Please stay away from this business and the owner of the business, Daniel. He is not trustworthy. If you find yourself shaking hands with him, make sure to count your fingers afterwards.

So here ya go, I needed to get a gate built on the side fence of my house, and to have an area grated and prepped to park an RV on. I looked quite a few places and settled on Craig's List, looking for companies that were local, as well as licensed and bonded. While I have no problem hiring someone that is neither, the last time I did I got four grand worth of cracked concrete, enough said. Anyway, I found Done Right Contracting on Craig's list and gave them a call. After several calls back and forth a the owner came to my house and gave me a bid. It seemed a little bit steep: $2100 total, $1400 for grating and placing decomposed granite in my back yard and $700 to construct a gate, but I thought that since he was a licensed and bonded contractor with a long history in the field the job would be done right. WRONG!!! My first mistake was that I thought when you hired a licensed contractor that he would do the work, not so. He showed up with a 55+ year old hispanic gentleman who he quickly put to work while he "managed" the job site. Evidently this job was more than the gentleman signed up for because on the second day he failed to show up and I was told that he quit. Now, I was told, I would get a fantastic gate because the owner himself would be building it. (there are many words which I would use to describe the "gate" that he built me for $700, none of which are fantastic, nor would they be allowed to remain on Yelp! so I will let you figure it out) Anyway, upon completion I came home and saw the finished products. First I called him to ask when he would complete the parking area and was told "it's done". Looked like dirt on top of dirt, but I was told that was what decomposed granite looked like. OK, serves me right for not doing MORE research. Lets get to the $700 gate. First he left the original rotting 4x4's and simply tied into them. Then he recycled the old hardware from my original gate and used it. And, oh yeah, the gate DOES NOT open. "Well, thats because of the weight of the treated wood. Call me in about 6 weeks and Ill take a look at it". What kind of mickey-mouse outfit is this? I had to purchase wheels which I mounted to the bottom of the gate so that it would open, I had to purchase a lock to mount into the ground so that the gate would not swing forward when the wind blew. I had to call 4 times before the guy would even come back and look at it, to which he responded " look, your a long way away. I will get there when I get a chance, but you got what you paid for." Well I beg to differ, I got a piece of crap 7th grade wood shop project called a gate, built from $165 in treated lumber (much of which was discarded because he mis-cut), that would not and could not open. So, I guess what I am trying to pass along to you, the potential consumer, is that if you want to severely over-pay for a project, the quality of which your daughters girl scout troop could complete in a day, and deal with a complete imbecile who cares nothing about the quality of his work or the name of his company; well you've come to the right place! Your better off spending $17.00 for the do-it yourself book at Home Depot and hoping for the best.

Zero Stars! Unfortunately, we hired Cary Taylor at CL…read moreTaylor Construction to be the general contractor to remodel our home. We would not hire him again to build a dog house. If you are considering hiring this guy, please message me first. Long sad story. He was unreasonable, unreliable, never listened or cared about the remodel of our family home. His contract (signed in Jan. 2021) required him to complete our remodel by May 2021 - but by the end of May demo wasn't even finished. Also, there is a laundry list of numerous construction defects - some are shown in the pictures - defective installation of a slider, crooked walls, un-level countertops, etc. And, failures to fill out the right City forms - headaches after headaches. We paid him over $75k more than the contracted amount and in May 2022 he abandoned our job. Took his money and ran. On June 6, 2022, we filed a complaint against him with the CSLB. We tried to work with CSLB to resolve our differences. Cary refused. On July 6, Cary recorded an invalid mechanics lien against our home to retaliate against us for the CSLB claim. There was no outstanding invoice for the amount on the lien. We had to hire a lawyer to get the invalid lien removed. Fortunately, the CSLB is continuing to investigate our claim against him. And, fortunately we hired a competent professional general contractor, who worked with the City and us to get our remodel passed through final! Bottom line: we do not recommend Cary Taylor or CL Taylor Construction!

Since finishing the first phase of our multi-phase homestead overhaul last October, we've recommended Cary and his team-- including kitchen designer and woodworker extraordinaire, Dave Edwards-- many times over. As a result, several of my husband's and my colleagues have hired Cary as well. If you seriously need a detail-oriented, honest and hardworking general contractor, Cary's your #1 choice. We instantly like him, got a great feeling about him, and had already seen the quality work he'd done for some friends. We hired him for a full kitchen and bath remodel. He met with us again to make sure he understood everything we needed, and provided us with a comprehensive bid for labor. All material costs were passed thru directly, no mark-up, and he always kept receipts as back up. As we continued to add to the project (as is prone to happen), Matt was upfront with us and told us what would add time/cost. His final bill was EXACTLY what we expected, NO SURPRISES. Matt is so good, that his estimated timeline was correct, to the day! Everyone at May's Remodeling is honest and trustworthy. I never gave it a second thought about leaving him and his crew alone in my house all day. They took superb care of my house and everything in it. As they knew we were living in the house still, they took extra care to clean up after themselves each day, so we could come home to a clean house. The quality of work from May's Remodeling is TOP NOTCH! I had contractor friends and other vendors compliment me on how good the work was. May's Remodeling doesn't cut corners - they do it right, the first time. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, some might describe me as OCD....I never once had to follow-up with Matt on the quality of his work. His business card should say that he's a tile and drywall ninja! He's that good! Matt was always reachable by phone. He went out of his way to make the remodel easy on us. He stopped by on a Sunday with his dolly to help us move appliances, he spotted things that should be fixed, and offered to fixed them. Matt transformed our house into exactly what we wanted!…read more We purchased our home, fully planning on remodeling the entire place. We got at least 4 bids: 1 from a personal referral, 1 from someone we had used before, 1 from someone my husband struck up a conversation with at home depot, and 1 from yelp (May's Remodeling). From the beginning, Matt and Jay came in, walked through our home, asked alot of great questions, and made some good recommendations. When we got our bids back, they were not the lowest and not the highest. Ultimately, we decided to go with them based on their thoroughness and the fact that they would be the ones doing the work, not subcontracting out to a bunch of other people. During the remodel, Matt was there almost every single day, working from early morning to evening. My husband and I would come a few times a week, check-in, make decisions, bring materials, and every time, Matt was there. What I appreciated most about Matt was that as we moved along, inevitably there were changes we wanted, and he never shied away from doing something, even if it was a little more work, if it made sense for us in the long run. For example, adding more switches, insulating some walls, moving plumbing, etc... We felt he had our happiness and satisfaction as top priority, and his change rates were very reasonable. We've now been moved into our new home for a little over 2 months, and all seems well. There's definitely alot more I could say, but I'll let the pictures speak from here. We are very happy and satisfied we went with May's Remodeling.
