This is a bigger location but it's not well organized. Service isn't that good, although I did visit during the holiday season so it was slightly busy. The sales person was able to help me find the item I was looking for, but she wasn't very friendly. read more

I visited this store during Boxing Week and it was a madhouse! But there were some really cool deals. Good book and tech selection. The lines moved pretty seamlessly. I found cute little magnetic bookmarkers, a set of 3 for only $2! Overall fun but also chill atmosphere. read more

I always love Chapters/Indigo and I usually spend at least 100 dollars each time I visit. The last time I visited the location in the Yorkdale mall I was browsing and an employee came up to me and asked if they could help me....twice. I told them I was just browsing. I continued to look through the store and I noticed three times that the same employee was following and watching me. Hmm. I assume that they must have thought that I was a potential shoplifter. It was annoying to say the least. In frustration I ended up leaving without purchasing anything. I contacted their head office about the incident. I explained what had happened and they told me that somebody from the store would contact me...which did not happen. In my letter to head office I advised that If I didn't hear back within two weeks I would post a review of the incident. That was a month ago so here is the promised review. It is sad because I love the store and I usually spend a lot of money there. Well, not anymore. read more

I visited this location on Black Friday and had an incredible experience. I was looking at the accessories and easily found an employee who helped me find what I was as looking for and who provided me with an honest opinion on the most flattering pieces. On a busy day like Black Friday, I was impressed with the service received in-store. After deciding on the items I wanted to purchase, I made my way to the cash and the line moved really well. The cashier was very friendly and processed my transaction very quickly. I would definitely return to this location to make future purchases. read more

The only reason I ever come here is to go upstairs and order a coffee at Starbucks. Whenever I've tried to buy anything from the store I wait in line for an eternity; sometimes I just give up and leave without buying. Overall the staff here are great though; they always seem to go the extra mile to help me find what I'm looking for or order in special requests. They are friendly and never seem impatient or annoyed. Too bad they don't hire enough people to handle the checkout line. read more

I'll keep this one short and sweet. I like this Indigo. It has 2 floors, a Starbucks, and your choice of stair or an escalator! What more could I possibly ask for? Oh ya! Books, thousands upon thousands of books. And Music. And More. Funny I feel like I already knew that - that's right... their name. While perusing the aisle upon aisle of paper back and digital media it's always good to know that a friendly, helpful associate is never far away. I'd also note that this spacious location also serves as a great place to meet up with Toronto friends if you're coming from the suburbs. Like me. I find the fact that Yorkdale is on the subway line while also conveniently being next to the HWY 401, that Indigo becomes the casual hangout or non threatening first date spot. Best of all, get bored, you've got a whole mall to explore only yards away. One drawback is that there is limited seating, even less in the starbucks (more to do with availability). this review is going to cover two parts first off: the inventory is not so good, so 1/5 stars second: the customer service is amazing. so 5/5 stars i had reserved a book through the telephone, to which i was very much looking forward to purchasing (one of two in ontario) the parking lot is a nightmare first and foremost. i went to one the reps to obtain my book that was on hold. they came back and unfortunately someone had grabbed the wrong book and reserved it on me. easy mistake, no problem. went to the section to find the right book, and we could not find the book to save our lives. we literally looked for over an hour, not to find the book, i had an apology from three CSR's and the manager of the store. yes, i was extremely disappointed, but at least this location gives a crap. we all can't be perfect, mistakes happen, but this location is top notch read more

Hey, not bad. Lots of books, service is friendly, and I really like their variety of houseware stuff. It's bad, because unless I'm looking for a specific book, I make a beeline to the discount housewares section and spend all my time there. I do read! Honestly! It's a great place to hang out and browse while waiting for a movie, or to decompress from the crazy busy mall. read more

Indigo - Bookstores Near Me - North York, Ontario

I don't mind this location. They often have a good assortment of gifts and things, in case you need to pick something up. There is a Starbucks upstairs, that often has a long line up. I needed to stop here the other day, b/c I totally had not yet taken care of my much needed caffeine fix by 6pm. The Indigo here is also open 1 hour after the mall closes. It seems to be a good meeting place, as people don't really bug you, and if someone is unfamiliar with the mall you can see it from the highway. And you can get a coffee or peruse some books while you wait. read more

My kids were bugging to get them some gifts for doing their chores, so I told them we can go to indigo and they can choose something each. However, because it was near Christmas I figured it would be better if we looked online for what they wanted from indigo first. Indigo website is really great as it tells you for each sku if they carry the stock availability in their outlets. Once we found a couple things that the yorkdale location said they had I called yorkdale to make sure it was still in Stock. I spoke with Sara (gm) and she was absolutely amazing. Not only did she help me over the phone on probably the busiest day of the year (last Saturday before Christmas) she also called me back to tell me that she would hold the products for me and where I could pick them up from. To me that is the definition of great customer service. Unfortunately, when I went to the store to pick up my gifts, Sara wasn't in as I personally wanted to thank her for her help. Way to go Sara, you made my life just a bit easier. read more

I used to work at this location, and as an employee, I wouldn't rate it so high, but, now 5 years after I've left, I can review it as a consumer. Overall, besides constantly being overstuffed with teens killing time before their movie starts at the theater across the hall and the starbucks always having a lineup going partly down the stairs, the employees are attentive and knowledgable. A special shout out to Wendy in the childrens section....this woman is FANTASTIC, I swear she's read and reviewed every book available in her section! She's great to ask for recommendations, as well. Other notable employees are Janelle in fiction...she ran all through the store, on a busy saturday, just to find me a copy of the book I was looking for...and Chantelle at cash..that girl is amazing :) They have a great selection of sale items up to %80 off...and they're not the torn copies!! Don't go here if you are looking at their tech items. Staff are inattentive and ignore you. They are too busy talking to themselves and turn their backs to you. At the end of the day when this department has sold nothing the manager should know why. read more

The store is fine. Management of the staff not so much. They tend to be less than knowledgeable and most disinterested in putting in any effort whatsoever. Especially Kuowei. I suppose merely being pleasantly inept is worth a star. read more
