This is a great place for coffee. Coffee culture from some parts of America, Australia and New Zealand is starting to make its mark on coffee in the UK and Europe... which is great for everyone involved. It's good for the farmers in bean-growing countries (mostly), as many roasters look more toward sustainable relationships with an emphasis on single origin, small-batch varietals - in a way comparable to what some wine makers have been doing for decades. But mostly it's good for people who drink coffee - because you get a place like this pop up in Brighton, where the espresso is proper.

Amazing selection of baked goods. The flapjacks and blondies are delicious.

A small, friendly coffee shop tucked into the edge of North Laine. Definitely the best coffee in Brighton, and slowly getting even better since they started roasting their own beans a few weeks ago. It's the perfect spot to grab a quick coffee and a snack on your way in or out of town, but not really a meeting point for a load of people due to it's size.

A simply lovely and basic place not just for coffee and other great drinks but lunch too! I don't want to say to much else as there's enough people coming and I want to be able to get in in future!

Perfect coffee with the perfect pastry to go with it! I cannot remember the name of the pastry but it contained coconut, dates and apples.

Fantastic coffee with friendly (and cute) barista! Had a piccolo and cappuccino together with a pastry recommended by the barista. The coffee was smooth and silky and perfectly roasted. It was amazing!! Really recommend this place to anyone visiting Brighton(:

    Review Highlights - Coffee @ 33

On my way down Trafalgar Street from the station last Wednesday I skipped by coffee@33 because I thought it looked too trendy to be nice.

Brighton boasts a diverse café culture that caters to the needs of locals and visitors alike from…read morethe waffles to the Wi-Fi. Your Brighton and Hove coffee experience isn't complete until you've visited one (or all!) of the six conveniently placed Small Batch Coffee Company sites dotted around the city. Pop-up pitches greet the commuters at Brighton and at Hove railway station and both areas boast two café's a-piece on busy central thoroughfares. So do take the time to sample some beans from these enterprising Brighton baristas. My local SBCC sits on the corner of Norfolk Square and is a welcome addition to one of the less grand regency squares currently undergoing a transformation. All the sites have a distinctly hip interior that you'd expect from a seriously cool coffee house. Personality can be found in the nod to local attractions, such as the pavilion domes in the shop signage and the beach hut mural on the Norfolk interior. If you're after a speedy verdict, THE COFFEE IS AMAZING. You can now move on. I had a cappuccino that came in a generously sized cup and finished off with a heart motif. The heart did look a bit like an onion, but that's ok. I love onions. The taste was rich and warm and a cut above your regular coffee on the go. The reasonably priced drinks come in at around £2-£3 and the tea is just as lovingly brewed as its flavoursome coffee brother. If you fancy a nibble there is an array of cookies, cakes and hot snacks for between £1.50-£3 that are fresh and tasty. I opted for a slither of brownie. I've been tricked by brownies in the past. It's hard to talk about, but they've been deceptively brown yet distinctly lacking in choccy goodness. I'm happy to report that this sweet treat was moist and rich. Phew. So whether you're a connoisseur or after a quick quench, be sure to stop here and have a cup of the hot stuff.

Lovely spot recommended by a friend. It was too early for a coffee for me so I ended up having a…read morematcha. Excellent matcha flat white, the best I've had I think. Also had some toast which was great but perhaps a tad dehydrated?

On this trip, in mid June 2025, we'd promised our American daughter a proper British "Cream Tea"…read more.. Somehow, we didn't expect to find it in Brighton, but this was the perfect place for it! After a long walk from Brighton Marina to the Pier, and a lot of shopping in The Lanes, we were ready for an Afternoon Tea! This Tea Shop is in the heart of "The Lanes", a picturesque location amidst brightly coloured shops, cafes and restaurants, in narrow, winding alleyways that make for a unique shopping area. It was lucky we went in at 4.30pm... They close at 5pm, but we were welcomed in as one of the last guests before they announced they were closed. It also meant we not only got a table, but the place started clearing out before we'd finished, so we ended up being the last customers, which was nice. It's a cute, cozy little tea shop, pretty on the outside and inside, with pictures of Brighton on the walls and an eclectic mixture of teapots, milk jugs and cups. It had been many years since I'd last had a "cream tea" and this didn't disappoint. We ordered some fruit scones and some plain scones (both were yummy but I recommend the fruit ones - the raisins & sultanas are really plump and juicy!). We also tried our scones both ways - cream then jam (the Devon way), and jam then cream (the Cornish way)... I'd been brought up the Devon way, but discovered the Cornish way is actually more to my liking! Both were yummy! We didn't buy any cakes, but the cakes (as well as the scones) are made fresh daily and looked delicious. And I must say, the tea itself was fresh and superior quality - loose leaf English breakfast, rather than bagged, really makes a difference. Our server was very sweet and friendly, and then, at the end, since we were the last customers, the shop owner came out to talk to us, and was super friendly and welcoming... She asked where we were from (always fun, as I'm British, but my husband and daughter are American). Despite it being the end of her day, she didn't rush us out at all, and enjoyed chatting with us. The whole thing was a delightful experience.

The place was packed on a super hot day in Brighton and the staff kept the place hopping. Enjoyed cucumber sandwiches and the most delicious scones and clotted cream. A true English tea house!
