So, after all this record setting rain, my house sprung several leaks through my Spanish Tile roof. I spent a few hours calling around and checking references until I got to G & C and contacted Caesar, the owner. I left him a voicemail with all my details. He called me right back and said he could be out within a half hour. Mind you, it was still raining. Caesar made it out within the half hour that he said he would. We went over all the leaks. He jumped up on the roof and ran around like he was on the ground floor. Obviously, greatly experienced at walking on slippery Spanish tiles. Turns out my sky light was improperly designed for torrential downpours. Plus, I had several blockages in the alleyways of the roof connections due to years of debris that needed to be resolved. Finally several of my vents needed to be resealed. Anyway, Cesar gave me a very fair quotation for all the work and said he would be able to slip me in as soon as possible, but that because of the rain there's so many problems he has to deal with. The next morning I asked him for an update, and he said I was in luck because one of his clients had just canceled and he could come out and get the job done, today. Caesar and his crew came out and did the job in a few hours and everything seems to be in great working order. I am very satisfied for the work he did, and the value that he and his team offered - in this trying situation. I am sure that some other shady roofers would have gouged me by charging a fortune and overworked my rooting needs, but not Caesar. In the recent Ventura and SoCal storms, we discovered a leak from the kitchen stove hood vent. From references, I called Caesar Martin at G&C Roofing. I got an immediate response and a visit from Caesar in an hour. He fixed the vent roof duct to shield the high wind driven rain upon observation for repairs. Cost was very reasonable. A week later another severe storm caused additional leaks around the stove exhaust ducting. Upon calling Caesar, he was on-site the next day that the rains stopped. He found cracked roof tiles further up the roof and repaired the tiles and flashing. Again, the cost was very reasonable. I will always call Caesar and G&C for roof issues, leaks or otherwise. They are responsive and take full responsibility for their work. I would recommend them to anyone needing roof repairs or work. read more

Cesar speaks with integrity and seemed to have good intentions, but there is a serious problem with him. He gave a very competitive estimate compared to the line of shysters I received bids from. He came and repaired 2 leaks over my garage. I paid him. The repair diverted the leak to another area and caused a huge leak in a different area. After some back and forth and delays, he came back and fixed the problem. I paid him some additional money. The leak improved further, but there is still a small leak. I cannot get him to come back and complete the job, so after paying him to repair my leaking roof, it still leaks. He will not communicate with me on options or why he is avoiding me. I'm not sure what the problem is with this guy, but I've been dealing with him for over 2 months and here are the behaviors: He says he will call and never calls. He says he will show up and doesn't show up. He says he will send paperwork, but doesn't do it. I had to keep asking and still did not get proper documentation. Once I got in touch with him, no excuses were offered as to why he did not do what he said he would. On four occasions, he had family emergencies and he did not make any phone calls to cancel his appointments. He never explains or apologizes or addresses the fact that he blew you off. He has quite a few 5 star reviews here and my guess is that if he had been able to successfully fix my leak on his first trip, I would have given him a 5 star review, as well. So, it seems he has problems if the job does not go to plan. Dealing with him on an extended basis is difficult. He does not keep his commitments and is unprofessional in his communications. Read the other reviews carefully. You will see that even some of the 5 star reviews allude to communication problems. I'm not aware of any problem between us. I even offered him more work replacing my fascia boards. I have no idea what his problem is because he just won't return my calls anymore and has a problem being honest about whatever it is. The bottom line is that I paid him to repair leaks over my garage and I still have a leak. I do not recommend him because he is extremely unreliable, doesn't keep his word, and doesn't communicate. Update: Cesar called and came back to my house after I posted this review. He fixed the final leak and took responsibility for it. He says he stands behind his work. I think he probably does, but I just found him to be too much trouble to deal with. read more

Contacted Roofing guy (Cesar), came out on a Sunday. Had to contact a few times. Cesar Inspected the roof, requested chimney flashing repair job. He provided a verbal estimate and said he will provide a writing one by email. Revised my review, initial miscommunication. Scope of work: Leaky attic from chimney, and roof maintenance. When work was being completed, he was focused, clean setup, showed me pictures of possible leak from chimney flashing, replaced with all new flashing, caulking, and paint. He also replaced some existing cracked tiles, realigned some overlapping tiles, nails some loose tiles, re-caulked vents which were cracked and painted them gray to match my roof. Cesar explained early miscommunication and i do understand. The guy was straight forward with his work and made up for my previous assumptions. Another happy customer. Thank you. read more

Highly recommend G&C Roofing. After our last rainstorm we discovered our ceiling bubbling up in our entryway. The next day my wife called Caesar very early in the morning. He told her he was very busy but he'd try to fit her in. After a couple hours and finishing another job he told her he was on his way. Seems we had a displaced tile and water was getting underneath,Caesar took pictures to show her. I am literally blown away! I found Cesar through a Facebook request to my friends that I needed a roofer immediately. Upon a rare down pour of rain, over night my closet ceiling was leaking! Horrified, I called him and he immediately offered to come over. He gave me an estimate and I frankly called a few other roofers just for comparison. The sun came out and I was no longer in a hurry but the next day the rain came again and BAM my ceiling was leaking even worse. With a "no response" from one roofer and another exorbitant bid from another, I called Cesar on a Saturday not expecting to hear from him until the next biz day. He not only answered his cell phone, but dropped what he was doing to come tarp my roof. He then come that next Monday to repair it. The rains came yet again on Tuesday and voila! no more leaks. He then checks in with me not once, but 2 more times to ensure everything was OK. WHAT CONTRACTOR DOES THIS?!?!? We noticed a few major stains in our ceiling back in August. My husband thought the painters just missed the area when we had some work done. I said it is a leak. He looked in the attic and saw no visible damage. Well the rain came last Tuesday and it poured. Well it was a leak all right. The ceiling started to bubble. I checked out reviews on Yelp and decided to call G&C Roofing on Wednesday. Cesar called me back within a few hours and made arrangements to come on Friday at 2:00p. He was on time and very thorough. He found several broken tiles as well as some vent pipes that needed sealing. He put a temporary fix to get us through the rainy weekend . He showed up on Monday to fix everything. Our roof leaked badly during the last rain storm. I called several companies before this one, and none of them were willing to come out and even look at the roof. I can't say enough about Cesar. He showed up so quickly. He went up on the roof and put the tiles back that had slid down and stopped the immediate leak. I hired this roofing company in January 2016 to redo our carport roof due to on going leak battles. I had contacted several roofers for estimates. I then contacted G&C Roofing and dealt with Cesar. His estimate was competitive with the other roofer estimates and Cesar responded quicker than the other roofing companies. In addition to the roof, I ended up also needing fascia board and plywood replacement from water rot. What I appreciated was that Cesar replaced only those boards that needed replacement and did not try to sell me on replacing plywood that did not need replacement. Cesar also did a clean job of adjoing fascia boards at the corners and at midway joints. Cesar also did extra fascia board replacement that was not part of the contract. I have peace of mind on our carport....no more leaks!! Due to the early 2017 rains, I've had leaks in two parts of my home. I've had to call on Cesar at G&C Roofing. Again, timely and quick response. I feel fortunate for that. His skillful eyeball take on the source of the leak has been spot on. I feel like I have a roofer I can depend on knowing there is room for guesstimate error.
