Mmmmm

Had an amazing sandwich here, proper fillings with lots of stuff packed in with the right combination of flavours. All the food looks homemade but of a high standard. Lots of choice, not just the usual sandwiches and cakes. Had a pot of chilli and nachos that looks to die for! Will definitely go again. Great friendly environment and lively decor

An absolutely fabulous cafe, with some amazingly sized portions which are delicious! The decor is distressed/schoolhouse, not overtaking the function of the place as there's a fair amount of space to sit, eat, read and natter. They also do takeaway for breakfast/lunch/early dinner. The salmon quiche I had was very flavoursome and creamy, with a nice crust (not too crumbly). With two salads (tomato/cucumber and pea/green bean), it came in around £8. There was ample selection for a late-ish lunch on a Saturday, followed by a great cake (from The Real Patisserie - but I'm told they bake the majority of their cakes, tarts, pies etc). If you value quality and flavour, then this is your place.

Goodies on offer

I checked into Cafe Marmalade after dropping my friend off for work at the hospital. If you are near the hospital in Brighton its the perfect cafe to visit as its a peaceful, friendly and well-designed spot with gorgeous goodies. I didn't have the opportunity to sit in but I made up for it with 4 takeaway items. I loved the ham and cheese panini. It was big, toasty and tasty- what more could you ask for? As for their sweets I tried the brownie with white chocolate bits. It was sweet and the ideal balance of crunchy and soft. Then I tried one of their pastries. All in all- the food was spot on and way above average cafe treats. As for my drink, I thought the latte was average. However, despite the average drink the atmosphere and delightful treats did more than make up for it. I would visit this place on the regular if I lived around town.

This little Cafe is marvellous! From the moment you step through the door you're greeted by warm smiles all around! The staff is always in a very good mood and extremely friendly. Whether for having breakfast or lunch everything is delicious! Fresh milkshakes, smoothies, juices with fantastic scones, bread and different marmalade! Every day they offer a huge variety of fresh salads, quiches, sandwiches, pies, tarts for lunch. They also have delicious cake, other sweet pastries and brownies, which are definitely the best brownies in Brighton! And all is home-baked!!! I love this place!!! https://www.facebook.com/marmaladeuk?fref=ts

Review Highlights - Cafe Marmalade

The quiche was creamy and rich but not heavy and the salads (potato and bean) were so full of flavour.

All the food they use is sourced from local suppliers. It was cooked to perfection! I'm a huge meet eater but decided to try the veggie breakfast for the very first time and boy was I impressed! It was delicious full of flavour perfectly cooked eggs, sautéed potatoes delicious grilled tomatoes, mushrooms beautiful fresh chewy white toast etc! My wife was equally impressed with her meat option. All in all a great surprise and start to the day. Check it out!

It's quite small and a bit of a squeeze with a pram, but once in we were seated comfortably in the corner. We ordered at the counter but I think the waitress would have come to us, however she thought we were waiting for more people. I went for eggs benedict while my companion went for the veggie Spanish hash. This was offered as a small or large portion. She went for small but there was plenty of food on the plate, the large must have been humungous! My dish was really tasty but one of the muffins was a bit hard on the bottom, giving the impression it was slightly stale. After our lunch, we both had a hot chocolate and chatted away. It was only when the staff started stacking chairs on tables around us that we realised the cafe had actually closed. However, we never felt pressurised to leave which was really nice. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

The toast was pale as the bacon, the mushrooms were old and rank also dry looking, the sausage was only cooked on two sides and the egg had a raw yolk! There wasn't an extractor so within minutes we were starting to smell of fried bacon, I could see the problem when paying at the counter, bacon was being cooked on a, well, it looked like a George foreman grill with no extractor above it within five feet of me, looking into the kitchen area it was easy to see there was hardly any catering equipment! These guys really need to look at their operation and open their eyes to the quality of the product they are selling to the public. There's a big variety of seating options and I opted to sit in the back room where I enjoyed my drink and book in peace. The women who run the place were very kind. I'd definitely come back to try the food!

Unbelievably awful!…read more We had two baked potatoes tuna and cheese. The potatoes came in soaked in butter from the bottom, the cheese was frozen cold, and the tuna was as chunky as it came from the can they didn't bother to break it down! Neither did they took the effort to warm the cheese !! The salad on the side tasted like eating Mayo from the jar!! We also had a latte. And this is for real!! 2/3 the cup is foam!!! When I removed and I asked for more milk (nicely) the girl who made the coffee took it personally and started trash talking me behind the counter as if I wasn't there. I wanted to return my food after the first bite and leave the place but cause I payed for it I felt bullied to set and digest the uncomfortable situation I was in. Recommendation: stop hiring people because you want to offer jobs and take your business into consideration. You need to hire a new cook and a new barista !! I can see that you take reviews here into action, and the location of your business is on point, and that you're taking a good care of the place. Just a bit effort in hiring and recruiting process and you'll be the next great thing there, especially the competition you have inside the station, plenty of great restaurants and cafes. Good luck!
