This review relates to Three Angels store that's on Hove Street next to The Ginger Pig. I'm not sure if they've moved location or opened another place...
Either way I'd avoid!
Terrible service and in my opinion the furniture is overpriced. These type of continental imports can be found cheaper and better restored elsewhere. For example close by there is a shop called Dodo near The Forragers pub that is excellent, you'll get greeted with a friendly smile as well, and they delivered to me for free.
As an example of the poor service at Three Angels, against my better judgement I took an antique dining chair in to be repaired before Christmas, because I needed it back urgently by New Years Eve for a dinner. A dowel in one corner was broken and the others were loose. I was told they could repair it by the date required, but couldn't give me a price. As I needed it I agreed to go ahead anyway, and the time and date for collection was put in their diary along with my phone number. I was asked to come back the day before it was required.
I returned on the day as agreed only to find a temporary sign up which showed they had closed the shop a few days after I had left the chair with them, and weren't reopening until some time in January! They didn't even bother to call me.
When they reopened I went back to collect the chair and the lady in the 'shop' couldn't care less that they hadn't done the work as agreed, and frankly she might as well have said 'whatever'. I then tried to pay with my card and was asked to pay in cash instead. I took the chair home and the first time I used it the dowel in the corner gave way, so I took the chair back. I was then told they had only fixed 3 of the 4 corners! They said to leave it with them and they'd fix it for me, but wanted more cash. I was told it would 'only' be another £10-20, so I stupidly agreed because they already had the chair and it would cost that to go elsewhere now. I left my number again, which was put on a tag tied around the chair, and I was told they would call me when it was fixed.
Almost a month later I still had no call, so I went back to shop and found another lady there who was actually polite, and seemed to understand how to treat a customer, but the normal two that seem to run the place weren't there so she couldnt give me the chair. She promised to get them to call me as she agreed the service I had received wasn't good enough and said she would also try and get the extra fee dropped since it was now getting a bit ridiculous given it was March, and I had originally brought the chair in for repair in December!
Of course the next day I didnt get a call so I called them, and was put on the to the repair guy, who I heard in the background say 'oh god'. Then to my amazement he told me he hadnt done it yet! I asked how he could not have done it and he said you only brought it in a few days ago. I said no i brought it in almost a month ago. 'Oh, do we have your number?' he said! I said yes, so what's going on? 'I better pull my finger out and get it done' was his reply. I put the phone down and then after thinking about it for a few seconds I saw sense, and rang back to say Im coming to collect it now, dont do anything to it.
When i went in they had left the chair out, while they were towards the back of the shop as if they were hoping I'd just pick it up and not talk to them. I'm just amazed they think this is a sensible way to treat a local customer if you want to stay in business, but you really get the impression they dont care, and this is why I would avoid this place if I were you. read more
