    Very Yummy

Great service, Very Yummy food, reasonable prices. I Strongly recommend to try this place.

Murg makhni, plain roti & rice! Got some Kheer and chai too (not pictured).

We have been coming to the dhaba for two years now and have brought plenty of friends and family! They have changed so much, good and bad- like anything, right? Service- So one thing I noticed is the person taking the order will heckle the person helping the customers get their order once it's ready. Then you have like 10 customers around this counter asking for so many different things and it's 1 person trying to serve all of them. It's hard. It gets mentally exhausting then you have the order taker ringing their bell 100 times. Ugh. I was even stressed out for the guy! The food- hit or miss. We always get 4 things no matter what: fish pakora (my favorite app), tandoori chicken, garlic naan and murg makhni (my favorite dish). Sometimes the pakora will be too salty or the tandoori chicken doesn't taste right. We've only had a problem with the naan this last time, it seemed like it was made and then left on the counter for quite some time (chewy, hard to eat). Overall, we still love coming here but since they've started changing so much their customer service has gone wayyyy down hill and their prices have gone wayyyyyy up.

There rarely comes a restaurant that loses its value in terms of service. Punjabi Dhaba is an interesting restaurant which will indulge you with its tasty food but leave a bitter sweet memory for its lack of service and absurd prices. Let's start with the good bits; the food was amazing, not all of it, but enough for me to commend the restaurant for doing a fantastic job with the flavors and texture. We were a party of 5 and ordered a ton of food - Lamb Korma, Murg do Pyaza, paneer tikka, Makki ki roti Saag, Gobi Manchurian, Paneer Masala and Tandoori roti. The highlights were lamb korma and Makki ki roti Saag. The flavor was authentic and simply scrumptious. I'd stay away from Gobi Manchurian though, it was hard and felt stale and we didn't touch it after the first few bites. A note, no rice is served with curries, so you're left with ordering rice separate. Let's turn our attention to the bad bits; even though you dine in, the food is served in to-go plastic containers; the restaurant is strictly self serve, you order at the front and they call your name when the food is ready. Now, you would think, the prices would be reasonable for such an establishment, right? Wrong! The prices are inflated and absurdly high; we paid around $21 for Makki ki roti Saag!!! and everything else also in the menu is incredibly overpriced. The quantity also isn't justifiable with those prices. I get that there are no restaurants close by to this area but charging so much money for a casual Indian self-serve restaurant, not a fine dine, is, according to me, duping the customers. Also, did I tell you they charge $2 for a tiny bottle of water? Let that sink in. They have a banner inside that says no outside water/ cold drinks and then they go ahead and engage in extracting every nickel and dime which is just unethical. Oh and they do charge a 4% fee when paying with credit cards, so when paying cash, do ask them for a discount because when we tried to pay with cash the second time, they still, however, did charge us 4% fee and I had to inquire about the policy there with the owner to which he said the people working there didn't have enough training. The restaurant itself is huge, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings and the traditional Indian cloth bench seats. There are a lot of trucks and cars parked in the area which suggests the restaurant garners interest from everyone. I'd still give this restaurant a modest B+ for the food but a C for the antics and the the sky high prices. I'd argue this restaurant has the potential to be the best if they make some consumer friendly changes.

Punjabi Dhaba is an authentic Indian restaurant trying to recreate the experience of traditional indian dhabas found in north india Chicken Biryani ($15) : This mixed rice dish originating among the royal khansamas of the durbar of Old Delhi. They do justice to Old Delhi. It has strong savory taste and is one of best biryani I ever had in Texas, It is little pricey though Parking lot is huge and spacious Ambience and Service: Ambience (See the attached pic) They are trying to mimic indian dhaba. Place is clean and service is okay.

All I can say is HUGE Disappointment. Dhaba: Prepared in ways that can be stored for long periods of time without spoiling. Lots of oils, fresh ingredients and slow cooked to be preserved. Translated: Food in to-go containers, left over from the weekend, and then microwaved. Served with plasticware, so you can leave. And leave, you will wish to do, after you experience the customer service. The Tandoori Roti & Garlic Naan were so similar, my wife couldn't tell the difference... the Roti had more oil on it! We enjoyed the samosas the best, and highly recommend if you come here. The Malai Kofta was yummy, but a single note. My wife could only eat about 1/4 and then the spice began to become overwhelming for her. The Daal Maharani was hot, and curry was all I could taste. Clearly the powder had not been cooked long enough. The basmati rice was served on open plates (although the entree was in to-go containers) and cold. It was also hard. Not crispy hard, but hard like it had been sitting out and nuked (like chinese food rice, the next day). As someone familiar with Indian food, the service was horrible. We were treated like we were interrupting their MTV. (We were the only ones there at 5:30pm on a Tuesday... clearly everyone else knew something we did not). The gentleman offered NO help with the menu at all. He spoke repeatedly in a manner that was quick and mumbled, and intended for me to misunderstand. For real... if you don't want our money, just say so... or close the doors! I love shop local, I love interesting new places, I want our town to have variety and these people to succeed. However, just like every other review in 2022... I agree this place is just AWFUL. 1 STAR

Omg! This food here was so good. I wish they would open a location in California. I miss the food already! This is a huge place with lots of outdoor seating available and they play good music. This place does give you a vibe of a dhaba in India which is amazing. Inside is also decent size but the wait here was long. Food was exceptional so no complaints. We got paneer tikka appetizer, makai kofta, paneer masala, dal makhani, garlic naan, roti and rice. Everything, and I mean everything was delicious. Paneer tikka was among the best we have had in US. It was all well prepared with good amount of spice. I think dal makhani was my absolute favorite thing. We also got the mango lassi which was not as good and when we told the chef about it they were very receptive and explained that perhaps the canned mango pulp was off. I appreciate when businesses are receptive and express the wish to make their establishment better. My relatives frequent this place and I can see why. We won't miss coming here when we visit. Kudos!

3.5 stars. Great food for where it's located. My friend has raved about this place for a while so I came prepared to eat. We came here two nights in a row to try new things. First night, we got the saag paneer, their special chicken curry, chilli chicken and garlic naan. Everything was delicious! Hot, freshly made and spicy - just the way I like it. I definitely recommend all of those dishes, esp if you love real spicy Indian food like me (not the watered down spicy most Indian restaurants in the US come up with). We also got a sweet lassi which was nice but I would've liked the salt one. On night 2, we got the samosa, chicken Tikka kabab, aloo paratha, naan, the kadhi pakoda, chole and dal makhani. The chole and dal makhani were good but the kadhi pakoda was very salty. The samosa was oily and the chicken Tikka kabab wasn't something to write home about. The aloo paratha was also ok. So the second night was a little bit of a dud as compared to the first night. If I come back, I'm sticking to the things I tried on night 1.

    Samsosa - very huge
    Nanda K.

I was excited when my friends told me about this place. I liked the set up. It was higher hall with some cots and tables. Ambiance was average but they tried. Matka Lassi- 4.5/5 it almost tasted like an Indian lassi and reminded me of back home. It was nice and tasty. The bread was nice fresh and hot. We tried the bullet naan. It was very spicy, usually they remove the chili seeds before they put it on the bread but they didn't. Matka Tea - 3.5/5 it was ok but could be better Potato chaat - I was excited about it then later on when it arrived. This was sweet potatoes boiled and peeled with some chaat masala. We were hesitant to try it. But one of our friend tried it and said it was good. The plate was finished in no time. We tried the butter chicken it was good - 4/5 Kada chicken not as good as butter chicken - 2.5/5 Samosa were a disaster. The samosa was filled with lot of filling. We just threw them away and no one wanted to take it home. The chicken tandoori was so good I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the one with bone than boneless on this occasion. Decent place to try but I think you can only have authentic food.

    Goat Curry
    Mary M.

When I tell you don't judge a book by it COVER!! OMW! The food was fresh and hot, I had the Goat Curry that was chunk full of scrumptiously, spicy, bone-in goat. I mean the Goat was so tender, I could work it off the bone with a plastic spoon! And not one of those heavy weight industrial plastic spoons either. Well seasoned and the GRAVY! I could have DRANK THAT! My husband had the Chicken Tikka Marsala and I promise! There was a whole 8oz chicken breast it seemed in that container! The chicken was juicy and we'll seasoned, but again THE GRAVY!!! Volumputous in texture and flavor, nutty and buttery with a slight bit of sweet. Kheer...the PERFECT end to all that lusciousness!! Balanced and sweet with just toothy grains of rice. Simple yet Ample in flavor. Honestly, my husband kept saying it's closed, it looks like it's still under construction. So glad we stopped!

    Saag Paneer

This place was delicious! Excellent low key dining experience to break up the monotony of I40 while on a long haul drive. Service was very friendly and prompt. Nice open dining area with good lightning. We saw this place on the side of the road on the way to Dallas from CO and were intrigued. Stopped to try it out on the way home. Such a great choice! We got chicken tikka masala, naan, veggie samosas, saag paneer, and a mango lassi. Everything was so fresh and just what was needed on a long rainy drive to warm and refresh us for a long day on the road. Will definitely make a point to stop in again!

Absolutely spot on food. Every time each time. The food never disappoints. Service could be a tad faster, but no complaints. The food is the star of the Dhaba.

    Avantika B.

A tad bit unmanaged, we got a different dish than ordered but had no stamina to go back in line and argue and get another one. There was only one counter and that was slow as well. Food took time to arrive ... food was tasty so that gets 3 more points. Need to be cleaner for outside seating. I will probably go get a takeout and eat at home as food is delicious!

But I was headed home and wanted to grab something en route for the family to eat. I glanced and saw a high rating and figured I can't go wrong with Indian food. Anyplace I've eaten had alway been good! So, I ordered Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Biryani, and Goat Curry through Yelp app. I was 5 minutes away and food was ready for pickup when I arrived, which pleased me but also made me wonder if it wasn't fresh. Nevertheless I arrived home and the food was packaged well and that was the end of the good experience. Surprisingly the food was rather terrible. And I have NEVER had bad Indian food. The Biryani was bland and hot for hot sake, like spicy and flavorless. The Nan was thick and rubbery. The tandoori was dry and nasty, like having a sour taste to it. My husband had the goat and said the sauce wasn't good. Overall I don't recommend this place. Seriously I hate I wasted $50+ with them and I honestly wish I could get my money back. Yes, it's Christmas Day holiday so I can be forgiving with being slow. I get that, but ... The thing that rubbed me wrong the most was the waitress only wanted to bring one togo container for all 4 four plates of food . Like we were just going to slap it all together like pig slop. We had to specifically ask for four seperate containers. They also brought one foil wrap for the leftover Naan for two couples . So we mixed ours with our daughter and her boyfriend .
