Had a good stop at Indian School Thrift. The area is a bit sketchy and there were some people in the area asking for money so keep that in mind if you're alone. Inside the employees were cheerful and friendly. The place is clean and well organized. There is lots of clothes, home goods, toys etc. Prices were super fair as well. They color code the tags and offer daily discounts off specific colors. I know, comparison is the thief of joy, but Imma do it. Compared to Goodwill, I'd say you'd have a better chance of finding a discounted item here. When I went, blue tags were 20% off, orange were 45% off, pink tags were 75% off. There was a 4th tag that was also 75% off, but I forgot which. There are also treasures to be found. I found three new sports shirts that had the authentic NFL or NBA original tag still on it. And they were all discounted. I settled on one of the three, but believe me, a week later, I am still thinking of the other two. The cashier who rang me up was helpful. I had some questions about their "Now Hiring" sign up front. I thought it might be a neat little to place to pick up extra hours...lol, not like an employee discount is even necessary. Even without the discounted tags, I found stuff that was worth buying at their regular price. I've already told a few friends to stop by and check it out. I will be back for sure. read more

Keeping in mind this is not the "best" location, I'm giving this place a solid three stars. There are a lot of clothes and some good finds for sure! There are some great sales as well, akin to Goodwill prices. The downsides are that there are no dressing rooms (major downside) and the tags are stapled into the clothes, so we have to be very careful taking them off. I did find a cute white skirt that was 75% off, making it only $2! A steal, and I love a good steal. read more

Clothing is very overpriced... and also pretty outdated. I happened to go in on a crazy sale day, which was cool. Which was great. A con is the colored tags look too close sometimes. The purple and pink vary is brightness so I did mix up several. They had no vinyl records which was a bummer.. but they did have plenty of DVDs, blu-rays, and even VHS. The adult book section was small but I was able to discover to find a few cool books. The kids' books was stacked full of good stuff. The kick knack and home was a mix of cheap trash and some cool stuff. I ended up leaving with a really beautiful crystal glass for $2.00. I will go back. read more

What? A thrift store? *squeals tires and Tokyo drifts into parking lot* I'M THERE! NO FURTHER EXPLINATION NEEDED! For those of you who know me, I love checking out thrift shops and second hand stores. You never know what your going to find, and each one had something different then the other. When I pulled in here today, it was surprisingly busy. Parking lot was mostly full, and considering it's a Thursday afternoon, I guess that's a good sign. I didn't know what to expect when I came in, so I was glad to see a decent selection of stuff when I entered. At first, it seemed sort of typical. Men's and women's clothing organized by size, purses, shoes and other stuff in the back like books and knick knacks. I found a few tops that I liked, and a set of Party lite candles. At first I wasn't paying much attention to the prices on the clothing, but after I was digging for a bit and found a few name brand items. I was like "oh, this is kinda cool to find a Liz Claiborne top." But I noticed that it was really expensive. Like $15. yet, the surrounding clothing was substantially cheaper. Why? Because it wasn't name brand. They seriously mark up the really nice stuff, like the top that I found, and charge less for the no name items or the ones in worse shape. For a thrift shop, I was surprised at the huge range of prices here. Some of them were reasonable, and I understand that they have to make a buck, but its not a consignment store...its a donation based place. If Goodwill will sell me the same Liz Claiborne top for well under $10, YOU CAN TOO. Don't charge me triple the price. I've done a lot of thrift shopping in my day, and trust me, that's way to much considering its shoved in the middle of the rack and your making a 100% profit off it. If this were a consignment shop, I would understand, but its not! Secondly, this place had no changing rooms. How the heck am I supposed to try stuff on to see if it fits properly? FAIL! Also, they had only one register open, and I got stuck behind a lady who was buying literally half the dam store. I can get past the line thing, but no changing rooms in site? I ended up putting the clothes back because I couldn't try them on. I did score some party lite candles here though, so that made the trip worth it. I would go back, but I wouldn't say it's on my short list. If you are driving by, stop in and give it a whirl. read more

Super busy shop. Very colorful neighborhood. We've inky been here twice, but I'm guessing they get more inventory than it's sister shop in Mesa. Just wish they would stay open an hour or two later. Always tough fighting traffic getting here at rush hour. Since we only had a half hour to mad-dash shop, we went straight to housewares and games. Not sure if there is a boutique area (higher ticket items). Since we're here at the end of the day, some of the shelves were half empty, but we still found some treasures. Definitely coming back, hopefully earlier so we'll have at least an hour to check out all the aisles. read more

I went in late on a Friday night, just before closing with my boyfriend. We had been out running errands all day and were both carrying backpacks. He's African American and I'm Caucasian. He was asked to leave his backpack in the locker at the front of the store, yet NOTHING was said to me about my backpack! Just bcuz I'm Caucasian I can wear my backpack? I had been wanting to visit this store for 3 months since moving to the area, but bcuz they treated my man that way, we won't be going back! I just HATE racist people!!! About the store. It was very messy. Stuff all over the floor. Having to step over stuff, mind you it WAS right before closing, so I'm sure they were about to clean up, but they should have staff to clean up during the day too. In the Housewares aisle, I couldn't tell which was which. I wanted a 13 x 9 cake pan. Couldn't find any area where this type of item might be. Very unorganized. As others have mentioned, the immediate con here is that there are no fitting rooms and all sales are final. Seems like an issue considering 3/4 of the store is clothing. That said, there are some great finds in housewares. I think I cleared out half of their planting pots selection because the prices were too good. Staff was also very friendly. I also picked up 2 super awesome Frankenstein candles... they were $2 each but I love them! We found this really awesome wine rack that was huge and only $5. We gave it to a cashier to hold since it didn't fit in the cart. When we got up there to pay the rack was gone. No one knew where it went. That sucked. Excellent selection and process on belts and ties. Found some dishes that were collectible and dirt cheap. I'll definitely stop back by when I'm in town. This is a great place to shop if you are looking for something used or that is hard to find or even a good deal. Yes the place is a little older and a little more on the ran down side however it is a thrift store. They all want to help and they are polite at the store at least everyone I have dealt with. Rack upon Rack upon Rack of clothing filled the warehouse sized building.. wow.. it's crazy..and they seem to be in good shape. good prices.. .99 on up .. though saw a pair of men's pants still with the tag .. they were asking $19.99 , looked it up.. same price as J.C.Penney. Meh..I would still want a break on the price just because it's been hanging around in a thrift store and someone else's house ~! All in all.. it's not the best but not the worst.. The staff was polite. I went in to find some clothes for work, and money is tight right now. They had some really cute stuff and I saw many brand-name items (like Lilz Claiborne). I loaded up my cart, and then...looked around...and looked around...and finally asked a lady at a register if they had fitting rooms so I could try the clothes on. She said no, they didn't. Then I saw a blue sign above each of the registers stating that all sales are final, and no returns are accepted. Well. The lady who told me there were no changing rooms said she was sorry, and I told her I was sorry, too, but that there was no point in me buying any clothes without being able to try them on, and without being able to bring them back if they don't fit. This seems like a major oversight on some levels, but another sign in the back of the store (this store is BIG on signs...) indicated that "For Our Customers Safety," there are no public restrooms. Geez...I didn't realize bathrooms were so dangerous! I guess I better look out, because I have three of them in my house! I'm sorry, but it's really stupid to buy clothes that you can't possibly return and you can't possibly try on. Where is the sense in that? It's close to my house, the staff is polite, it has a good variety of clothing...but I won't waste a lot of time there. read more

BEST THRIFT STORE I'VE EVER BEEN TO!!! This store really is HUGE! They have a great selection of merchandise and they mark down items on a weekly basis (so if that one item you wanted is a little too expensive, just be patient and it will get marked down). Some of the other reviews on here state that Thrift Stores are 100% profit, which isn't true. They have to pay for employees, insurance, bills AND their merchandise. It isn't like it just drops from the sky. I think you'll find very reasonable pricing here with some very good finds if you are willing to shop for awhile. They try to catch the top brands, but their prices are good and let's face it, if they can get $10 for a $75 top then they should. If you don't like it, wait a week and it will be $5 (or sold because you didn't buy it when you should have). Friendly staff and management, ample parking, nice cold a/c and open until 9pm. I too will NEVER go back to this store. My daughter and I went there a couple of years ago and found a lot of good stuff. When she asked about a dressing room to try on some clothes, she was told there wasn't one. When she asked about the no return policy and not being able to try things on, the staff member got rude with her. When my daughter took exception to her attitude, she called the security guard over. He also was exceptionally rude. They ended up asking us to leave and we did so gladly at that point. Left a cart piled high with items. Their loss, as we told everyone we knew not to go there. Tried to find out who owns it, but not listed under Indian School Thrift on the Arizona Corporation Commission's website. But I believe they are a for-profit, so I would rather spend my money at Goodwill. I have never had a bad experience at ANY of them. And we go to many of them read more
