I wanted the typical naked newborn pictures with her in baskets and stuff, but our daughter was not cooperating so Shauna had to be creative to get some of the shots we wanted. She was very patient the entire time. We never felt like she rushed the shoot. We were really happy with the photos. Shauna was able to capture some great moments between us and the baby as well as gorgeous shots of just her -- her little features and the precious faces they make at this age. Outside of the photo shoot itself, Shauna has been a easy to work with -- very responsive and accommodating. I priced out a few other photographers in the area and found her "sitting" fee to be very reasonable and her photo/cd fees to be competitive. I would absolutely recommend Stinkiepants for newborn photos!

From what I've seen so far, I love all of her photos. Also, when we were doing photos with young children in the family it was clear that she really knows how to make babies and young children smile for the camera! We don't yet have children, but if/when we do, we know who to call for our baby and children photography in the San Francisco Bay Area. We loved working with Shauna and we would definitely recommend her to a friend or family member in the future!

October is Filipino-American Heritage Month…read more I didn't know this place even existed until I started walking to Wifey's work on California St. from downtown to Presidio Heights for my exercise. During my walk, I would take photos of the beautiful Victorian houses along the way and this particular house stood out due to the sign on top of the door that reads: Filipino Community Of San Francisco, with the symbol of the sun from the Philippine flag used in lieu of the letter "O" from of. I tried googling the place and nothing came up, and not much information was found. So I decided to add the business on Yelp and edit it later without even thinking the importance of it. A couple of months later, my uncle, who was living in Canada, passed away and most of the relatives (including his siblings) were unable to make the trip up north for the funeral. My cousin, who is very active in the Filipino community in San Francisco, sent an invite for his remembrance at this address. At that time, I didn't put the two together until we physically arrived here and instantly recognized it as the house I kept stopping by to admire during my many walks. Once I stepped inside, there were photos on the wall from founding members to current members. And....most of them are my uncles, aunts and relatives. How that heck did they not even mention this to us? All this time I passed by this place, I had a deep connection to it without even knowing the historical content, family ties and significance of it. After the service, I decided to learn more about this place and started talking to the elders and care-takers. Founded in 1939, this house was established to help the Filipino Community during the early days to help the "Manongs and Manangs" (respectful way of saying older sibling) establish themselves and function as a support group. You have to pay a one-time initial fee, but you are a member for life that comes with many perks and benefits. One of these benefits is that every member contributes to a fund if someone passes on. I got a tour of the house and most of the rooms are used as boarding houses for students, but the basement level primarily doubles as an event space. But the real gem was getting to know the people who have kept this going for as long as they have without much outside support. Everything is from the members, whose memberships have declined throughout the years as they have aged and the subsequent generations have opted not to join....or were never informed of such a group existed in the first place. I shudder to think that maybe our elders were hiding something from us like secret parties or some hanky-panky that went on behind close doors. Of course I'm kidding, but looking at those pictures of my relatives made me think otherwise. But talking to the elders made me realize that the second, third and subsequent generations have to keep this alive as the Filipino Community has been vital in the San Francisco, Bay Area, California and the United States of America. We have played and contributed to the success of this nation and this story must be told loud and clear....especially in these trying times when someone wants to divide us rather than unite. We are a part of the diverse fabric that is intertwined and holds this nation together, and we must continue to celebrate our heritage while working collectively with other groups and ethnicities from different races and backgrounds to steer this nation that cares for other people, and not vilify them. That is the basic nature of what I was taught of being a Filipino. Now, when does my secret ceremony start?

I attended many parties at that Building growing up. I can remember there were dances down in that hall when they had Miss Filipino Community Queen Contests. They even had those contests for little kids. I know cuz I was crowned queen during that time & one of my gifts was life membership!?! I recently met up with the queen who was the year after me. I'm wondering if the Association is still active. Most of my family from those years were members. If you have any more information pictures on the place, please post them.

You must hire Doug for event planning!!! Doug planned our rehearsal dinner and wedding in Kingston,…read moreNew York this past summer and I couldn't recommend him more highly. The first thing we did when we started planning our wedding was bring Doug on board, and it was the best decision we could have made. Throughout the year and a half process he was attentive, creative, professional, and most of all, a joy to work with. We felt supported every step of the way, and were absolutely thrilled with the end result. I wanted to highlight a few aspects of working with Doug that we were blown away by in particular. Vendors: Doug drew from his extensive experience in the industry to recommend and secure amazing vendors in Upstate New York - he introduced us to Hudson Valley Letterpress for invites, Hops Petunia for florals, Fig & Pig for catering, Madre for linens, Karen Obrist for photography, and more. He has impeccable taste and great relationships, and made the experience of working with each of them absolutely seamless. Design: My husband and I didn't have a clear vision for how we wanted our wedding to look. Doug spent time getting to know us and came up with an incredible upscale picnic concept that we loved, and he then executed to perfection. Doug is so creative, and came up with unique elements for all of our events that made them memorable and beautiful. Each event was stunning and elevated. Execution: We didn't have to worry about a thing the weekend of our wedding - Doug made sure that all of our events ran smoothly, managed vendor communications, wrangled guests, and a million other things that I'm sure we weren't even aware of, but knew they were taken care of.

Amanda and her crew are amazing. I have very high expectations, and they exceeded each and every one. I had a specific theme that I wanted to do and they helped us execute it flawlessly. They helped with everything - picking the venue, selecting colors and decor, customizing the menu and drinks, and helped work with our tight budget given the down economy. My coworkers raved about the sumptuous food and how beautifully everything was presented. What they didn't know was the extra mile that Amanda and her staff had gone to in order to provide us with the extras we needed for the event and all the last minute changes that occurred. Nevertheless, disaster struck when she played a much early version poor quality of the video without the full day of editing I did with the head of the organization into the early morning hours. This affects the fund raiser as it was taylored with text just for this crowd, instead projected a low resolution rough cut version! I have sustained damages. It would have been nice if she was professional and read the emails and deleted the draft version from her computer. Now I wonder if she even read my emails and downloaded the final? She would known that was the wrong video, no? I worked extremely hard for a fail safe no error presentation. However, I didn't take in account incompetence of Bing Consulting Services. I feel they owe me for the hours of rush service I did for naught. Absolutely no excuse for this I couldn't be clearer on the proper file, even reiterating the download link again, just as another layer of safety. I even visited the venue early and she assured me the video worked fine but couldn't show it to me because "wires were not set up" and seem very confident. Did she ever get the hint that this was important and make certain she had the right file? She was more concerned about decorations than content of the program. I said she should have paid more attention to this, she said she had to "put up vines." Wow, that's vital.
