Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to what I remembered. The matcha flavor was a little dull, and the drink was noticeably less sweet than usual. I don't necessarily need my matcha to be super sweet, but the balance felt off this time. It just didn't have the same flavor that made me enjoy it so much before, and I found myself not really wanting to finish it. At around $8 plus tip for the Vienna matcha, I do expect a certain level of consistency, especially with a drink I've ordered and enjoyed so many times. That's what made this visit disappointing. Naomi, who led the tasting, is also involved in making the chocolate, which made a big difference. She walked us through their collaborations over the years and the inspiration behind different flavors. It's not a set tasting menu. It's more go with the flow, which made it feel personal and relaxed. She's clearly passionate about what she does and very open to ideas. You can even reach out ahead of time to design your own experience. We ended up tasting over ten flavors that day because she was generous with samples. I left feeling like I probably don't need chocolate again for a while, but still walked out with a stack of bars to share with friends and family. There's something really special about how they connect you to the process. Seeing raw cocoa beans and learning more about how everything is made gave me a bit more appreciative. Refrigeration is not recommended as it could harden the mochi so just keep them in a cool, dry room temp. They have two main fillings, either white bean or red bean. Some of the white bean ones have fruit infused in the mochi but they don't have anything with actual fruit inside. It's cash only. Also, Sakura-ya mochi is just a few steps away on the same street if I want to check that out too but Chikara mochi is much more decorative & pretty.

He brought them home to eat, took one bite of the cream puff (Joker themed strawberry cheesecake-filled cream puff) only to find the filling was just plain vanilla. Understandably upset because this wasn't what he paid for, he went back to get replacements because now we can't trust that the others have the correct filling either. Unfortunately, there didn't seem to be any other employees/management present so my SO had to confront this same male employee. No apologies or anything for the mistake. Instead he kept repeatedly doubling down about how he wasn't told that my SO wanted something different. The onus should NOT be on the customer to just KNOW that the fillings can be changed. Especially if it's their first time visiting. Nor does it make sense that the DEFAULT filling for the collab pastries should be anything other than advertised. My SO had to raise his voice and demand replacements, and this employee threw a tantrum by rolling his eyes and tossing the old ones with an attitude. You don't belong in customer service if you can't handle simple orders and taking accountability. He seriously needs to be retrained/disciplined/fired. SOMETHING.
