The scope of what was done to complete the job, to assure the leak would be corrected, was carefully thought out. Our roof was leaking and we wanted to redo the entire thing. I requested a quote in February and Adam was quick to schedule an appointment with me for a flat roof replacement. Good salesman but shoddy work. Lots of issues but worse was that after the job was done and their supervisor said everything was good I had to point out numerous issues. Worse was that they installed the wood under shingles upside down in one area and had to come back and take off shingles and redo part of the roof. The inspection fee was reasonable, as was their repair pricing. All of the staff I connected with were all true professionals. We completed a complete reroof with NEMA back in January that included removing and replacing our solar panels, new concrete tiles, replacing almost half of our sheathing. Nema was very fair and up front about pricing in the agreement so there weren't many surprises. One of our solar panels got damaged when they took it down and they ordered a new one to replace it. Okay -- the roof is beautiful. Exactly what I wanted and the job was performed quickly and efficiently, the workers showed up on time, they were nice, and normally this would be a 5* review. Except ... 1) A vent was installed off-center and they had to make special arrangements with me to fix it. And yes, they fixed it. See the picture below. 2) One of their trucks dripped oil on my driveway. They came by today with industrial cleaner and cleaned up the mess, but usually workers know when their trucks are leaking and they just put down a pizza box or something. Again, they fixed it, but it should never have happened. See the picture below. 3) Not all their workers are careful with how they throw debris -- sometimes there are no options and landscaping will suffer. But when there is an option, then it should never happen. I found lots of nails and debris in my landscape all around the yard, and I'm still removing them. See the picture below. 4) They said that I needed 9 extra sheets of plywood to repair old and damaged wood. That's fine, except they charged me for 300 square feet of plywood, whereas 9 x 32 = 288. This amounted to an overcharge of $105. They refunded this charge to me, but if I hadn't done the math, it would have been just wrong. 5) Their workers used outlets in my yard that were not grounded, even after I asked them not to use those outlets. This resulted in a circuit being blown and I had to re-set the circuit breaker. I then put blue tape over the outlet with a big "do not use" on it. 6) If you use their automated Quickbooks system to pay, beware of the extra $25 "convenience fee." I complained about this fee, as it was not in our contract, and the fee was ultimately refunded. But Adam's first reponse to me (via email) was "We do not need to nickel and dime you for $25. Those are quick books fees." Ironically, that was exactly what he was doing, nickel-and-diming me, but then shifting the burden to me for being petty about it. Again, should never have happened. 7) On the day they put on the roofing, it was misting and the plywood was damp. They started at 7am and covered the roof with the initial sheeting direclty onto the damp plywood. I was unable to communicate with anyone about my concerns as my text went unanswered and no one on site spoke English. I still am not 100% convinced this was okay, but they said it was fine. 8) I noticed some red/brown staining on our patio a few days after the job was done and wrote to Adam saying it looked like wet spray paint may have been dragged on our patio. (See picture -- the actual staining covered a much larger area). Adam sent over Steph, who brought along some acetone, and Steph cleaned up the mess. Steph mentioned that it looked more like the old drip-edge from the demo had left some drag marks. Anyway, kudos to NEMA on this one. I have included a picture below of the final roof -- it really is beautiful. I want to add that I tried to get quotes from 4 companies, NEMA and three others. One of the quotes was about $2k less than NEMA, but they had all these extra charges in the contract that I thought it was kind of scammy. Another didn't give the quote for 3 weeks and by that time I had already picked NEMA -- and that company had bad reviews anyway. And the last one never gave a quote and stole my 12' ladder. I won't name that company -- just know that there are some hacks out there. Finally, Adam was extra nice, and certainly wanted to be helpful in resolving all of these issues, but there were just too many small things that should never have happened. The roof is fully 5 star quality. Just so much else happened that I have to give NEMA 4 stars. read more

We had NEMA come out to look at our roof we were told by our insurance company that we would be dropped from our policy if we didn't get a new roof! We had tons of friends giving us the name of roofing companies they used. We had about 4 come out and give us quotes. To be completely honest all the quotes we got were in the same price range, which left me with and daunting task of picking one. We discussed it for a couple days and after doing some online research and looking at Yelp we decided to go with NEMA for our roof. Not to mention the sales team weren't pushy which also helped us make a sound decision. They came out and did the job, finished on time with no issues. Crew was professional and persevered through the terrible heat. I felt so bad for them. I don't know how they do it but they did and had great work ethic. The process of getting a new roof shouldn't be stressful and it wasn't. Thanks to Adam, the process was smooth and quick. It took 4 days to complete a 2700 sq foot rooftop. Everyday, either Adam or Thomas would check in to provide an update on the project. I would say on any given day, there were anywhere from 4-7 workers on site to make the project go by quickly. We really didn't have to do, Nema Roofing took care of the permit process. Communication is key for any large home project, it was easy to communicate with anyone. Besides, the daily onsite check in. I was about to send a quick email, text or call if I had any simple questions. We installed Owens Corning shingles. I work from home, I can see and hear the workers during the installation process. If you aren't home, they provided footage of the torch process on the flat portion of the roof and step by step visuals of the project. I had 4 roofing companies submit a quote for the reroofing of my ranch home. 3 of them walked the entire roof, 1 did not, which narrowed it down. I then checked the Better Business Bureau, which narrowed it down to 2. Both had submitted similar pricing, however Thomas won due to their customer service. I wasn't sure what color roof to go for so he took me for a ride around the neighborhood in his truck and pointed out the different types/colors of roofing, explaining what would last and what would be best for my roof. He then left me with a color chart so I can make an informed decision. The workmen who stripped the roof then reroofed were great. Very friendly, punctual, tidy and efficient, even in a punishing summer temperature. They just hosed themselves down every hour or so in my garden and I passed around cold drinks and ice creams to keep them cool. Thomas visited regularly to make sure everything was going to plan and was running up a ladder onto the roof with his gang. We had a few spots of dry rot in the fascia and on the roof support so they replaced them as part of the roofing job. If you are getting your roof done it really does make it look so much better if you have new fascias and guttering to match.
