My cousin in love decided to organize a girls night for my sister and I while we were visiting SF. As an arts & craft hostess with the mostest DIY girly, I was excited to come here. I decided immediately that I was going to make a charcuterie board as the self proclaimed queen of charcuterie lol. Of note: You do have to order your board and choose the supplies you want on the website prior to your appointment. The owner was communicative during this process and very helpful. Upon arrival, the instructor was welcoming and helpful in the preparation process. They also serve wine for an additional charge (not a generous pour). The board prepping experience was nice and the instructions were clear to follow. There was a bunch of different paints. I do wish there were more board design and color options but aside from that, it was a calming experience. Just be mindful if you're traveling with the board. I did not bring check in luggage and almost had to check it in as it barely fit in the overhead bin.
We did a company event for our team to celebrate a completion of a project. We were able to bring in local food for lunch and then have the amazing experience of creating something. I went home with a really cute piece to put on my wall. The staff is really fun, very customer service oriented, and this location provided a great team experience.
They changed to a new location!! I came here a long time ago and I will say I've been back about six or seven times. At first I thought how many boards can you possibly make? Inside, outside, fence art, garage signs...then I realized they would make good gifts so I just kept coming. The three hours go by extremely quick and it's so amazing to see other peoples final boards. They say when we create art, we elevate our mood, we improve our ability to problem solve, and open our minds to new ideas. If you haven't been, go and I guarantee you'll be back again!!
Had our annual company event here and it was a great 3 hours spent, I was happy to find out projects were instructed per steps and Carrie was really sweet to handle our group of 16. We all had fun and no one had anything bad to say about this place and a lot of people were already thinking about what they were going to make when they come back so that was good to hear. If you love arts & crafts this is the spot for you. But if painting and creating stresses you out I would not suggest this place for you! But I'm definitely planning a trip back with my family
This place is like this kids ceramic places but for adults! You pre-select your sign by registering and reserving your spot so on the day you go, your materials are ready. It was difficult to choose because everything looks super cute: porch signs, trays, mantel signs, wall hangings, clocks... in different seasonal themes! If this is your first time attending, I would suggest picking a smallish sign because it can be overwhelming the day of, as you listen to the step by step directions. Plus there are so many stain options and color options. The directions are easy to follow BUT again, first time going, pay attention! There are many people there and the volume can get loud. Plus the consumption of beer and wine from their menu doesn't help. Hahaha. Overall, it is a fun crafty time shared with friends. Expect to be there about 3-4 hours! You'll love your sign.
What a fun space! This studio is great for groups, dates and girls night out. At first I was trying to reserve the studio for a birthday party and was in communication with jill who was very responsive and accommodating. They have a full calendar and you choose the date and time that works for you along with the project or your choice. There are so many to choose from. They have your stations ready when you arrive and teach you step by step how to put your project together. I love how it felt like a relaxing mindful practice. You can't help it but be in the moment. It is joyful and creative work at once. Highly recommend this studio for a fun and creative date.
Let the Birthday celebrations begin! Decided to plan a workshop for a combo birthday with one of the besties. Contacted Jill who was extremely helpful in making our night memorable. Who would like to do a 3hr workshop with alcohol and laughs involved? (Raising hand) I can tell you it was so much fun. The team from Board & Brush was super friendly and very clear on instructions so you can't mess up your masterpiece. You're able to make this a private event which we did or sign up with your girls, significant other or just join in with friends. Lots of choices to choose from and you can always personalize your board just the way you like it. I would totally come back to create another board! Peep out my photos! Thank you again Board & Brush.
Came here for my early bday celebration and it was so much fun!!! The studio itself is tiny but there were 4 separate tables and each party was seated separately. When you book the reservation they require you to select your project ahead of time. Check in process was fast and easy, tables were set up with the preselected projects including stencils. The staff were very helpful especially for us first timers! Class itself was about 3 hours. They serve beer, wine / champagne, and do offer a corkage fee if you BYOB which was awesome. One lady told us ahead of time it would be addicting to go there and she was right! We plan to come back next month for my mom's bday surprise. I loved how my project came out and can't wait to go back again!
My husband and I came here on a date night after having dinner nearby. They had walk-in session starting at 7pm. We decided to do one craft together. I enjoy crafts, but I was a bit skeptical about doing this because I didn't know what sign to make and what I would do with a sign once made. Once we started it, and got into it, it turned out to be a lot of fun. The staff there are super attentive, and will explain everything you need to know. They were also great in giving suggestions. We decided to make a sign for the kids' room with both their favorite colors. We were happy with the finished product. You are limited to signs for the walk-in session, but you can book workshops that are for custom, bigger pieces. I definitely would do it again.
This place is awesome! Date night? Yes. Girls night? Yes. You reserve a spot and choose what board you want to make in 3 hours. They provide everything you need and they will walk you through it. AND you can order drinks. The ladies were all helpful and very cheery! They also do a raffle at the end! Recommend!!
We went for my partner's birthday and had a great time. The instructors were all so friendly, supportive and amusing. The environment was nice with good music, good company and good beverages. We had a great time and came home with some beautiful pieces. They make every non-artistic person (like me) look good! I look forward to coming back and doing it as a Girls Night with my friends.
We had so much fun on our date night to board and brush! Everything was set up and ready for us on arrival and the instructions were easy to follow. We loved how our pieces turned out, they definitely look high quality! I would most definitely return and look forward to our next crafting session.
Came here for a team outting and WOW, I came out totally satisfied with my board and how it came out!! So much fun for all of us with all of our own creations! Total duration was prolly for about 2 hrs depending on your choice of projects. The hosts here are super friendly and will help guide and teach you along the way. They will not do it for you but help guide you to get to where you want to go. If you dont have a reservation, not problem! You can come in during one of their open working sessions..... you may want to look at their calendar prior to coming in tho.

This place is AMAZING! Told my boyfriend I wanted to do something crafty for my birthday so he found Board and Brush in Walnut Creek. Prior to going, you go to their website, look at all the board options they have and pick one. Once you arrive the board will be waiting with a stencil. You can't customize much besides names and dates on the stencil but once you are there, you can customize the stain of the board and the colors you want to paint the stencil on. The process is about 3 hours long but it goes by fast because its that fun. The assistance and helpers are super knowledgeable, kind and helpful during the whole process. Since it was my birthday they even tied balloons onto my chair which was very cute. I ended up choosing to make a crate and an additional sign. TBH, the crate is a lot of hard work since there are a lot of crevices and surfaces that you have to stain or make sure to stain, but it was so worth it in the end :) the stencil on the crate goes by fast since the design was simple. While everyone was already painting on their stencil I was still staining my crate but not once did the assistants/helpers make me feel rushed which was very nice. Oh, they also serve alcohol (wine and beer) if you wanna buy it. Overall the experience was so fun and my crate and sign came out so cute. They change their sign options on their website every month (i think) so there are always new options to choose from meaning I need to come back, lol. Will definitely be coming back to make future signs with Board and Brush. read more

My mom, sister, and I had the best time here! We came in on 10/22 for the morning Pick Your Project and had a a amazing time creating our own projects! The instructor went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great time, but also was very detailed in teaching us as well. She had so much patience for us and kept it fun and light. It's exactly what we needed. We made a christmas tray and two signs- it was easier than we expected it to be. Would recommend to everyone! read more

Had a great time with friends! Perfect place to get together for a few hours! Program is totally organized and the instruction is great! These ladies have it all set up for you and help you as you creste your own design. You get to pick the colors! They are following all covid protocols. Sad no wine available during covid! Great spot for team building or celebrating a birthday! Can't wait to return! read more
We had a wonderful time at our friend Jason Moon's Real Estate client appreciation event at Board and Brush. I had been meaning to check out this place for a long time and was thrilled to be invited to an event to try it out for myself. Before the class we were able to pick out our projects online and customize them to our liking. I kept mine how it was presented online and my boyfriend had his read Cucina (Italian for Kitchen) with an H for his last name. We were also able to request who we would like to sit next to. When we arrived for the event our projects were already set out and ready to go and we were sat with who we requested. We spent the first part getting some drinks (they have a bar where you can purchase soft drinks, wine, and beer) and exploring the various projects hung on the wall for inspiration. Throughout the process each step was first demonstrated to us then we had staff who were able to assist us at each of our tables. First we selected our stain color which they have about 10 to choose from. Next we hammered our projects to give them a rustic more realistic look. Then we stained and allowed our projects to dry. They had all of the tools necessary including gloves and aprons to project your skin and clothing. Next mod podged our boards to get the stencils to stick, placed on our stencils and selected the paint colors we wanted. When we finished painting, removed the stencil we were left with our beautiful designs. The whole event was two hours long and I felt like it flew by I was having such a good time. With everything demonstrated and broken down into steps I felt confident working on my project and felt they maintained a good pace. read more

WHAT A FUN PLACE!!! We came to Brush and Board last Thursday with a bunch of friends. I had recommended the place after hearing about it from a friend. It was a memorable and FUN experience. At first I thought $65 was a bit steep for a wooden sign but when we got there and saw how many different steps went into making this sign, I wasn't complaining. Each work table has an employee who is there to help and guide you through the process, from start to finish. We had Jen and she was AMAZING! So friendly, easy to talk to, helpful, and didn't make us feel dumb if we had questions. For first-timers, that was helpful because I had no idea what we were getting ourselves into when I stepped through those doors. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!! I couldn't stop talking about it and showing our pictures to my co-workers the next day. It's good for two people, small groups and big groups! We're already planning our second trip back, for my birthday =) read more
We decided to make a reservation for a birthday celebration at Board & Brush. The shop is located in Downtown Walnut Creek between Main and Locust on Commerce Lane. The entrance is not visible from the main street so you have to walk between buildings to find it. Parking is available on the street or in a structure. The meters charge $3 per hour but in the structure it's free for the first hour and $1 for each additional hour. For $65 you get to choose a project from their website and specify if you would like to make any modifications to the design. For custom pieces there is an additional fee. They have great options like chalkboard paint, glitter accents, various wood stain shades, and a full array of paint to make your sign unique. There are instructors that help each group with their signs and they also make sure that the workbench is clear of products no longer being used. They offer great guidance if you're stuck with deciding which stain/wash/paint to use. Everything is well organized and the atmosphere is really down to earth. They have hooks to hang your personal belongings while you work and offer beer/wine for an additional fee. The entire experience was great from planning the event to actually putting together the project. You leave with a finished product and the instructors are willing to help you fix any areas that need to be touched up. The whole process took about 3 hours but you don't even notice the time as it flies by. I highly recommend dusting some glitter accents on your piece because everything is better when it sparkles. This is a great place to spend some quality time with friends or family. They offer a promo where you get 1 free project after you purchase 5. New projects are released each month so be sure to see what your next home decor will be. I definitely plan on coming back! Check out my pictures to see the progression from start to finish. P.S. It gets really loud when the hammering starts. Also, the wood stain has very strong fumes while it's working its magic. I don't recommend wearing clothing that you cherish or dangling jewelry. They give you an apron but things can get messy once you start focusing on your work. The best way to reach them is via e-mail. No one is in the studio when classes are over so it's difficult to get someone on the phone. read more

I can't say enough about B&B! 6 friends came to celebrate a friend's birthday and none of us had ever made anything like this before. We had such a fun time and our projects turned out great! There were several employees present to help out, but Karen was our main helper and she was fantastic and very patient, too. I would love to do this again and I would recommend Board and Brush to anyone who wants to have a fun night out AND bring something home to show for it! read more

I booked a Thursday Night as a surprise for the girlfriend and her birthday. It was nice they were able to accommodate our 6 person group all to one table! Once we got there all our projects were prepped and ready/waiting for us to get started. They really make the whole process from start to finish very simple and hands-on! Lots of help was provided in each stage of (sanding, staining, painting, etc...) We all really enjoyed our evening and will be looking forward to go back again for more creations! read more
