    Ornament making workshop

This is such a great space for kids! It's relatively new to the Palos Verdes shopping area, and is such a welcome addition! My 5 year old daughter has attended several events there and without fail, asks me to sign her up for another one as soon as the current event is over. I really like how there are so many types of activities to choose from - we attended an ornament making event just before Christmas, and made so many cool ornaments for the tree (and also got to enjoy yummy hot chocolate while we crafted). There are also activities where you drop off your kiddo for either a half or full day. I wasn't sure how my daughter would like it since she can be a little shy at first, but I just got back from picking her up from the Frozen themed day camp and she said she had a great time and wants me to sign her up for the dinosaur and unicorn day camps ASAP! I like how they tend to have drop-off events during days when school is closed - it's a great way to get the kids out of the house for a bit and engage them in something creative! Highly recommend Lemon Blossom Creations - we're definitely going to be repeat customers!

We had a super fun birthday party for my 5 year old daughter at Lemon Blossom Creations. Dora was wonderful and great with the kids. Can't wait to go back for summer camps and open studio days!

They are kind, incredibly generous with their knowledge, and created such a welcoming environment for both my mom and me. There is a really nice variety of workshops too and I'm hoping they add even more for evenings. I recently took the holiday linocut workshop and had the best time! It wasn't just about learning a new craft; the vibe was so social and upbeat. The teacher was wonderful and the other students were a blast to hang out with while we worked. Their approach to teaching really builds your confidence. For the first time, I actually felt like an artist rather than just a hobbyist. The atmosphere here is creative, supportive, and fun. I'm constantly checking their calendar for new classes and workshops to be added. Check them out if you or your kids (or your mom!) want a community as well as an art school.

I understand policies exist for a reason, but what happens when a child is sick? Are parents expected to bring their sick kids just so they don't lose a class they already paid for? I tried requesting an earlier time due to a legitimate scheduling issue, but was told no because we had already used our one make-up. So if my child gets sick again, we simply lose the class. As for the teaching, I honestly can't even say if it's great since this is our first time enrolling. But it's sad that because of this strict policy, it just doesn't seem like it will work for us. It's ultimately my fault for not reading the make-up policy closely, but after this experience, we won't be returning. We still have two classes left, which we will attend, but that will be the end for us. My friend's child is actually in the ceramics program at this same art school--she's the one who referred me--and even she thinks the policy is too rigid. If you have a very healthy child and know you'll make every session, then this school might work for you. Otherwise, there are other art programs--like Damoya Art in Danville--that are far more flexible with scheduling. When I spoke with Alex, I was told that other art schools don't even offer any make-up classes at all, as if I should be grateful for the one they allow. But for a kids' program, flexibility matters. Unfortunately, this school has just lost a customer.

The tools in the wood shop are great, and the instructors really know their stuff. What's more, those guys sure know how to keep a sharp edge on their equipment. Tuition is, in my opinion, up to what one would expect to pay in today's economy, especially considering that everyone is scrambling for cash to stay afloat, even the local government and its affiliated programs. The registration process on the archaic website is a touch on the byzantine side, though. It looks a lot like the very first website I ever coded when I was 16 years old. Uhh, now that I think about it, it looks like the website I designed a few years ago. But I'm no web designer, so hah! Point being, you're gonna have to dig around a little bit to find what you're looking for, but once you've found it, the actual act of registering for a class is pretty straightforward. Now, back to the woodworking instructors: Between the Bill and Dave, they've got about 70 years experience, 20 fingers, 20 toes, and 8 eyes (they both wear glasses). So I trust them to teach me the ways. I don't know if I'll ever be able to snatch the pebble from their hands, but I'm confident that they're showing me how to keep all my phalanges and body parts so that I could snatch that pebble, even if only in theory. I plan on taking many more courses here, especially in the "Working with Wood" category of classes. Now go forth and learn something new!

I bought some hand made soap that I just couldn't live without because of how yummy it smelled (my husband chuckled at me as I batted my eyelashes at him to purchase it for me). I also found the CUTEST soap holders. A little basket and one that looked like a old fashioned sink faucet. Super cute! I honestly would love to decorate my WHOLE house with the cute local artist finds that are sold at Kaits. I can't wait to visit again! If you adore vintage and local craftsman work, visit Kaits!
