Received a gift card sometime ago and finally got around to experience Board and Brush. After making my board selection online only then can you register. The difficulty due to all the options to choose from! I settled in a tray to be used for serving and charcuterie. The team is very helpful with the instructions and looks after each person as they are crafting. They offer lots of tips and tricks so that your item comes out first class. Fun night with friends and family in downtown Walnut Creek. Parking can be tight so allow time to circle around or park in the lot. My cousin in love decided to organize a girls night for my sister and I while we were visiting SF. As an arts & craft hostess with the mostest DIY girly, I was excited to come here. I decided immediately that I was going to make a charcuterie board as the self proclaimed queen of charcuterie lol. Of note: You do have to order your board and choose the supplies you want on the website prior to your appointment. The owner was communicative during this process and very helpful. Upon arrival, the instructor was welcoming and helpful in the preparation process. They also serve wine for an additional charge (not a generous pour). The board prepping experience was nice and the instructions were clear to follow. There was a bunch of different paints. I do wish there were more board design and color options but aside from that, it was a calming experience. Just be mindful if you're traveling with the board. I came by with my sister and cousin for a girl's night during my SF visit. We made the reservation for our time slot the morning of. There are so many board designs to choose from. We had an amazing time creating our charcuterie boards out of a solid piece of wood. It's definitely a fun activity for any creative. They do serve wine at an additional cost. It was difficult to choose because everything looks super cute: porch signs, trays, mantel signs, wall hangings, clocks... in different seasonal themes! If this is your first time attending, I would suggest picking a smallish sign because it can be overwhelming the day of, as you listen to the step by step directions. Plus there are so many stain options and color options. The directions are easy to follow BUT again, first time going, pay attention! There are many people there and the volume can get loud. Plus the consumption of beer and wine from their menu doesn't help. Hahaha. Overall, it is a fun crafty time shared with friends. Expect to be there about 3-4 hours! You'll love your sign. read more

What a fun space! This studio is great for groups, dates and girls night out. At first I was trying to reserve the studio for a birthday party and was in communication with jill who was very responsive and accommodating. They have a full calendar and you choose the date and time that works for you along with the project or your choice. There are so many to choose from. They have your stations ready when you arrive and teach you step by step how to put your project together. I love how it felt like a relaxing mindful practice. You can't help it but be in the moment. My husband and I came here on a date night after having dinner nearby. They had walk-in session starting at 7pm. We decided to do one craft together. I enjoy crafts, but I was a bit skeptical about doing this because I didn't know what sign to make and what I would do with a sign once made. Once we started it, and got into it, it turned out to be a lot of fun. The staff there are super attentive, and will explain everything you need to know. They were also great in giving suggestions. We decided to make a sign for the kids' room with both their favorite colors. We were happy with the finished product. My daughter arranged for 6 of us to go to the Walnut Creek location. I was not sure exactly what to expect. Almost immediately we felt comfortable about what was to happen, we would be assisted whenever necessary, told to have fun and relax, order some drinks if we wanted, and we started! By the end of the evening, all six of us left with projects we totally enjoyed making and all looked forward to displaying and using at our homes. Came here for my early bday celebration and it was so much fun!!! The studio itself is tiny but there were 4 separate tables and each party was seated separately. When you book the reservation they require you to select your project ahead of time. Check in process was fast and easy, tables were set up with the preselected projects including stencils. The staff were very helpful especially for us first timers! Class itself was about 3 hours. They serve beer, wine / champagne, and do offer a corkage fee if you BYOB which was awesome. This place is AMAZING! Told my boyfriend I wanted to do something crafty for my birthday so he found Board and Brush in Walnut Creek. Prior to going, you go to their website, look at all the board options they have and pick one. Once you arrive the board will be waiting with a stencil. You can't customize much besides names and dates on the stencil but once you are there, you can customize the stain of the board and the colors you want to paint the stencil on. The process is about 3 hours long but it goes by fast because its that fun. The assistance and helpers are super knowledgeable, kind and helpful during the whole process. Since it was my birthday they even tied balloons onto my chair which was very cute. I ended up choosing to make a crate and an additional sign. TBH, the crate is a lot of hard work since there are a lot of crevices and surfaces that you have to stain or make sure to stain, but it was so worth it in the end :) the stencil on the crate goes by fast since the design was simple. While everyone was already painting on their stencil I was still staining my crate but not once did the assistants/helpers make me feel rushed which was very nice. Oh, they also serve alcohol (wine and beer) if you wanna buy it. Overall the experience was so fun and my crate and sign came out so cute. They change their sign options on their website every month (i think) so there are always new options to choose from meaning I need to come back, lol. Will definitely be coming back to make future signs with Board and Brush. read more

I had so much fun here! It's even better when you go with a group of friends. It was a great experience to get your creativity juices flowing and to see the result of your work. This was my first time attending and would love to come back. The staff is incredibly helpful and so friendly. There's a flat screen tv playing music videos and it was such a cool vibe. I made a welcome sign for my wedding and it was perfect. I wish it were a little bigger, but the sign came out beautiful. You preregister online with the project you want. When you arrive, your board is waiting for you with your stencil on top. The instructors give really simple directions to follow and 2 hours later, your masterpiece is made. We had a wonderful time at our friend Jason Moon's Real Estate client appreciation event at Board and Brush. I had been meaning to check out this place for a long time and was thrilled to be invited to an event to try it out for myself. Before the class we were able to pick out our projects online and customize them to our liking. I kept mine how it was presented online and my boyfriend had his read Cucina (Italian for Kitchen) with an H for his last name. We were also able to request who we would like to sit next to. When we arrived for the event our projects were already set out and ready to go and we were sat with who we requested. We spent the first part getting some drinks (they have a bar where you can purchase soft drinks, wine, and beer) and exploring the various projects hung on the wall for inspiration. Throughout the process each step was first demonstrated to us then we had staff who were able to assist us at each of our tables. First we selected our stain color which they have about 10 to choose from. Next we hammered our projects to give them a rustic more realistic look. Then we stained and allowed our projects to dry. They had all of the tools necessary including gloves and aprons to project your skin and clothing. Next mod podged our boards to get the stencils to stick, placed on our stencils and selected the paint colors we wanted. When we finished painting, removed the stencil we were left with our beautiful designs. The whole event was two hours long and I felt like it flew by I was having such a good time. With everything demonstrated and broken down into steps I felt confident working on my project and felt they maintained a good pace. read more

WHAT A FUN PLACE!!! We came to Brush and Board last Thursday with a bunch of friends. I had recommended the place after hearing about it from a friend. It was a memorable and FUN experience. At first I thought $65 was a bit steep for a wooden sign but when we got there and saw how many different steps went into making this sign, I wasn't complaining. Each work table has an employee who is there to help and guide you through the process, from start to finish. We had Jen and she was AMAZING! So friendly, easy to talk to, helpful, and didn't make us feel dumb if we had questions. For first-timers, that was helpful because I had no idea what we were getting ourselves into when I stepped through those doors. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!! I couldn't stop talking about it and showing our pictures to my co-workers the next day. It's good for two people, small groups and big groups!
