I had heard good things about this restaurant and finally had a chance to try it out. I went during lunch and it wasn't busy on this Tuesday. I started out with samosa's, not bad but I've had better samosa's. They have a pretty big menu with most common Indian dishes you would expect. They also have biryani's and nepalan dishes. I talked to the server and she mentioned the "Chowk special curry" is one of their popular dishes and I decided to try something different. I ordered it with chicken. Their spice scale is mild, medium and spicy. I can usually eat spicy as long as it doesn't get too crazy but decided to go with medium. This dish is spicy, I was still sweating bullets but that's ok. It was delicious. You can order it with most normal protein's I ordered it with chicken and it was great. I also ordered their "bullet naan", naan bread with some kind of chili from my understanding. It was good, not too spicy and a bit different. They have many different types of naan bread. Service was great and I really liked the food. I thought it was also quite affordable. You'll find regional dishes you won't find on other Indian restaurant menus plus the old standbys. We eat here weekly and we keep finding new favorites. If you'd like a new twist on an old favorite, try their Brussels sprouts or fried potatoes apps. If you like Chinese fried dumplings, try their momo. New to Indian: butter chicken is for you. The start of the week and I knew I wouldn't have time to grab lunch at the office tomorrow. So, it has been a while since I've ordered to go from this wonderful place. I wanted a little of everything and knew I'd be able to take 1/2 of it for tomorrow's lunch. I ordered the vegetarian thali that comes with the chef's choice of a veggie platter. I called it in and left to go grab it! My order was being packed up as I walked in. No samosa though and I really wanted that so I added an order of samosas which took around 5 mins to do. I hurried home so I could unpack my goodies! It came with a tikka masala paneer, 2 pakora, a salty chutney, basmati rice, dal makani, a papadam and naan! The tikka paneer was great, cubes of the cheese covered in a tomato heavy c cream like sauce. It went well with scoops of rice. The samosa was perfect. A fat little triangle stuffed with smashed peas and potatoes. I could only eat one, lightly fried, and dipped in the savory tamarind sauce or slightly spiced mint sauce. I loved both sauces. Then I tackled the fried pakora, veggie pieces, with bites of the salty chutney. I ate all of that. The papadam is a light, crispy lentil wafer and it was perfect. Non-greasy and I should've eaten that one on the way home because it was too delicate for transport and broke up a bit by the time it was unpacked. I still made a shrine for it in my tummy. I saved the dal (lentils cooked down in a gravy) to dip my naan in tomorrow. I already know I'll still get too full because I saved the other large samosa for that meal. The dessert was good, I just don't care for sweet stuff after a savory meal so I skipped eating the pastry (looks like a donut hole) in a sweet syrup. So for $22 (tax & tip), I got two (could easily be 3 meals) which is better than any fast food for sure. The staff are super helpful. I can't wait to go back and try the chicken khadai with rice. The samosas are a must. What are you waiting for? Go there, get some. Service was ok, we called to inform them the lamb kabob was not edible and the lady on the phone said the owner wasn't there and he lost his phone and there wasn't anything she could do. Like probably-should-have-a-punch-card-at-every-restaurant-in-Dallas levels of Indian food. So when I stumbled on Spicy Chowk in Denton, tucked in a random shopping center that does not exactly scream culinary magic, I was not expecting much. But then I saw it. The dining room was packed. And not just packed, people were locked in, eating like they were defending their plates from thieves. That is when I knew something serious was going down. So I parked. I walked in. And I am telling you right now, this place delivers. Let's cut straight to the chase. The butter sauce here is the truth. Forget whatever you think you know about butter chicken versus tikka masala. I ordered both on my first visit because I am a responsible adult who makes brave culinary decisions, and I can say without hesitation the butter sauce wins. It is richer, it has that perfect tang, that deep tomato pop, that silky balance of spice and cream that makes you rethink every good tikka masala you have ever had. If you are one of those tikka loyalists, hear me out. You are going to walk in thinking tikka is the move. I get it, I have been you. But trust me, the butter here is where it is at. That is your go-to order. Now let's talk momos because these little flavor bombs are not messing around. The masala momos and butter momos are next-level. I do not know what kind of magic they are working back there, but these dumplings are addictive. The Service and food is so good here! Stopped by because spicy is in the name. Started with the Samosas and they were a generous size with a thin, crispy, flaky shell. For main course I tried the Chilly Momo Dumplings which were fried and tossed in a delicious red sauce with stir fry vegetables. I also tried the Jhatka Chicken which was also fried and tossed in a delicious yellow sauce. The chicken was so tender and crispy! The naan here is also incredible because it is thin, soft and has a bit of crispness as well. Overall all the spices and flavors were so perfect they made me want to dance from happiness. Our waitress was very kind and took great care of us. She let us try the Chai and it was the best chai I've ever had! Looking forward to our next visit even though we've only just left. BEST. FOOD. IN. DENTON. I've always smelled the food when I'm walking past to drop off my UPS returns and finally decided to try it. We went around 4pm for an early dinner, and there was no one at the restaurant. The waitstaff came and got our order fast and the food was delivered fast too, which is uncommon for an Indian restaurant. For apps, we got dahi puri (mostly yogurt, missing potatoes and onions) and chicken lollipops (I don't know what kind of seasoning they used but it was delicious)! For entrees, we ordered the butter chicken (sweet and creamy), goat biryani (perfectly seasoned), and chicken vindaloo (spicy)! All entrees were decently meat-heavy (which is also uncommon for an Indian restaurant) and satisfied all our cravings! For dessert, we order gulab jamun (warm, soft, and not too sweet) and Ras Malai (not our favorite). The only interesting thing was everything was served in to-go containers or paper plates, which is easy to pack up or clean up haha. This place is a must visit! Not only is the food delicious it's also affordable. I had the fried chicken momo dumplings and the butter chicken with rice. The dumplings were crispy, hot and seasoned to perfection! The momo sauce was smoky and just the right flavor to match the dumplings. I picked up a To Go order on Thursday evening. I wasn't able to check out the restaurant much, but it seemed clean and decently decorated. There was a cute photo op area by the entrance. Not a full service restaurant (as in having a server take your order at the table and bring your food), so if that's a requirement for your dining experience I would recommend Namaste. I'm fine with either, just depends on if it's an occasion or who I'm with. The woman who provided my food was very friendly. I ordered a mild Chicken Tikka Masala. I enjoy spice, but typically Indian cuisine spice is too much for me (even when it's mild, there's usually a subtle heat that is just right for me). I ordered mild expecting that and was surprised to find it was very mild. The flavor was still great, though there was a subtle sweetness to it. I still throughly enjoyed it, though next time I'll order medium spice level. I would also order extra chicken next time. I'm still hungry after this meal. The naan was perfect; the garlic flavor was strong and the bread was soft. It was excellent when dipped into the extra curry. Looking forward to trying them again! read more

We went here over the weekend for a friend's birthday. There were 5 of us and every one of us ordered something different. Everything was exceptional from the service to the appetizers and entrées. We ordered 3 different kinds of naan. Our unanimous favorite was the cheese naan. We also ordered the fried 555 momos off of a Google review, loved them! I had the tandoori chicken, it was amazing. So flavorful. And the portions were great, especially for the price. I would definitely recommend, even for the ones who have never had this type of food before. I would pay that price only if there was more rice and gravy/protein. The portion size was like a "lunch speciality size." We ordered a naan basket (butter, garlic & cheese) and the Chowk Ko Dami Jhol Momo for $11, it has 8 dumplings and this one comes with a creamy cold sauce. I had the butter chicken which is served with rice on the side and my bf had the Chowk Special Curry with lamb (medium spice) for $13, it also came with rice and it was not very spicy but had a sweet flavor.
