They are kind, incredibly generous with their knowledge, and created such a welcoming environment for both my mom and me. There is a really nice variety of workshops too and I'm hoping they add even more for evenings. I recently took the holiday linocut workshop and had the best time! It wasn't just about learning a new craft; the vibe was so social and upbeat. The teacher was wonderful and the other students were a blast to hang out with while we worked. Their approach to teaching really builds your confidence. For the first time, I actually felt like an artist rather than just a hobbyist. The atmosphere here is creative, supportive, and fun. I'm constantly checking their calendar for new classes and workshops to be added. Check them out if you or your kids (or your mom!) want a community as well as an art school.

We are currently attending this art school, and I want to share our experience, especially…read moreregarding their make-up class policy. They only allow one make-up class--ever. I understand policies exist for a reason, but what happens when a child is sick? Are parents expected to bring their sick kids just so they don't lose a class they already paid for? I tried requesting an earlier time due to a legitimate scheduling issue, but was told no because we had already used our one make-up. So if my child gets sick again, we simply lose the class. As for the teaching, I honestly can't even say if it's great since this is our first time enrolling. But it's sad that because of this strict policy, it just doesn't seem like it will work for us. It's ultimately my fault for not reading the make-up policy closely, but after this experience, we won't be returning. We still have two classes left, which we will attend, but that will be the end for us. My friend's child is actually in the ceramics program at this same art school--she's the one who referred me--and even she thinks the policy is too rigid. If you have a very healthy child and know you'll make every session, then this school might work for you. Otherwise, there are other art programs--like Damoya Art in Danville--that are far more flexible with scheduling. When I spoke with Alex, I was told that other art schools don't even offer any make-up classes at all, as if I should be grateful for the one they allow. But for a kids' program, flexibility matters. Unfortunately, this school has just lost a customer.

First of all, the property is absolutely beautiful and it is so much better than being cooped up indoors in some paint studio. You feel like you're on a retreat. Second of all, the instructions were very specific and we were very well guided throughout the process. I have two left hands - and art is definitely not my forte. However, even for someone like me- the painting was a success! Last of all, the food was phenomenal. I love authentic Indian food- and the food was very delicious and added a wonderful touch to the entire experience. I HIGHLY recommend coming here for a GNO, team building, or just to enjoy with friends. I am excited to bring my kids here for a party some day.

While searching for vendors, I came across Paint and Picnic and I'm so glad I did! The website was easy to navigate, and everything was clearly laid out. I reached out to the owner, Sophia, and she responded quickly and answered all my questions. Booking was super easy, and once it was confirmed, everything was handled--setup, food, decor, and paint supplies! The venue is absolutely beautiful--relaxing, cozy, and perfect for pictures. Sophia works with a small local vendor in Berkeley for food, and each sandwich was customized to our guests' needs. I love that she supports small businesses! The paint session was fun and easy to follow, and all the girls loved it. Sophia is kind, professional, and incredibly accommodating. I didn't have to stress about a thing--just showed up and enjoyed the day. Highly recommend Paint and Picnic if you're looking for something unique, stress-free, and beautiful. You won't regret it!

This was my first time at paint night…read more If I reconsider going back, I will be sure NOT to get an event with Bindu D! He is AWFUL! My daughter and I arrived at 6:55 for a 7pm event. I was SHOCKED to find 60 people there! I don't know where I got the idea that these were small events with 12-20 participants, but it is NOT. They heard you into a room PACKED full of people where half the participants can't see the stage! Bindu started by announcing that since the Warriors were playing, parking was bad, so he would be starting the event on Filipino time at around 7:15. He finally pulled himself away from the warriors game at 7:30 and had us paint our canvas black, then he took a break and told us to come back at 8:15. He did not start again until 8:30 because he was in the bar watching the game! By 9pm all we had was a black canvas and a waterfall and he starts RUSHING us saying that we need to finish by 9:15! He got drunk and was mean to people that asked about which brush he was using and he thought he was being funny - but he just came off as drunk and rude! He did NOT really give any "art class" at all. He just stood up there and said "What is happening?" and did stuff with his brush that we were supposed to follow. i HATE disorganization and this night was ruled by it. He started late, took a long break and then got irritable that we didn't hurry up and finish! I think this could be a really fun event if it had the right teacher who was interested in showing people how to paint as opposed to getting drunk and insulting people and then BRAGGING about how he's the BEST selling artist at Yaymaker. So what! That's not much of a recommendation on the whole company. So, I might be talked into trying it again as long as I am certain Bindu will NOT be involved. He was just AWFUL!

When I privately and respectfully confronted him during the event, he became defensive. I made sure the appropriate people were informed of the incident, which led to Kevin obtaining my phone number and aggressively contacting me. Although, I blocked his number, further and appropriate action had to be taken to stop him from further contact. I'm truly traumatized by this experience. Yaymaker has been taking steps to address the issue. However, I don't think any paint night participant should have to experience what I did. There were other disturbing facts about that evening, but I wanted to share the most egregious incident and its aftermath. To me, what occurred is highly problematic and concerning!
