What a find! Family road trip from Dallas to Amarillo and wanted something besides the usual fast food. Stopped at Indian Dhaba and enjoyed an absolutely fantastic lunch. Service was friendly and helpful, and food was great! Okay... so it's a gas station.... Be patient - food is made to order. We are new in the area and searched for Indian food in Gainesville. Found Indian Dhaba off Hwy 82 in a Shell Station. I ordered the Aloo Saag - the most interesting and delicious I've had! You can taste the marriage of the fresh spinach with onion and spices. The potatoes were the perfect background to balance it. Sooo good. I think it's best with naan rather than rice. My husband had the Chicken Vindaloo - appropriately spiced with a good amount of chicken; not so hot that the heat overroad the spice flavors. He asked for medium spice level. Very good. The garlic naan was fluffy and tender with just the right amount of char on the outsides. The Samosas was lightly fried with a good spice and plenty of peas to potato inside. My teenage son stops here 2 tomes a week for their chicken taquitos which are massive. Their fried pies are also very good. The folks that own the gas station and inside restaurants are very polite and courteous. It is however a gas station. The food court area is quite large though. We've never ordered right from the restaurant in the back as my son always just grabs from the case daily kind of set up like allaups but it all looks and smells very good. read more

We were craving Indian food, and found this place on yelp. We drove 40 miles, based on the great reviews. Do not be deterred by the setting! It is inside a gas station, and shares its space with a subway sandwich shop, a hamburger joint, and a fried pie operation. When we walked in at 12:30 for lunch, there was not another single soul eating lunch. We almost gave up. Thank goodness we didn't. This was some of the best Indian food that we have had. Yes, it is served in Styrofoam containers. Yes, they hand you plastic utensils to eat it with. Don't pay attention to any of that. Pay attention to the incredible flavors and attention to detail. I'm so glad we decided to take a chance on this place! We ordered the chicken tikka masala with rice and garlic naan. The food was so authentic and full of flavor!! The owner, Cleto, is such a nice man and really cares about his customers! He was really helpful with guiding us through the menu. We loved this place so much that we ate it 3 days in a row!!! I've eaten Indian food once or twice before so don't have much to compare too, however I'd say the food here is amazing. I literally drove here 3 times in two days! It's only 17 minutes about from the casino so if u want good food instead of what casino offers I recommend the drive. I had the vegetable somosa which was large and very good. Also had chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and paneer butter masala. I told him I like it spicy so not positive how it comes normally but was perfect spice level for me, very flavorful and everything I had was terrific. The guy who works here is super nice and happy to explain the menu. It's in a travel store but don't let that fool you, it's the place to go for great Indian food, highly recommend! read more

This place is great. Defiantly a Dimond in the rough. We told the chef we did not like much spice and he hooked us up. My youngest boy is a picky eater bur he loved the rice and chicken Marsala. Big flavor in a ... gas station?!? Don't let the exterior fool you: it's a Shell Station with Subway, fried pies and burgers available but you have to have the Indian! I have tried every vegetarian dish they have and each is delicious! For the newbie, I recommend Paneer Butter Masala (or Butter Chicken if you prefer): a creamy, tomato-based sauce. Spoon it over the basmati rice or dip your naan. My favorite is Eggplant Curry (it's got some kick) and my husband loves the vegetable biryani but you can't go wrong no matter what you choose. read more

I have no clue if this food is authentic Indian food? Maybe like the Indian version of Mexican or what we call Chinese which to my understanding is nothing like authentic Chinese food? Since I have never been to India nor had anyone cook me Indian food, I do know I like their food! I have had a few different dishes and the food was great. The only reason I'm not giving five stars, is the lamb in their vindaloo could have been better quality meat. But the flavors were great! There is some heat, but not so much that it washes out all the other flavors; it the type of heat (& spices) that keeps you going back for more! And the garlic naan was delicious; a bit of crispy char on the outside, pillowy soft in the middle & a nice garlic taste, but not so much it overpowers everything. This is such a hidden gem. We came here on a recommendation from a friend and were originally confused to find it in a gas station building. DONT let that run you off. I've had Indian food from upscale places all over the country in my military days that weren't nearly as amazing as this. The owner is amazingly personable and he is dedicated to service. I was getting over a cough and when he noticed me coughing he was worried the spice was too much for me and offered to add some cream sauce to my curry. He was so excited by how pleased we were with his food he gave us samples of a few other things just to be able to have us try it. He's a chef from the Disney cruise lines trying to settle down and I just KNOW that if people give him a chance he'll turn this into a one of a kind location. Ordered the spicy chicken tikka missala (with naan bread, of course) after stopping during a long drive and ended up staying a few minutes longer than anticipated just so I could savor this gem of a find. We love this place. This is only our second time here and we are hooked. This is definitely a stop that will have to be made every time when we come this way when we are headed to Oklahoma to visit.
