Did not want to give this even 1 star but my review will not be accepted without a star rating. SO…read moreI TAKE THE STAR BACK! Unreliable, ignorant, untruthful, unhelpful, sloppy, disorganised, money grabbing two bit outfit. This just scratches the surface of what I have experienced with this pathetic excuse for a furniture retailer. If you are prepared to wait forever for your goods these are the goons to call. Ordered furniture with them in February 2011, paid over two grand. Delivered in May 2011. Sounds OK so far BUT the wrong furniture was delivered (their mistake). Promised to reorder and deliver in August 2011. No such luck! Numerous phone calls made - numerous promises that they would chase things up and ring me back - no follow through from them. End of September - still no delivery of the paid for furniture. October brought even more false promises until eventually YES! our furniture had been delivered to Furniture Warehouse and would be delivered week begining 12th October. NO! the furniture has now disappeared in between couriers. Furniture Warehouse don't return our calls, leaving us to chase the couriers. Simple message is DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH THIS JUMPED UP LOW GRADE TRADER! From Elaine Price

However, after that point there have been endless difficulties contacting Furniture Warehouse to get this delivered. There phone numbers were permanently engaged/not answered. I wrote letters which they did not respond to. Thankfully the furniture has finally arrived today (26th November) and is what was ordered but I wouldn't recommend these people - terrible customer service.

You can decide the finish and the colour. There is so much to choose from and it is all very reasonably priced. Take a look in the clearance corner too, you can find some bargains in there. The staff are more then happy to help too

Lincoln Furniture Warehouse is advertised as The Big Yellow Building on St Peter Street and it…read morecertainly is. From the outside it looks like a big yellow warehouse and not very welcoming, but go inside and it is absolutely crammed full of furniture. This doesn't sell your average, run of the mill, furniture, but very nice pieces manufactured in oak, pine and walnut to name a few. They have everything from coffee tables, through dining suites, to bookcases, CD racks and sideboards. Go through to the other side and they also have wardrobes, bed frames, chests of drawers etc. I bought some oak pieces for my lounge and am very impressed with them. They are well made and finished and extremely heavy - nothing flimsy about them. You can choose to have either a waxed finish or lacquer coating on the furniture - depending on which pieces you buy. If you are fortunate enough to find a piece you like in their sale section, lucky you - you can pick up some wonderful things at up to 50% off their normal price. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful and if you don't want to take the furniture away with you, they will deliver it for you very quickly. All in all a fabulous store with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere (once inside that is - not the yellow warehouse look of outside!)

Run by veteran antique dealer Paul Downs and his partner April, SWAG is a stylish and unique…read moreshowroom that displays distinctive pieces of antique furniture. Everything is sourced by the couple themselves and as a result, you'll find old leather arm chairs and 1930s sofas next to stainless steel cabinets, wooden chests, trunks and unusual lights. The quality and originality of the stock means the prices venture towards the expensive. For those with a smaller budget however, there's also a small selection of paintings, decorative letters, statues, world globes and mirrors. Since the couple are so friendly, it's also worth making them an offer if there's something you really want but can't quite stretch to.

However, on closer inspection Swag proves to be a very stylish showroom of the highest quality antique furniture and home furnishings. It is an unusual experience compared with many of Brighton's other secondhand furniture dealers, who generally inhabit musty, cavernous shops, characterised by clutter and chaos. Swag is clean and polished; full of 1930s and 1940s office and home furnishings that would fit perfectly in a Film Noir set. I particularly like the metal desk lamps...they really capture something of another time. Although I personally enjoy the rummaging treasure-hunt aspect of the more casual antique/ junk shops in town, I do admire the experience and precision and with which the owners have sourced their collection. The stock is beautiful, just a little pricey for me! A great place to find striking one-offs if you have money to burn.
