We were staying near the Dublin Airport to catch an early morning flight and had a hankering for Indian food. After some research, I found Indie Spice Grill. What a great choice! It was a lazy Sunday night, but the place was busy, which is always a good sign. CORRECTION: SPICE OF INDIA RESTAURANT Swords First time here and I give it 5 stars for all aspects : decor,service , food and wine. The tandoori is excellent and my favorite aloo Gobi was great also . We chose a Spanish Granche Tempranillo which paired perfectly with all our dishes ( even the fairly spicy madras !). The naan bread was warm and crispy .I would have liked a higher quality wine glass as I would describe the ones provided more like water glassware but it didn't warrant taking off a star. Ok so I've never actually set foot inside the place but I have had their takeaway food a couple of times and I am impressed. Granted, I was so hungry I would have enjoyed a sweaty runner (hunger really is the best sauce) but it was delicious. I had the spinach and mixed moong, channa and masoor lentils (I ordered this even though I only understood half of the description) and I was in heaven. Once again we were not let down by Indie Spice. Despite being part of a small chain of restaurants (there are 4), it feels more like its own place. The location is not great in terms of views etc. but inside is a tastefully decorated and airy space. The waiters are friendly and attentive which sometimes is missing in Ireland. We were here for small family dinner (just 5 of us), and no-one was left disappointed. Food was very good, and there was a good level of choice available with clearly marked out menu's so the uninitiated could discern the hot from the mild (Mam I'm looking at you:))! Everyone had chicken dishes, and I had the lamb. Good quality meat was used and the quantity was just right. The pilau rice was light, fluffy and fragrant, and the naans were crispy and light. The meal as a whole is lighter than a lot of Indian food you get in Dublin, and this is a good thing! Try their take-away its class. Good wine list available with reasonably (for Dublin) priced house wine at €18, which was a nice fresh Sauvignon Blanc! We sat down at around 6.30pm, and didn't leave till nearly 9pm, there was no rush. Enjoyable experience all around. read more

I want to give this place more. It does a lot of things right, the decor, the service, ambience. Few things that let it down, the price of the mains is right up there at premium quality Indian, if your gonna charge premium prices you expect a truly premium dish and this was only good. €60 euro for 2 mains, one side, one glass of wine and one dessert is a little pricey in my book, considering you would find similar or better value in the likes of Jaipur and Indian Summer, which are known to be top notch. That said I do not want to slate this place, I just think they could play around with the pricing a little, maybe offer a more extensive meal deal for 2/early bird?? Food good, service not so much. My American Express card was declined by the restaurant. There was no reason for this. The server kept saying "declined, declined". I called American Express and they said they had no record of a transaction from this vendor thereby confirming it was their connection that caused the issue and NOTHING to do with my account. I emailed the restaurant the following day to advise what American Express said and to help prevent this from happening with other diners. They chose not to respond to my email. read more

This place was really great. We were the only two people the restaurant which was a bit unnerving at first. We ordered the two-person special for 50 euros which included a bottle of white wine. We ordered a couple of lamb dishes and they were simply incredible. The garlic-nam was not the best, but it was passable. This has been one of the pricier Indian restaurans I have eaten in, but for the quality of the dishes and the bottle of wine, 25 euros per person was a fair deal. read more

Food was amazing except the kids naan pizza. Pizza sauce was ketchup... sent it back and they still charged us for it.

Good spot. Service friendly but a trifle erratic. Food top notch. Mains, unusually for an Indian, not enormous, but you won't leave hungry. Their grading system is a bit inaccurate- my three chilli-rated prawn curry turned out to be medium at most. Most importantly, the food was nice-every dish we had was nice. An absolutely gorgeous well-hidden find near the airport. Decor is gorgeous, soft and low lighting. There weren't a whole lot of people in the restaurant around dinner time -- seems they do most of their business through carry out, so it felt private and secluded. The service was great, never felt neglected. The flirtini we ordered was delicious and cute, and the lamb roganjosh and biryani were extremely well prepared. Probably the best Indian food I've had. Prices are commensurate though - expect to pay about 20 euros per entree. read more

This has to be my favourite restaurant, have been to both their swords and naas restaurants and both excellent, waiters are very attentive and the food is divine. I don;t live near either anymore but we regularly travel to go to the naas one, it's that good!!! We just finished a delicious meal here. I had the chicken tikka masala (my standard for a first time visit) which was creamy yet flavorful. My husband had the beef vindaloo. It was the perfect combo of heat and spice. The beef was very tender. The staff was friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. Definitely give it a go! read more

This is probably my favourite Indian restaurant in Dublin. It's like a hidden treasure. When you walk up through the tiny staircase and past the entrance, you're shocked when the size and style of the interior exceeds its expectations; looks can definitely be deceiving. The inside is beautifully decorated, dimly lit, soothing and simply lovely. There is a blend of wonderful aromas throughout; fresh spices and food being cooked in the kitchen. The food was marvelous, cooked to perfection and full of juicy flavours - very authentic Indian cuisine. There are many meals to choose from on the menu, and for the quality of the food, as well as service, the price is pretty reasonable. The staff are excellent; fast and efficient - they know their stuff! I've had nothing short of fantastic experiences here, and I will always recommend this to friends! First,I want to say we had an amazing meal here, I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food. Unfortunately we had terrible service. We sat down, we were handed menus which in big bold letters says "Al La Carte" and no where does it state on the menu, in the restaurant or by word from the server that each person must order one starter, one main entree and one side. We weren't starving, we just wanted a nice light meal. We ordered a tandoori platter, samosas, and two sides-there was four of us..when we went to place our order with our server(who was the front of the house manager by the looks of things) we were reprimanded. We're told "this is fine dining, it doesn't work that way."(while Justin Bieber plays in the background) Well sir, I have a Culinary Degree, have worked in fine dining for years. I have met plenty of people like you, you are a typical ego-maniac that smells of bad business. Had you maybe recommended us lighter options that each of us could order, we probably would have order exactly that and you would have made more money. Servers aren't there just to take your order, they are there to sell the food! Instead you chose to TRY and publicly humiliate us thinking we didn't know any better. Look how that works out, you get a bad review. Oh! And your fine dining establishment had a cracked out, piss saturated bum sitting on your steps up to the restaurant..combine that with your Justin Bieber/Chris Brown radio station and your terrible outlook on public service..that's what I would call fine dining alright.
