visited. Since our buddies had a good experiences with Ben, we decided to go with him for the roofing job. We chose a date and paid him the initial fee to get the ball rolling. We chose May as our date. From the time of signing to the installation date, Ben was responsive on showing us the permit that he received at the city. We also verified the installation details (color, etc). He asked that we keep our driveway open during the whole project since they have a demo truck that will need access. On the date of install, Ben's crew came in the morning and got to it right away! The crew came at about 7:45AM and started working right at 8am. They didn't stop until about 8:30PM. Vision Roofing has been doing roofs for a while and it shows! Their crew came, had a whole process that was smooth, efficient and quick. My 3500 sq ft roof was done in 2 or 3 days There was a slight hiccup during installation, where his crew broke a water valve in the backyard. When I told Ben, he took care of the damage and took made sure that I was taken care of. All this was happening through text, so I was a bit nervous about everything, but I can vouch that he handled the issue professionally. On Thursday, inspector came. Walked around trying to find the sign off sheet. Once he found it, he signed it and left. Not sure if he actually inspected anything since he didn't go up the ladder that Vision Roofing provided for him. Government workers... lol Ben came and we did final payment. Couldn't be happier! After the sign off, the ladder stayed until Saturday. Ben and his foremen came off and on during this time to inspect and maybe do finishing touches. Ladder disappeared on Saturday. Things to note was the only time I actually had a face to face with Ben was during the initial inspection for quoting the job, handing him the first payment, and final payment. All others (initial deposit, and broken water line resolution) was done over text messages. Trying to resolve a broken water line through text was a bit frustrating at first, but once Ben felt that I was a bit frustrated, he picked it up. He was able to get a plumber the next day to fix the broken pipe. I mention the broken pipe incident bc I felt it's necessary to show how Vision Roofing resolves issues. I honestly feel he was very professional, and very understanding and sympathetic to the issue. I am very happy how he handled the situation. All in all, definitely 5 stars for Ben, his team, and Vision Roofing! You expect great service, quality workmanship, and great communication from a contractor. I got all three. I also understand that sh*t can happen during a big project like this. And when it does, this is where a company can shine, or can bring uncertainty into the equation. Vision Roofing was top notch. Thank you Ben! Here are some tips.... Won't bore you with the details, but here are some things that I have observed: 1. All the roofers use pretty much the same shingle manufacturer (Owens Corning) 2. Look into seeing how much a roofer includes in replacing damaged roof plywood. The most I've seen was 10% of the square footage (Ex: We had a 3500 sq ft roof, so some will cover up to 350 sq ft in roof damage). Roof damage is almost always certain (due to wear and tear) so be sure to get coverage. 3. Roofers have to bring their work up to code. We have a house built in 1993, so roofers needed to add the eave condensation thing (I am not a roofer), and added some inclines for the chimney meets the roof (so water does not pool there). 4. Roofers will also install new vent facades when they do the roofing. Some will paint the new facade to the same color as the roof, some will charge extra. 5. The timeline of events is contract sign, delivery, demo (removal of your old shingles), inspection (city needs to make sure roof is installed on proper, and healthy plywood), install, inspection (make sure roof is good).
