How happy and surprised was I to see Indigo (inside of the spacious Toronto Eaton Centre), especially so far away from the only location in the states, which happens to be in my vicinity (Short Hills/Millburn). I absolutely adore this bookstore at home and now 'abroad', as well. The Toronto store is larger and has a café. There was a lot of foot traffic, so it was busy and crowded. Which is not surprising inside of a big shopping centre/mall. I like the exclusivity element of there not being too many locations anywhere. read more

I drove up to Toronto from Sarnia (Ontario) last weekend, along with 2 work colleagues. One of them grew up in the area (Scarborough) and she gave us several recommendations on what to do in Toronto. That included visiting the shops at Yonge and Eglington. So after getting off at the TTC stop, I looked around and muttered: What shops? The Eatons that I think used to be on the corner was long gone, so I impulsively decided to walk north. That was a good choice as there are a lot of nice stores if you walk that way, and almost to Lawrence. I received confirmation of that choice by stopping into Indigo and unlike some males, asking for directions. This Indigo store itself is indeed bigger inside than it would appear outside. And its nonlinear layout does encourage wandering around and lingering. The magazine selection is impressive as was the friendliness of store staff. read more

Hi I am writing a review of Pamela Anderson's book. I realize it needs to be on Amazon. A great read so far-I am impressed by this lady-I wish I was advised or had this advice as a young adult but never did. I give her credit and she is a talented lady. Pamela tells all about her childhood. I might add that all factors considered you have to give Pamela a lot of credit-not only a talented lady but combining a career as a model and mother is an accomplishment in itself. Do not purchase an e-gift card from Indigo. It was not sent (ordered for immediate gift on Dec 14 and it is now Dec 20 and still not sent). I waited 54 minutes on hold with customer service. No option for call back and their robot chat online is useless. I was left embarrassed and inconvenienced. Never again. read more

I like this location the best - it isn't as busy as some of the other's that I have been to which therefore means I can always find the book I want. Every time I have gone all the staff are super friendly without being annoying. Plus the fact that I can actually find someone who works here in case I have a question. Also I love the unique gift selection (if you buy it for yourself it still counts as a "gift" right??) that Chapters carries and I find at this location I can always find what I want in stock. This never happens at the busier locations like Yorkdale. Just walking in and smelling all those books brings me right back to my happy place...when I was a little girl and would speed read Sweet Valley High books in the corner of the bookstore (before they put in chairs and a coffee store and encouraged people to do this...before they would shoo you out of the store if you didn't buy the book) Writing this review now makes me want to read.... read more

Don't tell me every Indigo Books Stores are the same. This location of Indigo Books is one of the best ones I been to. Selections of books are excellent!! I was just planning to just browse a little, kill some time then off to The Duke of Kent across the street to have a pre dinner drink..ended up I stayed here for over 1 hour.... The collection of Yoga Philosophy books was so impressive which I would never expect a brick and mortar bookstore would carry!! Staffs were really helpful! I was asked numerous of time if I need any help when I browse around the store. Good location! Especially during winter since it is connected to TTC Eglinton Subway Station! read more

This indigo is two floors and everything is kept neat and organized. Most of the books are upstairs while downstairs has the popular top sellers, home accessories such as pillows and blankets and magazines. They also have a large collection of swell bottles (there was at least over 30 different colours). They do have a selection of comics books which I have never noticed at another indigo. This holiday season I ordered WAAAY too much off of Indigo and decided to try their "pick up from store" option. The pick up location is the main (mall) entrance on the second floor. There are always at least 2 people tending to customers so, despite the line that went down the hall, wait time is less than 10 mins. I was assisted by the same rep multiple times, however never caught her name. She was welcoming, retrieved my orders in a timely fashion and even collected the other items that were ready without me having to ask or needing to scan my other confirmation emails. Scanning the email barcode is done through the doors, and the whole experience was very comforting; your items are placed on a cart and rolled out so there's no contact between you & the worker. This process was an extremely user friendly and 11/10 I would recommend (that is...if you so please to get fresh air and head over to the store). read more

I am trying to review Chapters/Indigo as a company thought I have been to this location and it was wonderful. But Chapters Indigo is a top notch company from a customer service perspective it doesn't really get much better - if you have a question or problem with your order you can email their CS or call them and unlike so many other companies you'll be put through to a great communicator who actually wants to help you instead of hinder you. They'll get in touch with carriers for you, treat you well and if an item ever arrives with a flaw (extremely rare) they'll ship you a new one with immense courtesy. Their CS people are polite and will go above and beyond to help you if need be and they understand everything you tell them. Given how rare this has become these day I am proud and happy to shop here. Their selection of certain goods in unrivalled - they have so many titles but also wonderful gift and home sections. They stock many wonderful brands of luxury scented candles that are available nowhere else in Canada including my personal favourite - Voluspa! read more

This store is top-notch in comparison to other Indigo location. Great logical layout and offers everything that the larger-sized locations typically do. In addition to their main product, books, there are large sections for magazines, stationery, house & home, multimedia & electronics, toys, novelty items and of course a Starbucks (and one that is on the card/star reward system). It does take 2 floors but you have an escalator going up and stairs going down. Within the mall itself, the main entrance is off of Yonge Street and sometimes I cut through there and use the escalator to go to the Cineplex as it is right beside it. They also have a washroom behind the kids' toy section so it is convenient if after a movie and the Cineplex washrooms are busy, I will use the one in Indigo. I've said too much. read more

This is one of my favourite Indigos. Highlights: - Star bucks on the upper level with plenty of seating options. - Great organization. All the gifts and magazines on the lower level and the majority of books, organized based on various categories, are on the upper level. - Great selection of books. - Helpful, friendly staff. There's always someone around to help you find a book. I've never had a problem finding books thanks to the staff. - And since you can't judge a book by its cover, you have the option to grab the book, sit down on one of the many chairs scattered around the store and start reading! I like this location. And I like it a lot! Aside from the above, it's a convenient location. Right at Yonge and Eglinton and it's connected to the subway station so you'll never have to step outside if you don't want... Although I would definitely recommend stepping out and exploring the shops, bar, and restaurants in the neighbourhood. read more

I really like this store and go for a wonder when I feel like being surrounded by books as it is just below my apartment. The staff are so friendly and ready to help if they can see you are trying to find something, they seem genuinely happy to help you find your book and even offer great recommendations! I did not give it a full 5 stars after the experience I had today the very rude manager came and belittled a man who was on the till serving me because he 'shouldn't be on till' he explained he jumped on whilst the server was busy helping a customer as he didn't want me waiting, she continued to belittle him and stormed away I felt so bad for him I almost said something to her! The Starbucks is a really nice touch to go and sit with your new book or simply people watch as it over looks yonge although my experience is tainted here because of the utterly rude staff! The manager took a staff member of 'bar' as they call it (I used to work at starbucks) in the middle of making my drink and she continued to make it...wrong. I asked for a cup of iced water along side my drink and she simply grunted at me so I wasn't sure she had heard me, I asked again and she told me to wait she was making a drink and then slammed my water down at me and scowled I was appalled! It's a shame as some of the staff seem nice. read more

Indigos is really stepping up their game especially this location! This location is quite spacious and filled with lots of inventory. Staff is always available for assistance and they would never push you to buy anything you do not feel comfortable buying. They're also willing to give recommendations especially if you've read certain books which shows they are quite knowledgeable! The ironic part about Indigos is the fact I hardly go there to buy books now only because of Kobo/Kindle but they sell a lot of other stationary which I have been obsessed with lately. It's a problem. Being a stationary freak - I just really like their designs on the agendas and notebooks. I've recently come to like their bag collection too. I was just disappointed they didn't have a specific bag i wanted but it was probably just out of stock... I just wish they had this when I was still living in university during the dorm tables. I could've really made use of the laptop table they sold with a cup holder! They sell lots of boardgames, amiibos, electronics like any other Indigos and of course have Starbucks. Best of all, it's open till late. We were there till almost 11pm and it was still open. Pretty impressive if you ask me! read more

The best thing about this Indigo location is the vast magazine selection. It's not the biggest I've ever seen but fairly big as well as diverse including many titels on art, design and music. The gift section is also cool, it's pretty small so they don't sell complete product lines compared to bigger locations but there's a little bit of almost everything that Indigo gift sections usually carry. The gifts & accessories section at this location does boast a large scrap book selection that I haven't seen elsewhere. Starbuck's located upstairs = good but has very limited seating. Kid's section has a play area frequented daily by many neighbourhood children, due to Thomas the Train Engine table set up! read more

I must say that this is my favored Indigo Location; A few reasons; well laid out, knowledgeable and helpful staff. My fave staff member is Ganga, on the 2nd floor. She knows her stuff and has recommended some good reads to me which I truly appreciated. For a chain book store, that really says something.. Decent chapters location. They sometimes have authors here to sign books. It's not a large location but I like it because of that. The staffers here are always nice too. The starbucks is small but the line up usually isn't long so you're able to get your coffee or snack quickly. Nice midtown location. read more

VIBE I quite like the layout of this location. Mags and bestsellers in the front. Gifts in the middle and back. If you go into the far left corner of the back, there's currently some sale items there. The second floor is business, travel, kids and more fiction. A staff member here is always on hand to assist me at this location . Plus, that Starbucks is cozy if you can get a seat. I think I'll go out on a whim and say this is my favourite Indigo location if only for the well spread out flow of the customers as opposed to the Eaton Center and Richmond locations (and at that Manulife...always packed especially in the magazine section. The first time I'd ever been into this Indigo was directly after seeing "Sin City" at the SilverCity (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/silvercity-yonge-and-eglinton-cineplex-odeon-toronto) and I wanted to check and see how their Graphic Novel section held up. They did in fact have the "Sin City" novels so, checkmark one. This Indigo was a pleasant surprise on many fronts. The size of the place is startlingly big, and seems to be larger on the inside than the outside would indicate. Because of the size of the store, selection of books abound, each section of the store with a large variety of titles. There are quiet corners to be found as well so that you can sit and enjoy the book you've selected. Being right at Yonge and Eglinton as well provides you with easy subway access to it and the other stores in the Yonge and Eglinton Centre (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/yonge-eglinton-centre-toronto). This location has an odd layout. I don't get it. There's lots of pillars, tables everywhere, and the store really feels broken up. The main floor is ok as it seems to be dedicated to all the nick-knacks and cooking stuff, but the second floor throws me off. An added bonus to my frustration is that the aisles are very narrow so trying to get past another consumer is very difficult, especially when the store is busy like it is now for Christmas shoppers. read more

This two storey Indigo is really a staple to the plaza. Whether you're waiting for a friend to go to the movies next door, or heading out to dinner, this bookstore is a great place to kill time. I will confess, I'm not much of a reader. I love reading, I really do, but I just don't have enough down time to read! The down time I have, I reserve for sleeping. Even though I'm not a big reader, I have ambitions about reading, this year alone I've bought probably over a dozen books (mostly all of them through Chapters and Indigo) and finished maybe 2 of them. The thing I enjoy about this Chapters the most is the non-book section items. They sell board games, and picture frames, even baby clothes. It's an ingenious idea really, and I guess only a matter of time until they broke into other ventures. They also have a nice selection of high quality greeting cards, really artsy and cute. I saw some recyclable journals (made completely from recyclable materials), that were very small and compact. I think it would be a great thing to bring on my trip, but it was a hefty $20 for a small journal. read more

The Starbucks is cozy, with large windows overlooking Yonge St. They have a fireplace (which wasn't on while I was there) and a nice amount of seating for the relatively small space. The cashier was very nice and helpful. Located in a great spot, a lot to do around there! The negative: My experience here last night wasn't the best. Everything seemed to be cluttered. Lots of book lying around clearly out of place. The selection was also pretty bad, I found it had a ton of fiction but as for reference books and music books, the selection was below average. I've been to this location many times, and I find it simply annoying. The store is jammed in an awkwardly shaped space, so its poorly laid out, with small aisleways, and poor signage. My shopping expectations are pretty low, but on every visit, something was wrong. Sometimes the music is too loud. Once they were playing a Denis Leary song, with plenty of rude and offensive lyrics, which was not appropriate for my child or the other children in the store. Another time, there seemed to be some inscrutable lineup for the 2 cashiers. After a 10 min wait in what I thought was the line, the cashier announced he would not serve me for my one magazine, and directed me to the other end of the store where the "real" line started, much to the snickering delight of the woman behind me. I'm not new to shopping, yet I have never seen such a poorly - managed inscrutable layout for a cashier. Can't they get additional staff cashing people out? There's something wrong when your line up is so long, people cannot figure out where the line ends. There is also something wrong when the staff and situation sufficiently embarrass a customer and waste their time that they resolve never to return, as I have. read more

Being an avid book lover - I naturally love all things books. I spend a lot of time in this particular Indigo (My office is right upstairs) and I have gotten to know the staff fairly well - I love them! This is your standard Indigo - and there is nothing wrong with that. Nice selection of books, not too much seating here, though it isn't very busy so that's okay. This location is a bit smaller than most that I have been to, but it isn't crowded in the least. They have good hours, so it is a great way to kill some time before catching a movie next door. My favourite experience here was a woman cursing and ranting about the stationary and gift section here. "WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GOD-DAMNED NIKK NAKKS?! This Indigo location is one of the smaller locations I've seen, but still a good size. Of course, 3/4 of the ground floor is given over to magazines, giftware, and cards; fun for a browse, but not the main course. The book selection is generally good, but for me the real value is being able to go onto the Indigo website and check their stock so I know if they have a book before I go. Their graphic novel/manga section keeps expanding, and they've sometimes had what I'm looking for in stock. read more

Like most Indigo and Chapters, the enviroment is very friendly. There are many places where you can sit and pick out the books you want. The location is central and on the main subway line. Therefore the location is quite accessible for people taking public transit. The staff there are generally very helpful, and they are always walking around finding people to help, so when you actually need help, it wouldn't take long to find them. I read a moderate amount, and I generally like my experience at this location. read more

I like this location as they have quite a good selection of books but it is a bit difficult to find your way around. I asked a cashier where the history section was and she snapped back at me "ONE MOMENT SIR" and made me wait for her to complete a transaction (about 3 mins), then turned to me and said "upstairs". Perhaps she was upset I threw off her train of thought by asking her a question while she was scanning the barcodes of the customers books. read more

Not one of my favorite location in GTA simply due it's poor layout, the store is a great escape for booklovers who live and work by Yonge & Eglinton. The presence of a Starbucks and the close proximity of the Eglinton Subway station gives the location extra points, but unfortunately the store requires major renovation in order to make it more shopper friendly like their stores at Yonge & Bloor and at the Eaton Centre. read more

While cramped in general, and sometimes busy, it's usually easy to find what you are looking for; they have plenty of options for gifts for just about anyone, and many items that you do not find in other stores. I often do some of my Christmas and birthday gift shopping there, though like to go when I'm in the area for other reasons as well. They have plenty of varieties of my favorite stickers to give to students for my music teaching business to coordinate with the method books I use, including the scratch and sniff ones. read more
