After ordering, the bf and I wound up parking our big, bulky selves along a narrow, back counter space in an adjacent, quite small, rectangular room that I'd quickly coined the "laptop library". I think my po-po was almost accidentally backin' up against someone's MacBook Pro. At some point during our stay, I noticed this. So, Mac-dude was either too polite, or too English to tell me to move my goods away from his. Hehe. My perch was directly in front of an open window-ahhhh-so I was able to gaze out at the nearby street and buildings while gulls were crying somewhere off in the distance. The gulls were a very nice touch. What to say about the flat whites? Oh, I don't know. I hate to sound like a "hater", but the bevvies were quite milky with only the slightest hint of espresso to them. Resplendent with fab-o foam art, they looked every bit the part flat white, but didn't really taste like them. What's great about Ground is that the service was spot-on friendly and efficient. I'd be keen on going back and ordering a drip coffee and a snack, and, hopefully, snagging a seat by the window, or, if it's nice out, a seat on the bench out front.

Being a volleyball player myself and an addict I must say, this is a great place to train and play beach. The sand is perfect, there are around 6 courts available, and the staff clearly know their stuff! There' also a lovely cafe/bar to chill out and have snacks, a climbing wall for fitness and an area for children to play with the sand outside of the courts. The venue is also available for some other sports like beach soccer, beach rugby, frisbee, etc... And for volleyball addicts like me you can hire a court to train for as little as £18/hour. I love this place!…read more Great coffee, friendly service, awesome cake. What could go wrong? I have nothing bad to say about this place, so if you're looking for a winging review, this isn't the one for you. The coffee is silky, short and perfectly roasted. You don't need a big cup to feel satisfied that you've got your fix, and the staff have a reassuring and confident presence about them that makes you feel that you're getting the best coffee in town. I had the orange and polenta cake and wasn't disappointed. Moist, citrusy and melt in the mouth, it hit every spot. Great job, I'm here regularly anyway so see you again soon!

The coffee I had was strong and flavoured like none I had ever had before - sharp, but not too bitter. Sweet, but not sickly. Perfection in a cute little white mug (with a tiny little handle). This place is cool, but still comfortable, with only a few seats dotted around the tiny interior. It's simple, but effective and very much has a modern and sophisticated feel about the place. The staff we lovely and friendly - just as I like em - and were happy for my friend and I to sit leisurely with our coffees and chat, which is nice considering their lack of seating (they could be in a hurry for a quick turnover, but they were not pushy at all!). The food looked to die for, but sadly I did not get a chance to sample any of it this time around. I'll be back to try it, and to grab myself another one of their fantastic coffees. Check it out everyone! It's worth it.

I love a good pour over coffee or drip coffee made with flavorful specialty beans. This place has just that! One of the best cups of coffee I've had abroad hands down! Highly recommend, especially for coffee snobs who enjoy a good black cup of coffee with flavor!

Super charming and friendly Tea Rooms in Brighton. The decoration is certainly interesting, quirky…read moreart-deco furniture and kitsch pieces, some of which are for sale (there were two strange armchairs in black and silver with prints of dogs that had price tags hanging from them). There is a furniture showroom in the basement too. Food was very nice, and so was the service. The older lady there seemed to know every single customer there, as she greeted many of them with kisses and hugs, asking how everything was and so on. The place must be good if customers are that loyal, I guess. Prices are also quite good, although I live in London, so I cannot tell with respect to Brighton standars. Teas were slightly more expensive but at least the one I had (peppermint and spearmint, £2.40 per teapot) was really good. Service just a bit slower than I'm used to, but I suppose you don't come to a Tea Rooms like this in a rush. And they were very friendly. I had read before about places in Brighton being dog-friendly, but I didn't quite understand what they meant until I came here. Several of the customers brought their dogs with them, and a couple even got a dog plate full of water for theirs! It was fun seeing the thirsty dog drinking water from a kitsch plate (in the same style of the decoration) under the seats while the owners drank their teas. I've only seen something like that in Austria before, where people were super fond of dogs. To sum up, a lovely place to come if you are in Brighton, and very appreciated by locals as I could see.

The loos are VERY clean and orderly, there is a lot of nice seating and the cafe is very stylish without being ridiculous. Comfortable and sleek. Woods and dark irons, smart folks behind the barrista bar and small sandwich and cake offerings. I called a local bird rescue charity, they said if I could put it in box and bring it to them they will take care of it..... I ran all the way to small batch because I knew they'd be helpful... On this trip, in mid June 2025, we'd promised our American daughter a proper British "Cream Tea"…read more.. Somehow, we didn't expect to find it in Brighton, but this was the perfect place for it! After a long walk from Brighton Marina to the Pier, and a lot of shopping in The Lanes, we were ready for an Afternoon Tea! This Tea Shop is in the heart of "The Lanes", a picturesque location amidst brightly coloured shops, cafes and restaurants, in narrow, winding alleyways that make for a unique shopping area. It was lucky we went in at 4.30pm... They close at 5pm, but we were welcomed in as one of the last guests before they announced they were closed. It also meant we not only got a table, but the place started clearing out before we'd finished, so we ended up being the last customers, which was nice. It's a cute, cozy little tea shop, pretty on the outside and inside, with pictures of Brighton on the walls and an eclectic mixture of teapots, milk jugs and cups. It had been many years since I'd last had a "cream tea" and this didn't disappoint. We ordered some fruit scones and some plain scones (both were yummy but I recommend the fruit ones - the raisins & sultanas are really plump and juicy!). We also tried our scones both ways - cream then jam (the Devon way), and jam then cream (the Cornish way)... I'd been brought up the Devon way, but discovered the Cornish way is actually more to my liking! Both were yummy! We didn't buy any cakes, but the cakes (as well as the scones) are made fresh daily and looked delicious. And I must say, the tea itself was fresh and superior quality - loose leaf English breakfast, rather than bagged, really makes a difference. Our server was very sweet and friendly, and then, at the end, since we were the last customers, the shop owner came out to talk to us, and was super friendly and welcoming... She asked where we were from (always fun, as I'm British, but my husband and daughter are American). Despite it being the end of her day, she didn't rush us out at all, and enjoyed chatting with us. The whole thing was a delightful experience.
