As regular readers will know, I'm a bit of a veggie aficionado: I'm not, but like the food when done well. Wai Kika have certainly got the ticket, offering a wide selection of veggie goodies for reasonable prices, and really filling my veggie food ethos: not replacing the meat, but making new and tasty dishes. As well as that, they offer all the teas (I'm a big tea drinker), and always have a tasty soup or smoothie on offer if I'm in the mood for something lighter. I love it here, and recommend it wholeheartedly. Something about Wai Kika I always find faintly silly: I guess it's probably a combination of the name, the silly cow logo, and the sky blue paint job. On the inside, everything's a little more humble, with lots of wood on the walls and to sit on and behind. Everything which looks a little corporate from the outside is discarded by the pleasant and homely atmosphere within: certainly somewhere I just enjoy sitting and being. The food is also great, normally a collection of veggie classics, with inventive and tasty specials. These are always original, a nice collection of flavours, and go very nicely with the more fruity teas: a rare indulgence on my part, but the perfect combo here. It all just slots into place nicely at Wai Kika, and even the non-veggie's out there should give it a go, just to taste how great veggie food can be when it's done properly!

Vegan Pancakes

We came here for the vegan pancakes and boy we weren't disappointed. We first asked for one their refreshing banana milkshakes, which was just like your typical milkshake but veganised. However, once the pancakes came along. Wow were they delicious. By the third pancake we were stuffed but we sailed on and finally finished the last one with a helping of earl grey tea. The staff were really friendly and atmosphere was very chilled - for a Sunday morning.

One of the many vegetarian restaurants at the North Lane, which is a cute street filled with boutique stores, restaurants, and cafes. The restaurant is quite cozy and simply decorated with some new age type of art work which is kind of a sure sign that you are in a vegetarian restaurant. Each dish on the menu is marked to show whether it is vegan, vegan options, gluten free etc. which is quite considerate. You can get veggie burgers, egg and fake sausages, soup, halloumi etc. kind of your usual suspect of vegetarian dishes. The taste is decent and the portions are quite generous. Definitely a good place for breakfast and lunch.

Wai Kika Moo Kau is a favourite lunching spot of mine. Nestled in the busiest of the North Lanes, Kensington Gardens, it can get packed on any day of the week. There is a nice little outside seating area, but be warned: depending on the time of day, you sometimes feel like you're going to be swept off in to the bustling crowd! Everything about this cafe agrees with me. The name is great- I especially enjoy the infinite possibilities for mispronouncing it. Despite numerous visits, I still find myself getting it wrong! It reminds me of Hawaii too, which is always a pleasant place to bring to mind! The food is vegetarian and delicious. It's the kind of vegetarian food that makes vegetarianism finally seem acceptable to the meat-eating world: substantial, hearty food that uses yummy fresh ingredients that really fill you up! I took a meat-eating friend who professed to being scared of tofu (I know, get a grip!)...he tried my tofu burger and was a changed man! Everything is done with a twist at Wai Kika, meaning I have never been bored by my food. The veggie bangers and mash with onion gravy is delicious and I'm sure I once had it served to me in a giant yorkshire pudding (my favourite!), though it hasn't happened again :( The cafe is also great for breakfast and the milkshakes and juices are definitely worth investigating. The place isn't the cheapest in town, but the food is worth every penny!

Really great spot for healthier salads with copious options. I stopped in for lunch one day, and…read moregot their 1 main + 3 salads (£11.50 for eat in, £10.50 for take away). They had about 10 salads to choose from, most of which were vegan, and a bunch of mains, two of which were vegan. For the main, I got a decadent butter bean dish that was wonderfully flavoured, albeit quite oily. The salads were all quite intensely flavoured too, with a broccoli salad that had a nicely horseradish-dominant dressing, a tomato and bell pepper salad that was nicely dressed, and roasted sweet potatoes. Very filling and good value. I was really happy with the food. I capped off the meal with an American (£2.40), which was definitely above average for UK -- seems like the place is run by Italians, so that might be it. Super friendly and helpful staff who kindly pointed out everything that was vegan. All in all, highly recommended spot near the centre and beach.

Fresh, fast and tasty! This quiet and cosy restaurant had super lovely staff, and the food was just fantastic. Great little spot for lunch on North Street.

How I missed the Cheesus Pizza. Such a good restaurant, if…read moreyou are vegan, it can be called "The Green Paradise". Pizzas are tasty, everybody is nice, very welcoming with you. They are ready to speak about each ingredients if you don't know them, they even answered to questions about a specific product, and how lovely this is. Even if you love meat, just try this magical place to understand how it could taste when we won't have anymore meat on earth, it'll educate you about that. There is a slightly negative point, about prices. It's very hard to take a starter for more than £5 when you know that you'll spend £16 for a pizza and £4 for a coke. Even if it's delicious, maybe it could reviewed. Plus, you are susceptible to pay a percentage depends of the service (it's written on the menu so not a big deal). Anyway, thanks to Purezza to grow like a wonderful plant, and to open in a lot of different places.

The food at Purezza is very very good. At the two locations I've visited (Manchester and Brighton),…read morethe flavours and ingredients were superb. At Brighton specifically, I had the pesto pizza (with added pepperoni) and the caesar salad. My partner and I split both, which was a good amount of food for two people. Both of us we were very satisfied. One detractor for Brighton, at least on the night we went, was that a huge portion of the menu was unavailable. The server basically had to go down a laundry list of menu items that they couldn't serve, which even included most alcoholic drinks. While I'm glad we warned up front, and we still enjoyed what we had, it was disappointing and seemed a little strange. Also, I will say that between the two, the Brighton location's space was a little lacklustre. Still, I would recommend Purezza as a solid pizza option and worth checking out.
