When researching a unique office Christmas party, a co-worker mentioned looking into a Brew Bus. I found Indy Brew Bus through Yelp and thought I'd check out there packages. During the Holiday season they offer a wonderful tour "Lights at the Brickyard Brewery Tour". After emailing with Andy and John about pricing, we secured 2 buses for a private event. When I had questions about the event, Andy and John were super fast and emailing me a response. The day of the event, I got a text in the afternoon with the drivers info in case I needed anything and confirming the departure time. 10 mins before departure, I got a text that the buses had arrived downstairs and everyone headed downstairs. The Drivers Andy & Todd met us in the lobby and gave us a quick rundown of the nights schedule, gave us a sticker and loaded up the buses. First Stop was Traders Brewing Company which was just a few miles from our pick up point. Andy took the lead and introduced us to the brewery and explained the process of brewing and answered questions. We were offer 2 samples, pre-poured, but were given the option of sampling anything we liked. Andy and Todd both milled around and were talking to individuals and groups about how they were liking the beer and making sure everyone was having a great time. Several people were impressed and mentioned swinging by at another time after work. After about 35 mins we were given a 10 min heads up for departure/bathroom/purchase for the road. Next Stop was Wabash Brewing. This brewery was hoppin. We arrived and we immediately headed to the bar to try their brews. Live Music was playing and we even got to play some shuffleboard in a round robin fashion. Although the brewery was packed we had a great time trying unusual beer combos, a new band and new friends. Last stop for the night would be at the Speedway for the Lights at the Brickyard. A speedy pass came with the tour booking so we were able to enter the grounds through a special gate and not have to sit in a line of cars. The lights were enjoyable and the fact that we could bring snacks was a godsend. After the driven tour, we were able to have the experience of entering the Pagoda and seeing the lights/indy skyline from the 8th floor. While Todd stayed with the buses, Andy joined us and was available to take pictures and show us where the non busy bathrooms were. (GODSEND). All in all, I would highly recommend the Indy Brew Bus for a unique gathering. Andy mentioned that the tours usually include 1 Large Brewery as well as a Smaller (Lesser Known) Brewery to show differences. Since our pick up was on the Northwest Side, the breweries were chosen based on our location. I can't thank Andy and Todd for making our party a great success. What a wonderful way to spend our Friday evening! My coworkers and I, along with our significant others, had a fun time exploring four of Indy's breweries. We went to Roundtown, Flat12, Fountain Square and Indiana City. I enjoyed all of them! Didn't even know a few of them existed. Did you know Indianapolis has 50 breweries?! Crazy. We spent about 30 minutes at each place. We were able to try multiple samples which was included in our tour fee. My favorite location was Fountain Square brewery but Flat12 had my favorite beer of the night. I'd recommend Indy brew bus to anyone. It's a nice change of pace from just going to our regular bars. read more

Fun times with fun people. Have you seen the short, bright green buses around town that says "Indy Brew Bus"? You can choose an excursion based on starting area and check out four different breweries. Yes, the bus is no frills (we saw other buses that looked a bit more swanky), but at $30 a trip, it is well worth it. Also, it is locally owned and operated and was the first brew bus in Indy. Support local! We did the Broad Ripple bus, which hit Bier Brewery and Tap Room, Indiana City Brewing Co. Metazoa Brewing Company, and Centerpoint Brewery. The bus basically goes to the furthest brewery and works its way back, so if the first and second legs of the trip seem long, don't worry, it gets shorter as you move onwards. You can see my reviews for the actual breweries on their Yelp pages. 35 minutes at each brewery is a little short. It worked pretty well if there wasn't a line to get beer, but at Metazoa, since it was busy with regular patrons, we basically got our beer and then had to shoot it, because it was time to leave. You can bring beer back on the bus with you, but we got a flight (can't take the glass flight glasses) and we didn't want to take the time to transfer it to plastic cups. Most of the time I ended up drinking part of my beer at the brewery and then the rest on the bus going to the next brewery. I noticed a lot of other people were doing this too. Just a heads up, four beers in three hours plus samples may not seem like a lot, but it was enough to get us pretty buzzed (and by pretty buzzed one of my friends says she hasn't been that drunk in a while). I sat out drinking at one brewery, which saved me. My favorite brewery just in terms of experience was Metazoa. I was predisposed not to like the place, because I'm not a fan of dogs - I'm a monster, I know - but they really made our day when they had us play flip cup. I've never seen a group of adults be more excited to relive their college days (no judgment, I loved it too). Our bus driver was fantastic. Being three beers deep I expressed my frustration to him at Metazoa that we were rushed to drink our beers. He gave us ten more minutes at the fourth stop after that. He seriously didn't have to do that, but I'm really glad he did. This was such a fun way to experience part of the Indy brewery scene. I would highly recommend it. read more

I can confidently say the Indy Brew Bus is a must-do for groups. We traveled to Indy from Louisville, KY for a bachelorette party and this tour was the highlight for me. Dan was such an engaging driver and genuinely seemed excited to host us. He gave great recommendations too! CAMERON IS THE MAN! We had the best driver, and a great group of randoms on our bus. We got off to a slightly late start due to a few people being held up, but Cameron made up the time and we never felt pressured to leave one place to get to the next. The website says 2-3 samples at each place included, but honestly most of the bars let us sample everything. The only one that had a hard and fast approach with tickets was Flat12. It's great that the bus also provides coolers so you can store your growlers and bullets while you keep drinking. Looking for a fun time while checking out some of Indy's finest breweries? Look no further. 12 of us decided to rent the bus out for a friend's birthday and I couldn't be happier with our choice. We began our Brew Tour experience in Broad Ripple at Bier Brewery. We then went to Ash & Elm, Indiana City's and ended at New Day in Fountain Square. Each brewery had different samples waiting for us when we arrived, and the group was were able to spend about 30 minutes or so at each one. I would highly suggest trying all the samples just to see what you like! Our driver Fitz was super friendly, knowledgable on craft beer and was very patience with us the entire way! (trust me, we were a handful, especially near the end!). I'd certainly suggest bringing growlers, or bullets to fill up at each brewery. But overall, it was just a great experience that we are all looking to do again sometime soon!! read more

What's better than belting out Livin' on a Prayer while cruising the dark streets of Indy, belly full of beer, in a neon green bus full of new friends? We started the tour at Sun King Brewery. Tastings galore! I loved getting to try the new seasonal beers as well as revisit old favorites. Next, we ventured to Flat 12 just a little east of downtown. This was my first visit to this brewery and I fell in love. The pumpkin spice was nothing short of incredible. I couldn't help but purchase a couple of growler. BONUS: Andy has fully equipped his Slimer colored bus with a cooler to keep your growlers delicious and crispy cool. Such a great perk as I didn't have to worry about my little beer babies being uncomfortable while I was doing tastings and tours at the last brewery, Fountain Square Brewery. Overall, a great outing for 'out of towners' or 'townies' who love experiencing the micro brewery culture of Indy and meeting new people. Took a brew bus on a downtown tour with Elvis on a Sunday in December - so much fun and an absolutely great tour! The tour was about 3.5 hours and we stopped at 4 breweries. There were only 6 in our group - and the bus seats 14-16 - so we were in a smaller-than-normal group We were able to spend 30 minutes at each brewery: -Flat 12 -Deviate -Outliers -Two Deep Each brewery had different offerings and different atmospheres - so an awesome tour that had something for everybody. There was a cooler with bottled water, cooler for guests to store growlers they bought at the breweries, and to-go beers were allowed in the bus ride. Awesome experience! Only $30 to be driven around and given free beer! How great! So, tip: Book your seats ahead of time! We ended up waiting until last minute and there were no seats left. :( Luckily, we emailed Andy at about 10:30 am on Saturday morning and he ended up having a cancellation and got us in. (How awesome is that?) - He was such a great help!! So we did the Saturday 12 pm downtown trip. - We met the bus at Flat 12, and drove to Bier Brewery, Sun King, and Fountain Square. You were allowed to bring drinks on the bus (as long as they were closed coming out the door of the bar) - and they supplied cups and ice! After almost nine years of marriage, you tend to look beyond the candy hearts and chocolates when it comes to Valentine's Day. On this specific V-Day, I suggested something different for my husband and another couple. I had heard about Indy Brew Bus before and made it my mission to experience it this year. For $30 per person, you receive a 3.5 hour brewery tour around Indianapolis visiting up to 4 breweries that provide 2-3 samples of different brews at each stop. One stop even gave us up to 5 samples (thank you Deviate!). The stops rotate all the time, so you really never know which ones you might go to, but for this specific tour, we chose a Sunday afternoon which was 1-4pm with a pick-up location downtown. We traveled to 4 breweries: Flat 12 Bierworks, Deviate Brewing, Bier Brewery, and Indiana City. Our driver, Todd, gave us his spiel in regards to purchases made within the breweries, how much time we had at each stop, answered any questions we had, and provided a fun atmosphere by blaring old school hip hop (Salt-N-Pepa anyone?). We didn't have a full bus which was nice because we ended up befriending everyone and the whole group got out at the same stop at the end of the tour for a meal at Yard House. Top tips: -You have about 35 minutes at each stop (spend your time wisely) -You receive 2-3 free samples at each brewery -Try all the samples...even if you don't think you'll like it. You never know what you'll like from brewery to brewery. -Food is scarce. There was only one stop (Flat 12) that had sandwiches for purchase, but there are snacks such as pretzels, etc. at others. -Bathrooms are available at each stop (go even if you don't have to, because you will be stuck on a bus!) -Any purchases made at the breweries can be taken onto the bus, but purchased drinks will need to be transferred into plastic cups) -Growlers are available for purchase at each brewery and there are coolers on the bus to keep them cold -Bottled water is available on the bus for everyone (pace yourself) -For the downtown tour, there is a map on their website that will show you exactly where they can pick you up. We chose a business on Pennsylvania because of easy access to parking and they picked us up there -Todd, our driver, sent me a text letting me know that he would be picking our group up at a specific time and confirmed the pick-up location (nice touch, great service!) -We did have one person in our group that didn't care for beer, but asked at each location for alternatives. Some places might have wine and/or hard cider. It's worth an ask if you aren't a beer person, but you want to go along for the experience. -Tip your driver. Todd was wonderful. He gave us the space we wanted at each stop, gave us a 10 minute salute when it was almost time to leave, and he drove in a friggin snowstorm to get us to all the stops. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone looking to have a fun experience. We were given samples at all of the stops with the option to purchase flights or pints. As others have mentioned, be sure to eat prior to your trip because food options are very limited at each stop. My husband and I took the Downtown tour Friday night. Happened upon a fun group of people as our companions for the night. Our tour bus driver Bob was excellent! Every bit the chauffeur and beer consultant! We stopped at Sun King, Centerpoint, Deviate, and TwoDeep. A quick rating of each: Sun King had a take it or leave it vibe. Beers were average. Center point had an excellent manager named Amanda, who kindly toured us inside the brewery. Beers were above average. Deviate very unique/cool beer offerings, and held true to their name. 8 selections all hovering around 8-10 ABV! TwoDeep had great customer service decent beer choice, and great guest taps. This was fun! Had a chance to sample a nice selection of beers, and even bring home a growler. The excursion is fairly well planned -- about 30 mins at each stop, with some flexibility. I wish they had a better way to handle the fact that the tours are over the dinner hour, though. There really isn't much opportunity for eating, especially if you have special dietary needs. If you're lucky, there will be a food truck at one or two stops. And hopefully they have something you want to eat! So plan for this. Maybe eat a light supper beforehand, and then plan to go out for a bite afterward. It's too bad this isn't made clear on their website. I'm accustomed to breweries that are also restaurants, so this caught me off guard. Our driver was friendly but his commentary was often offensive and quite crude. Went for my birthday and it was a great experience. Being a local beer enthusiast, I was pleasantly surprised to visit two breweries I had never been to. My only complaint is that at least one of the breweries didn't include any free tastes, and I would like to have a few free tastes before ordering, and there was really short time to drink the volume of beer in the taster for purchase. If you think you'll get hungry during the course of the tour based on timing, be sure to get something ahead of time or bring something with you because there wasn't food at the breweries and not even really enough time to eat it. What a great trip we had today!! I would definitely recommend the Indy Brew Bus. Our driver, Bob, was great and explained each brewery to us. We went to Two Deep, Sun King, Bier and Indy City. All were amazing with a great selection of beers!! My only criticism is that I think it would be beneficial to just do 3 breweries instead of 4. At each brewery, you are only given about 35 minutes to enjoy the samples or a pint. I feel like if it was just 3 breweries, you would have almost an hour at each. I feel like this would work for most people, as 3 breweries is perfect! All in all, this was a great experience. My family and I truly enjoyed our afternoon on Indy Brew Bus. This brew bus was so much fun! We did this brewery tour for my sister's bachelorette party. We visited 4 breweries (I don't remember the names). The samples were small, but you can usually buy a smaller beer pour and drink it after the samples or share with your friends :). You can also bring a growler & fill it up to bring on bus. When I heard of Indy Brew Bus, I couldn't wait to take a beer tour. I booked a tour, and I will admit it, I made a mistake and booked for the wrong week. That was my bad. So I can put the hour of standing outside in the cold waiting for the bus on me, but the way that the person I had contact with in not my fault. At the time there was no clear phone number listed, (this may have changed) so I emailed the company. The town of the correspondents was rude to say the least. I was told in detail how I made them late, that they had called me numerous times and they had left several voice mails. This was followed by how I should have played closer attention to the invoice I was sent. I checked my phone records for that day, I have no phone calls from any phone number I did not know, and there were no voice mails left from day. Would it have been too much trouble to send me an email earlier saying that I had missed my tour, and that the tickets where nonrefundable? It would have sucked for me, but I could have gotten over it. read more

I had a great time on the Indy Brew Bus! I had time to kill while in town with my wife for a conference so I thought there would be no better way then to get carted around to several great local breweries. First off our tour guide was great. Stewie (errr, Rex) was funny, informative and just plain engaging that it really brought the mixed group of attendees together. We stopped at Flat 12 (large # of great beers to taste), Bier Brewery (traditional Belgian and other styles...my favorite I the day), Indiana City (small but great selection...breakfast stout was killer) and finally Fountain Square (very busy but great service with a decent selection at a really great barrel aged IPA). In he end I think this is a great tour and a great value for the $$! read more

Guess I should've read the tour details a little more, but this was the first beer tour I have ever been on that didn't show us any of the brewing process or actual brewery itself. This felt like a glorified uber driver that we paid $30 a piece to take us around to four breweries with very minimal samples of beer. An explanation more of the brewing process (do they also can, how do they can, do they bottle, distribute, what is fermenting in this device etc..) would have been insightful and fun. I can not in good conscience recommend this as an actual "brewery" tour for future guests. read more
