Honestly, it was just an average experience--and I don't think I fall into their target audience. The food felt quite bland and not up to the mark. Service was slow throughout. It took around 20 minutes just to get the table cleared, another 10 minutes before someone came to take our order, and then about 25 minutes for the food to arrive--even though it wasn't a busy time. We ordered bhuna lamb, rice, and naan. The bhuna lamb was disappointing; instead of the expected rich, dark brown gravy, it tasted more like a butter chicken-style gravy. The naan was slightly hard and didn't seem properly cooked. Even the complimentary papad was stale and soft. The ambience was just okay, and the service... well, best not to say much. Had an excellent meal here for our last dinner in Dublin. It was not too busy when we arrived around 6:30 & we were immediately seated. I ordered some Mo Mo dumplings (comes with 10 pieces) for our party of 4 to share as well as the included papadam. They were very good & & harder to find style of dumpling where I'm from. For our mains the other three people with me ordered butter chicken & I had the Himalayan curry. Everything was so good & the chicken probably the most tender I've had at any Indian or adjacent cuisine restaurant. I checked in here on Yelp & got a 10% discount offer. I showed it to the server & he asked if I had a booking which I didn't so it felt like it wouldn't be honored, but then a lady came over with the bill & gave us a 15 euro certificate to use if we come back (this was 10%) in addition to giving us each a free baileys at the bar on the way out. We had a lovely dining experience. Ordered chicken tikka masala, masu ra saag (spinach and lamb dish), veg fried rice, and garlic naan. All were excellent except the naan missed the mark... I prefer butter and herbs with the garlic and bread. Fried rice was actually more like biryani and better than expected. The crowning glory was the chocolate mint ice cream dish, perfect to share and we fought over the last bits. I don't know why this isn't rated higher, we leave very satisfied. read more

I needed to spice up my culinary excursions during my trip, so decided to stop by Kathmandu, as I love Nepalese cuisine. I went early enough on a Saturday evening (before 7) that I was able to take advantage of their appetizer/entree deal. I ordered the khasi ko kebab, Himalayan lamb curry, and naan. The kebab was well-flavored, and reminded me of shami kabob. The lamb curry was also quite flavorful and hearty, and plenty of lamb in it. The garlic naan was good and they did not skimp on the garlic! I love that papadum is provided to start the meal. Service was friendly and I noticed they offered a lunch deal too. It's in a touristy area, but if you are nearby and want a good meal, definitely stop in. read more

FYI, they have a variety of tasty dishes you can choose from and they accommodate vegetarian. I'd ordered the vegetable pakora for appetizer! I was blown away by the colorful balls compounded with all types of delicious vegetables and a touch of corn, which was deep fried. For my main dish, I ordered their spicy lamb curry with a side of basmati rice. If you prefer to have your curry cooked mild or medium spicy, then they are happy to accommodate to your preferences. Tonight me and my family dined at Kathmandu kitchen in Dublin. The food was great, we ordered the chicken wings as appetizers which were super flavorful and not too spicy or filling. For an entree we ordered the chicken tiki masala and the garlic chili chicken with a side of garlic and cheese naan to share. There chicken tiki masala was the best I've ever had and that's coming from a Indian food lover. It was so creamy and I could not stop eating it, if you dine here definitely get it. The only complaint I have is that the entrees did not come with rice or naan you had to order it separately. As for the service it was okay, it started off very good but the waiter stopped checking in on us and we had to ask for water several times. We waited around for the check while the waiters conversed with each other. The ambiance was quite nice but nothing too special, definitely very spacious. When it comes to the ambiance of the restraint the only complaint I have is there were little fruit flies flying around the entire time and one even fell into my martini. read more

Excellent food & service! Really enjoyed dinner here twice during our stay in Dublin! Samosa chat and an appetizer sampler were delicious. We also enjoyed several dishes. My family enjoyed different meat dishes (including chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh) while I enjoyed vegetarian dishes including potato and cauliflower and a mixed vegetable dish with fresh herbs. After touring Dublin Castle we popped into Kathmandu Kitchen for an early dinner. The restaurant was recommended to us by a local friend and they were totally right, this place is a gem. The gentleman who owns Kathmandu Kitchen is Nepalese, as such the food is very authentic. We ordered the Vegetable Biryani and Saag Paneer with basmati pilaf. The biryani was accompanied by a lovely aromatic sauce that I could not get enough of - absolutely delicious. And the saag paneer is some of the best I've ever had. We also ordered garlic naan and it was amazing! Overall the service was spot on, the food was great, and the ambiance of the front window table was fantastic. It wasn't our 1st choice, but I was glad we dined here because the rich saucy comfort food was perfect on a rainy and cold Dublin night. The decor was totally Nepalese, very peaceful, esoteric & Buddhasy. The background music of Buddhist chant brought back pleasant memories of childhood trips to the temple with my parents. Came here on a busy night to get a taste of some home cooking and was not disappointed. First, a clarification: Nepalese food is not exactly the same as Indian food, so don't come here expecting the usual Indian fare. Service was great throughout the night - a tad slow at times but the restaurant was packed. The menu was a bit pricier than I'd expected - plus, if you order a la carte, you need to order naan and plain rice separately. However, they have pre-fixed menus that more than make up for the value. We were able to substitute 1 curry that we really wanted to try and pick our own house wine. Appetizers were deliciously fried and tasty. The curries were complexly flavored and yummy. Try the Himalayan Curry (think cilantro and coconut) and the Balti Curry (very lemony and flavorful). Dessert was some kind of green tea ice cream which ended the meal on a sweet note. We had plenty of food and had to take a bunch home, so come hungry! read more

The location is conveniently central and they were able to squeeze us in without a reservation on a Saturday night, so we decided to give it a go. The food was fine - nothing particularly mind-blowing, but also nothing really terrible about it either. The things that really didn't work for me: The prices: €18 for a curry seems a tad excessive especially when they aren't offering anything in terms of atmosphere. The service: very clumsy. They tried to bring wine glasses twice. They brought someone else's wine to our table. Nobody was refilling water or clearing tables. But the worst part was the extreme lack of ventilation in the dining area. I understand that it's sometimes difficult to control the temperature when it's crowded, but it was so steamy in there, the windows were saturated with condensation. Our clothes smelled so strongly of cooking oil and spices when we left that we felt like we need to just go straight home to change. Unfortunately, I probably won't be returning. read more

I even requested that our food be made mild but unfortunately the kitchen didn't seem to take my request into consideration. As a person who is half-Indian, I feel like my spice quotient is pretty high...but this was a whole other level. Ambiance: Nice place, very busy which was a good sign. Service: Horrendous. This restaurant is VERY understaffed and from getting drinks to place an order to getting the bill - everything was a CHALLENGE. Very frustrating. Food was okay with diversified selection to choose from but they weren't that mind blowing. As a huge Indian food lover, this is my first time having to order rice/bread along with my main course. With flavorful and spicy Indian food, typically sides like rice or bread are served and it surprised me that it didn't happen here. Service was extremely horrible I would say. The atmosphere really adds to the experience - it's very laid back and dimly lit, so a good spot for a date if you can avoid spilling sauce all over you... If you're looking for a real authentic Nepalese restaurant, look no further. It may not look like much from the outside but it is really cosy and feels a bit like a tea house. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even gave my mum a gift voucher for Mother's Day and gave all of us a free aperitif. The food was excellent, I went for the Himalayan Curry and it was a delicious mix of flavours and spices that brought me right back to the Himalayas. They do a fine Veggie Pakora too. The menu had some great traditional bites like MoMo and Dhal. They were more than happy to make me Masala Chai with boiled milk. We sat there for hours and I'll definitely be back soon. read more

On our first stop in Dublin, we decided to try the most non Irish place we could. I haven't had Nepali food in a long time so got very tempted to check it out we started with a bottle of red wine, which was all very reasonable. We started with the momos which were so good!! They were soft, delicious dumplings with a good amount of spice. We then ordered a couple of chicken dishes, chicken Kathmandu and a spicy chicken dish. Both super spicy and yummy. Sampled the delights of Kathmandu Kitchen earlier this year, had really wanted to try Nepalese cuisine for a while beforehand and having done some homework on the usual review sites, Kathmandu Kitchen came up trumps repeatedly for the quality and authenticity of its Nepalese offerings. It also offers a wide range of traditional Indian dishes which I steered clear of as it was a taste of the Himalayas in particular I was after and so I went for the most obvious choice on the menu - the Himalayan curry which I got with prawns and vegetable rice. When it arrived to the table I was a little off-put by the vivid green colour of the dish, but my fears were completely obliterated upon tasting. It was honestly the freshest and most subtly spiced curry I have ever eaten, the combination of fresh herbs and delicate use of spices made for a heady flavour combination that has stayed with me all these weeks later. Often I find that Indian food can make you feel heavy and bloated after eating it, but this curry was so light and fresh in comparison to its more traditional Indian counterparts. The service was also great - prompt and efficient despite the restaurant being busy with other diners, and they even provided us with a free drink to finish off our meal (I've noticed that this used to be the norm in Indian restaurants but has become less common lately, so it was a nice touch). This is a great little unassuming establishment serving up great eats that certainly deserves all the plaudits and acclaim it's received from its patrons. It's also really reasonably priced and offers great early bird and set menu options for those on a budget. My only regret is that I don't have the recipe for that heavenly Himalayan curry!! read more

This restaurant is quite underrated or at least that's what I gathered from my visit and going through the reviews here. We went in as a group of four and ordered the Chicken Biryani, Garlic Naan, Dal Tadka, and Mixed Vegetable Curry. In hindsight, it's funny I just ordered Indian food and didn't get anything Nepalese. The food was quite flavourful and spicy (you can always ask them to tone it down while ordering if you'd like). The service was a bit off. The tone of the waiting staff was a bit hard to comprehend probably because English isn't their first language and they weren't efficient -- we had to ask for cutlery and drinking water before it was provided to us, for instance. They also asked us to finish our meal quickly since they needed to close and it was over an hour before their scheduled closing time which was weird. Would I go back? I might. The restaurant was quite empty when I was there and I guess reservations aren't a norm. This is a good thing since I can always fall back here in case I can't get a table elsewhere for my meal. read more

We were probably a nightmare booking: reservation was for a table of six but seven people turned up. And we left it to the very last minute before ordering the Pre-Theatre Menu (very reasonable, by the way - 2 courses plus tea or coffee for €17) but the staff were delightful. We were even treated to a complimentary sambucca 3 hours later when we finally staggered out after really wonderful food.
