This place is so so good! I'm a huge fan of granola and they had it! It was goji berry granola with dates, walnuts, pats, coconut oil and other yummy stuff! I loved that they paired it with almond milk instead of Greek yogurt! I had a small pot of tea with it and it was lovely! My friend is gluten and dairy intolerant so this place was perfect! She got a raw chocolate hazelnut bar and one of their vegan scones(it did have wheat)! She was even able to get an almond milk double latte. We loved infinity foods! read more

I LOVE Infinity Foods, so it was a safe bet that I was going to enjoy their cafe, situated just a few doors down on Gardner St. My first visit I ordered a yummy sharer- a medley of delish Mediterranean bits and bobs: hummus, olives, chick peas, felafel...you know the drill. I didn't share it, I ate it all...greedy? maybe. content, full-bellied and ready to take on the world? definitely! The food is fresh, interesting and of course entirely vegetarian. In the spirit of their parent company, Infinity Cafe make it their mission to serve food that is both healthy and tasty and they succeed! This is one of my favourite places to sit with a coffee on a sunny day. They have seating outside as well as a built in bar that looks out on to the street. Weather permitting, the front of the cafe will be entirely opened up, creating a very European feeling street cafe vibe. The salads are yummy, cous cous, med veg, greek...all SO good. I can also recommend the cakes, especially the carrot cake...its really tasty and you know it can't be too gluttonous, if Infinity made it! read more

Infinity Foods offers organic food: simple as. Everything you can think, done organically or in veggie and vegan varieties, is available here for a pretty penny or two... Or make that a whole purseful. I really don't understand this fad: what's so wrong with food that wasn't grown wholesomely that you're prepared to pay double, even triple the price sometimes for exactly the same product? It's not that I don't understand healthy food: yes, nuts and berries are better for you than chocolate and burgers, that's not hard, but this 'organic' barrier is where the whole thing falls down. Does it matter whether the apple's organic or not? What has an organic apple got? It wasn't grown with pesticides? Oh, you mean those things that we engineered to make sure our food wouldn't be eaten by pests? Sure, some were bad, they aren't used anymore, but now they're fine! And why does it cost more to leave an apple to rot in the sun than spray it with expensive chemicals? Answer that next time you find a worm in your organic apple. Anyway, rant over. I don't shop organically, but I have been in here, and I left pretty sharpish. Everything has an insane price-tag, for stuff that isn't worth the extra couple of pounds for being made with the right kind of water or god-knows-what. My favourite thing about the Infinity Foods Café is that it's one of the only places in Brighton I can go for cake they've got a great range suitable not only for coeliacs, but vegans and vegetarians too. As if the choice of cake wasn't exciting enough for someone with a wheat intolerance, they also do gluten-free bread with their soups. Their GF bread is the same recipe as the one sold in their Gardner Street shop, which is rather delicious. They wouldn't give me the recipe, but I gather it has tapioca flour and apple juice in it... As well as hot lunches like soup, hot sandwiches and pasta-based dishes, they also do a great mix of salads a big portion of mixed salads is about £5 and suitably filling. They do a range of unusual teas too, like a lovely rooibos earl grey, but they use bags not loose leaf, which loses them points. I can't fault their Red Roaster coffee though absolutely delicious. The front of the cafe is airy and open, with tables and chairs outside meaning that it's a particularly lovely place to go in the summer. Definitely well worth a visit, if only for the cake and coffee. read more

This store is excellent and made me wish for one closer to home in London. They have a wonderful fresh produce section, something lacking in most of London's so-called health food stores. Items purchased: fresh salad mix, chocolate halva, agave syrup, 3 mini vegan cakes, chocolate covered sesame snaps, and vegan chocolate. Totally healthy. Totally. I think I'm reviewing the cafe in Gardener Street, rather than the store on the corner. It's a cramped affair, selling mainly organic food. It's all vegetarian/vegan, including the pretend bacon type stuff - which I'm not too keen on. Most times I've been there I've had to line up for several minutes to place my order at the counter. Then they bring the food to your table when ready. There are seats upstairs and also outside when it's decent enough weather. It has a chaotic feel to me, with a bit of jostling for tables going on. The ground floor feels very crowded when standing in line during busy periods - you are right next to the self-service drinks cabinet and people are frequently requiring you to step aside while they mull over what they want. But there is little room to be able to step aside..... The staff have appeared to be quite stressed on most visits and I question their ability to work together as a team. I find the food ok, but on the meagre side. I would say it's overpriced for what you get and actually getting to the point when you can sit down and relax feels a bit like an assault course. I really enjoy shopping at the store on the corner so somehow expected more of the cafe, which is why I gave it a few attempts to like it. read more

Super affordable and super delicious vegan English breakfast!! Both, pancakes with maple syrup and the English breakfast, have been so so good! Wish I would live here and could every single day here. What lets it down for me are the serving staff as other veg/ vegan cafes seen to have friendlier staff. I always get the impression that staff here wish they were somewhere else. This place is a really good bet for a delicious, vegetarian and organic lunch or pit stop when shopping around in the North Laines. I had a completely yummy falafel plate with fresh greens, flatbread, humous, aubergine puree, and tsaziki. The falafels were fresh and flavourful, and the various sauces were yummy. It's a cute place too, and from upstairs, you can peer down on all manor of strange people shopping and cavorting around the area, which makes for great lunch-time entertainment. read more

We all know what Infinity Foods is.. it's an organic food store cooperative. It has an ideology that I really want to get behind: organic, often locally sourced, veg sold to you by staff members that are treated well and have a stake in the business. Amazing. However, there is no use have a nice fluffy ideology if you're going to be incompetent. The main reason my disdain for this place started to fester is because you can never find a staff member to help you in the aisles. This is happened to me many times, resulting in my 'giving up.' However, recently I was looking for a pumpkin.Determined, I found someone, quizzed them about the pumpkin and he said he would find someone who knew about the pumpkins: fair enough. But when he finally found the purported carrier of pumpkin knowledge, the chap said 'Is this going to take long? I'm about to go on my lunch break.' It then transpired that he knew not the foggiest about squashes, beyond the names of them. I have also encountered these levels on incompetence during my many dealings with their bakery. Nice sour dough bread, so long as it actually turns up, or isn't burnt! Of course, once I chose my pumpkin, the price of the thing was high. It was an organic blue pumpkin, I expected that. However, what I resent is that Infinity Foods has become such a Brighton institution that it feels it will always have a customer base, so it can get lazy: at least that's my feeling. I really don't feel that having pride in and knowledge of what you are selling means that you are giving in to corporate consumerism. It just makes you good at what you do. Up your game, Infinity Foods or else you can't justify your massive price tags. read more

What can I say, this place is the best spot to get Organic in Brighton. End of story. Granted it might be a little pricey, and you might have to get there early to get the produce that you're looking for, but overall they have a great selection, wonderful organic wines, delicious raw and vegan chocolate, and basic stuff this creams, hair products, supplements, etc. This is a one stop health shop. read more

The best place for all things organic, unusual and ethical food- some things are more expensive but I've found that alot of their veg is the same price as chain supermarkets and much better. Infinity outdoes even London's fancier Wholefoods with its friendly staff, eye for detail and amazing bakery. Go around mid-morning for the wholewheat cheese and mustard rolls or lunchtime for the delicious pizza slices. After trying their gluten free bread I gave up all cynicism and admitted that healthy can be yummy. Just don't get in my way when I am picking out the biggest cheese and mustard roll- I lose all sense of shop etiquette! read more

The sign outside tells you this is a workers cooperative founded in 1979 and for me it is still very reminiscent of those days. I remember then that bistros were springing up everywhere - all offering the 'new' foods (new to us Brits anyway) found in the Mediterranean & the Middle East. Think pulses, garlic, herbs, wholemeal & aubergines.......and these guys still do. Their food is delicious, healthy and - strange to say - tastes of something!!! They do, unsurprisingly, fresh soups, sarnies, hot drinks, juices, waters & cakes and the ubiquitous flapjack thingies. They cover the vegan/gluten free bases too. I had a tofu & miso sandwich & a rice drink. Yum. Many of the clientèle are the predictable yurt knitting Guardian readers but hey, that includes me!!! A lovely vegetarian cafe with lots of vegan food on offer too. It has a nice relaxed feel to the place and if you sit upstairs be sure to try and grab a seat near the window as it's a great view over the Laines to people watch! It is good value for money too as you can get a large vegan sausage and mayo sandwich with potato wedges and salad for £5, great for a filling lunch. They also do very nice soup and BLT breakfasts too. If you are just popping in for a coffee then this is also a good place to stop as the cakes are delicious and always freshly made. The only thing I would say is on weekends be sure to get there early as it gets packed very fast and you don't want to miss out on the gorgeous food!. read more

A good choice for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free folk, however our food took absolutely ages to arrive, over 30 minutes for some soup which was already hot in a pot behind the counter. The coffee was great, as redroaster always is, but our table was covered in plates from the previous customers, which wasn't cleared until after we'd finished our meal. This would've been fine if there had been somewhere for us to put them out of the way, I don't mind clearing them myself, but there wasn't anywhere. It seems they need an extra member of staff or something is amiss in the running of the place, which is a shame because I think it has the potential to be a great little cafe.
