This was a small studio apartment move. They were careful while loading and tying everything down. I rented the 2 guys for 2 hours. This was the first time I ever used movers to load and unload a truck. I always did moves myself. The movers who unloaded the truck in Minnesota were done in an hour and 20 minutes. $250 was the charge and I tipped them another $100 because they were so professional and friendly. Exactly 3 minutes after the two hours at 12:03 John called me. The way he started out I thought he must have been sitting there staring at the clock because his first words to me were, are the guys finished loading. I replied they are standing right here. They have three small pieces ready to go on the truck. His immediate, and I mean immediate response was, well I don't do increments of minutes or quarter hours so if you don't want to pay $130 for them to load those pieces tell them to stop. Being in upper management most of my working life I would have never began the conversation in this manner. I'm 72, I knew how to get myself or my company recommended by others. I told the guys to stop loading, I will finish this myself. John heard me tell them this because I had him on speaker. I wanted John to hear me tell the guys I don't want to get you guys in trouble, I'll finish up myself. John started to say something after I told the guys I'd finish up myself, but I hung up rather than continue listening to him. Had I thought about it I would have gotten the phone numbers of the two Arlington men who loaded up the truck and told them when I hear of one of my daughter's friends moving, or one of the people I know, I will call you and tell you I have a person who wants to deal with you guys but not John. Do it on your own personal time. Start your own business. This is how the guys who unloaded the truck in Minnesota got started. They've been doing it 12 years and I can see why as they unloaded the truck. This is never about money with me. I tipped the Minnesota guys $100 and I had no problem paying the $250 for an hour and 20 minutes it took them to unload. I could have used them 40 more minutes and had them unwrap everything and set everything up, but we wanted to do that. It wasn't what John said to me, it was how he said it, then tell the guys to stop, as if that was supposed to make me say oh no, please, don't stop, I'll pay the $130. It's a person's choice how they wants to run their business, however, this is not how you get a recommendation when you start the conversation in this manner. You can use the exact same words used on me but by using a different tone it will not cause the the customer to say, I'll finish it up myself. I'm giving 5 stars to the two moving loaders who were so professional.

Paris & the Alston Moving crew are great & a joy to work with!…read more After a different moving company damaged our possessions in a cross-country move, we hired Alston Moving to help document the damage for insurance & sort out the mess - a BIG job. We've been working with this crew once or twice a week for months & are SO grateful for their help. Paris is the foreman. He insists each item be wrapped & packed correctly. He's kind & fair to his crew, especially when training younger crew. Quotes for hourly work are very fair. The crew works until the job is done - even when it's freezing cold or blistering hot. Paris & his crew are also extremely honest. One found a bank envelope (with a couple hundred dollars in it) on the garage floor. At the time, I was surrounded by broken furniture & smashed boxes in a rain storm. It would have been easy for that crew member to pocket the cash without anyone noticing. Instead, he handed it in to Paris, who gave it to me. These are good people! If you need some handyman work done, this crew is up for it. Don't expect union-trained specialty construction guys! But they'll happily install that door handle or retractable dog gate. One of their crew usually has the tools needed (nail gun, power saw, etc.) for small construction fixes. Just let Paris know what you need done in advance. Highly recommended!!

It was a long interstate move, from Virginia to Texas, and we weren't sure which service to pick, but Dylan on the the phone call gave us a great price and assurance that everything will go smoothly. I took the leap of faith. On the day of the move, we had all our boxes ready, Dylan and his colleague started packing them with the tape and other items like TV, chairs with blankets. I was worried if everything will be delivered in one piece or no, but to my surprise Dylan got everything in 2 days safely. They usually do all the packing, loading and unloading, but it's always recommended to clear everything on the phone call before signing up and paying the deposit. I highly recommend Dylan's movers to folks moving within Virginia or interstate. He would give you a great great service plus he's great to talk to.

By the time the 3rd mover arrived and they finished eating, it was 3pm and this was not ideal since the move happened in January when it'd get dark by 6pm. I also was accurate with all the items that I had except I underestimated the number of boxes by 10. All the furniture was accounted for. They brought a small truck and could not fit everything in one go so they had to make two trips, lengthening the total time of moving. Despite the late start time and the extra two hours of moving, the movers were fast and efficient AND didn't break or damage anything. During the communications, Dylan/Mubina were very responsive. Overall, I'd go with them again.
