Great visit to the Poconos Great Wolf Lodge in early October…read more We (4 guests) stayed one night from Friday to Saturday. We got a good rate of about $300 (including the $25 parking and other fees) This rate included four (4) water park passes with our stay. We arrived at around 2:30pm on Friday afternoon and the parking lot was packed. We checked in at the kiosk and obtained our wristbands. The options available upon checking in can be a bit overwhelming (with add-ons) but there are staff near the kiosk area to guide you through. You use your wristband to enter your room, but also to exit and enter the parking lot. Shortly after checking in, we got a text that our room was ready! We were able to get our bags from the car and go to the room. We got a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom guest room (for up to 8 guests) in the Mountain Tower. We didn't know it at the time, but the walk from the Main Lodge Check-in area to our room in the Mountain Tower is pretty long...especially when you are carrying bags. There is an entrance near the Mountain Tower directly from the parking lot...had we known, we would have parked there instead of making the trek. The room itself was good...we did appreciate the bigger room as everyone had their own area. There was one bedroom with its own bathroom and another bedroom and a bathroom in the main living-room area. The living room had a large sectional couch and a mini-fridge with sink and small countertop. Some of the decor of the room (walls, bathrooms, countertops, and some furniture) seemed dated. There were NO usb outlets throughout the room...so be sure to bring your USB wall chargers. There was NO microwave in the room. Instead it is in the room in the hallway, available for all guests to use. There is also NO iron/ironing board, as you will have to request that from room service, if needed. From our room, the Water Park, close to the main area on the 1st floor, was a bit of a walk. For those who may be staying longer and interested in visiting the water park frequently, may want to consider getting a room closer to that area. The Water Park itself was nice...lots of people, but it never seemed overcrowded on a Friday mid-afternoon. Lots of difference area depending on what you like, or the age group, such as the lazy river, wave pool, kiddie pool and various water slides of course. Note that there are some intense water slides...so be mindful as you may get banged up a bit on your way down through the tubes. There are lockers at the Water Park. There is also a food area that offer drinks and snacks for sale. There are towels available there (one per guest) that you will HAVE to return before leaving the Water Park area. There is an arcade near the Water Park. There are also lots of activities throughout, some free, some not,...so be sure to look at the schedule to check if there is anything you would be interested in. Large gift shop in the main area with lots of trinkets including a Build-A-Bear workshop. There are some food options throughout the Lodge, but we did NOT eat there, and instead ventured outside for other options. There is also a Dunkin Donuts on the 2nd Floor of the Mountain Tower, but we did not visit there. Water filling stations available in certain areas. One great tip that I saw from other reviewers is the additional night offer they often send to guests...when we were checking out on Saturday morning, we received a notification that rooms were available starting at $90....the price on their website for that Saturday-night stay was about $350. I suspect that $90 room was NOT our 8-guest room but didn't explore the option as we had alternate plans that day. Just something to keep in mind...if you have the flexibility. Staff was great throughout our entire visit...from the parking area, to check-in area, to Water Park and even those you pass along in the Hallways. Everyone was pleasant and willing to help and guide your throughout the Lodge.

Sharp at 7 AM, the roof is shaking with loud thuds and drilling noises. We called help desk twice and it's over and hour and the roof is still shaking. As much as I understand this is outside the "quiet time", I didn't book a special hotel stay on a weekday to be woken up by construction (extremely loud drill) noises without any notice. On top of that, when we called the front desk, the response was, "it's outside quite hours" twice. As if I am complaining about some kid yelling next door. The kids are up and cranky and it messed up our entire days plans coz no one is well rested as we all were woken up abruptly at 7 AM. We won't be using any additional services and leaving. They shouldn't be giving out rooms directly below construction areas let alone families with young kids. There was no heads up to us about any of this which made this experience even more disappointing. Had we known, we wouldn't even have bothered booking. The hammer and drill noise is still on after an hour and 15 mins and the ceiling is still shaking....

**Another Wonderful Kalahari Stay **…read more After over 10 years of bringing my family to Kalahari, this trip reminded me why we keep coming back. We had a few minor hiccups with our room, but the kindness of the staff truly made the experience worthwhile. A huge thank you to **JP, the arcade manager**, for being so incredibly kind and accommodating to my family, especially my nonverbal son. His patience and willingness to make him comfortable meant more to me than he probably realizes. Also, a special shoutout to the **lovely young lady with the cornrows at the ice cream parlor**. She was so patient, welcoming, and hospitable with our family. And **Rich, the train conductor**, was absolutely wonderful! He was so kind and knowledgeable about the area. After coming to Kalahari for all these years, I had no idea there was a waterfall nearby until he recommended it! Now I can't wait to come back and explore more of the area. Unfortunately, our experience with the room completely overshadowed the positives. All three of us myself, my spouse, and my daughter woke up with multiple bites after staying in the room. I was bitten particularly badly on my face and arms, while my spouse and daughter had bites primarily on their arms. I cannot say for certain that they were bedbug bites because I did not actually see any bugs, but the bites were very similar in appearance and pattern to bedbug bites, which was extremely concerning. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was also a major issue. There was hair in the bathroom, what appeared to be food or possibly vomit on the bed, sticky residue all over the refrigerator, and the sheets and linens did not appear to be clean. I really wanted to be able to leave a glowing review because I enjoyed the resort itself, but I have to be truthful about our experience. For the price of the stay, the condition of the room and the possibility of a pest issue were unacceptable. There's definitely a lot to enjoy at this resort, but based on our experience, I would recommend enjoying the resort's amenities while considering staying at a different hotel.

The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting unless you went into the ski lodge so definitely wear shoes around if you can. There was plenty of chairs available and a lot of them were shaded by giant umbrellas, luckily the day we went it was mostly cloudy. There are a decent amount of slides, an Olympic sized pool, a wave pool and 2 kids areas. One was more toddler-friendly and the other was definitely geared towards kids a little older but half of the slides on it were closed. Multiple lifeguards at every slide or pool which was nice. Lots of life jackets available in many sizes. Water was a bit cold as it's not heated at all. Food options were a bit limited, possibly because it was a Monday. The main area had a couple of food trucks with mac and cheese, fries or tacos and a Belgian waffle stand. You got a lot of food for not a bad price, but wish there were some more options. Would definitely recommend going on a weekday though as weekends likely get very busy. Would definitely recommend coming here for a good summer day trip!

At 6PM, my daughter couldn't even use the bathroom because of the way the restrooms smelled. The attendants have not have been cleaning during the day at all and no where to be seen at all. The restrooms and bathrooms both smelled like urine and had not cleaned in days. There was no toilet paper in any of the stalls we tried, and used toilet paper was left all over the floor. The water in the showers and sinks was cold, there were puddles everywhere, and there was nowhere reasonable to change out of wet swimsuits. I understand lines get long near closing time on a busy Saturday -- that's expected and not really anyone's fault. But there were no bathroom attendants at all restocking supplies or cleaning during the day, which is a management and staffing issue, not a "busy day" issue. A family water park should have working, stocked, sanitary restrooms available for kids all day, especially on a Saturday when the park is at its busiest.

We arrived around 10:30AM (park opened at 10AM). Rented 2 lockers to hold our dry items, you either need to use a card or use exact cash - small lockers are $10 and large lockers are $12. That gains you access to the lockers for 24 hours, with as many in/outs as you need. There was a decent crowd but not overcrowded. We easily found 8 lounge chairs together to place all of our towels and flipflops down (we highly suggest wearing flipflops to the park). The kids enjoyed the non-working wave pool, the 3 slides, wave rider (surf machine). The adults enjoyed the hot tub. The wave pool and wave rider had warm water, the hot tub had hot water. Two of the slides are for 1-2 riders and one of the slides was for 3+ riders. The water for the 3+ riders was rather cold but the slides also go outside and this is the middle of January. The hot tub only allows those 18 and over, which was a nice treat for the adults. There is a tiki bar inside the water park with margaritas, frozen drinks, and beer - a decent mix of options. The bartender was extremely friendly, as were all the staff. There is a food stand with a large mix of options and the food was okay, with typical prices for this type of revenue. Everyone had a good time and we ended up spending 6 hours total at the water park. All in all, it was well worth the admission fees and is a place we would return to.
