Anyone and everyone in Brighton and Hove should be careful of these people. When I first called…read morethese people I was met with a lovely person although when I started to explain the problems they immediatly got very defensive and blamed it on the fact that this was the first time I ordered which was nearly £40. I have no problem with the price if the food is worth it, although nothing about this entire experience has been worth it I understand that this was the first time I ordered although such massive problems cant have just only happened to me. The wontons were so small with meat I thought they had made a mistake and only put in the crispy bits. I was told that this is the way they do it. The containers were some of the smallest I have ever seen and were not even filled. One of the containers (which was at the bottom of the bag) had a corner broken off of it and was blamed on delivery, although when I explained it was at the bottom of the bag and there was no broken plastic anywhere I was informed it was still the delivery drivers fault (who was on a moped, which is understandable if there was eveidence of the broken piece)......... Does this mean that the delivery drivery driver picked out the broken piece or that the person who handled my food container was so careless that they didnt even realise????? There was no display of the fact that I would get dipping sauce with my won tons so I ordered a sauce (£2.50) and when my order came there was a sauce already with it, fine thats not a problem, in fact thats a good thing I get free sauce with my won tons, although maybe a side note when im ordering it wouldve been good so I knew that there was already sauce with it so i didnt have to buy sauce for no reason. Included is a few pictures I took to show the appaling quality to which I recieved.

Extensive menu where it's an all you can eat buffet type restaurant, however unlike Days etc the food is brought to your table. Have been several times with varying party sizes and the portions always seem to be spot on! If there are two of you and you order let's say prawn toast you get a slice each, if there are 3 of you there is a 3rd so there is none of this I will have 2 and you 1. The food is fresh and the quality is good, if this was in central Brighton then it would be a lot more expensive than the price you pay in Hove/Portslade. Sometimes the service can be a bit pushy but other times it can be a bit slow. Overall though this is my go to place for Asian cuisine.

The food is of extremely good quality and the staff are absolutely wonderful. I have never had a bad dish here and frequently return to sample different dishes off the menu each time. Another added bonus is that they have a loyalty card that is extremely generous. Every fifth meal you get a meal free! You really cannot complain with that. Also, the food is very cheap - all you can eat of three courses of delicious and fresh food for just a mere £15.95. They also put on an Elvis night on every so often that you pay an extra few pounds for so that you can be entertained by Elvis all night! I would highly recommend this restaurant. It really is one of my favourites!

If you decide on the latter then a good place to go would be Gekko, especially because it's designed for the indecisive folk like me. Serving Thai, Malaysian, Chinese, Texmex, sushi, pizza, pasta and soups, there's something for everyone in this all-you-can-eat diner. During the day its just £6.99 a head and in the evening the menu is extended to £12.99 with additions of noodles, stir-fry, tandoor and chargrill Indian. Considering this place is a buffet venue, I think the decor is quite tasteful with stripped flooring and high-backed chairs, making it feel much more like a restaurant than most. The food, too, considering there is an abundance of different cuisines, also isn't that bad. Dishes like Mee Goring and chicken fajitas aren't often found on the same menu in buffet halls. Desserts aren't just a yoghurt or a piece of fruit either. There's cakes, muffins, pastries and even a creperie. For the genre it's in, it isn't bad at all. Perhaps I haven't been to enough to judge.

It may even just be a name-change: I can't see any difference, not that this is all a bad thing. This is still the Asian greasy spoon, the Far East equivalent to a fry-up, and every now and again this is exactly what you need. However, as buffet places in town go, Gekko isn't quite as nice as some of the others... nice being a pejorative term here. The food is, as expected, a grease factory. Unlike some of the other buffet places, it actually looks a bit rank: maybe the slightly yellow lighting was a bad idea. As well, the choice here is a little limited: the buffet being big, but not as packed with different flavours as some of the other places around town. The decor is also rubbish: the worst kind of Asian modernity, so often done in places like this, and always tacky and awful. It almost goes with the territory, but the crowd here is also particularly rubbish: the West Street clientele do not look their best when choking down a plate of noodles. No, there are better buffets, not much but still slightly... go there instead.

If you find yourself searching for somewhere to eat on a Friday night having heard your mate say,…read more"I fancy an Indian" you could do a lot worse than Ganges Brasserie in Hove. Their massive selection of dishes means there's something for everyone, so whether you're a spice freak or a meak 'n' mild kind of person Ganges will cater for you (if you're really boring you can even order chicken and chips but I wouldn't recommend it.) The highlight of the menu is the Ganges Specials section, which ranges in price from £9.95 to £13.95. From this I usually order the Chilli Chicken Massalla or the Lamb Passanda and as of yet I haven't been disappointed. However, the menu can leave the inexperienced feeling a little indecisive, as the range of options can seem somewhat overwhelming. I'd recommend going there with an idea of the kind of dishes you like, that way you can always ask the friendly staff for comparisons. The Sunday buffet is great for those of a hungry disposition as you can tuck in to as much as you like for just £7.95 but whether or not you go for this, Ganges is always sure to leave you with a lasting feeling of fullness. Top notch!

Had a very odd meal here for a friends birthday recently- sadly not a success!…read more I didnt go for the all you can eat buffet (i'm never going to eat £15.80 worth of sushi) but off the main menu instead- beef ramen contained few vegetables and a LOT of seaweed- and about 3 pieces of beef. Stir fried veg was tasty but underwhelming. But the buffet menu my friends went for was made difficult!! Theres a constant review of the menu as the names of the dishes on the sheet you order it on dont describe what it is! So your constantly searching and comparing menus to make sure what you order is on the approved buffet list. What happens when you dont? Well some have supplments or are in red so cost more, my poor friends accidently paid nearly an extra £5 for one dish as more £'s on others where they hadnt realised red meant extra! Service is slow and inconsistent. It was very busy but Friday nights are busy everywhere so no excuse!! Sorry sushimania-you left us very disappointed and still a bit hungry!!

Oh Sushimania...I had such high hopes!…read more Last night I ordered from the Brighton branch of Sushiamania, using their website to order and opting to collect from the restaurant once my food was ready. The selection on their website is vast and the prices very reasonable and the website is very easy to navigate, which is always a plus! When I went in to collect my order the staff were extremely friendly! Once they knew which order I was there for they were very quick to get it for me and the man was very polite and even used my name several times when we spoke. I went for two sushi rolls (spicy tuna and salmon with a Teriyaki sauce) and some chicken dumplings. First of all, this was way too much for one person - they even put two sets of chopsticks in my take-away bag, embarrassingly! :P One roll and the dumplings would be plenty for an individual. The dumplings were delicious! Crispy, but still soft enough, and the sauce they came with was delightful. The sushi rolls, on the other hand, left me a little underwhelmed. The tuna roll appeared to have cooked tuna in it - reminiscent of that from a can - and both rolls lacked a little flavour, in my opinion. They looked wonderful and came with complimentary ginger, wasabi and a big pot of soy sauce, but unfortunately the taste didn't match the presentation for me. I am hopeful that I simply made the wrong food choices here. The service was outstanding and, as far as take-aways go, the prices were very good here. I was hoping this could be the great Brighton sushi place that I've been searching for, but unfortunately I am left unsure. I will go back to this place, as always, and give it a second chance. The interior of the restaurant looked beautiful and I know they do some great in-house deals, so perhaps my next visit will be a sit-in experience, rather than a take-away. Give this place a shot, but avoid the tuna if you're going to be unhappy without the usual raw fish.

The staff are good, food is fresh (usually - the rice can dry out if it's not busy) and it isn't greasy, fatty or bland. The only downer is that the dishes do lack distinct flavours, and do tend to merge into each other - it's a bit of a shame they couldn't have been more inventive considering this place is quite unique in serving a veggie only menu. All in all though, the cosiness and satisfyingness of the place/food means it's pretty darn good for the price. Oooh, just checked the website - apparently the buffet is just £3.50 between 3.15 and 5.15 mon-fri - amazing!
